The Dating Experiment (Better With You Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,875 ratings

Jamie:
Three years ago, I sold my soul to the devil.
Also known as my boss. Same thing.
Here’s the deal. Connor Quinn is arrogant, impossible to please, cold as ice, and prone to find flaws in everything.
Since that fatal day three years ago, many a murder plan have been made and many a weapon considered.
Until…
I accidentally get to know him better, which is unfortunate, since it turns out that underneath Connor’s icy exterior, there’s a man shaped by past hurts and difficult life lessons.
Which means I’m in a bit of a pickle since it also turns out I might kind of like the bastard…

Connor:
For as long as I can remember, I’ve chased calm. I’m the exact opposite of an adrenaline junkie with my pursuit of peace and quiet.
My rules are simple. I don’t make terrible decisions. I don’t make mistakes. And I don’t do chaos.
Until Jamie.
He’s an anomaly. A glitch in the system. Unpredictable. Distracting. Confusing.
But now I’ve accidentally gotten to know him better, and it turns out he’s also warm. And funny. And interesting. And with him, the world gets just a tiny bit quieter.
And I fit just a tiny bit better.

Briar Prescott is a work in progress. She swears too much, doesn’t eat enough leafy greens and binge watches too much television. It’s okay, though. One of these days she'll get a hang of that adulting thing.

Probably.

Maybe.

She hopes.

I loved this book! It follows on from Book 1, and that is probably a great place to start anyway, but the humor and relationships from the first story continue and develop in such a wonderful way. Jamie and Connor have a spark that is palpable on every page, and Briar Prescott brings it even more to light with humor and wit so rare in most writing. If the first book was laugh-out-loud at times, this one is the warm, loving, kind and caring humor shared by people who love one another. Enjoy this wonderful story for yourself!!

This book. This book has some of the most entertaining and amusing banter that I have read in a really long time. Briar Prescott really popped off, and I absolutely loved it!

Jamie and Connor's interactions were so fun, and they had me rooting for them every single step of the way. They had a variety of interactions and really developed a solid bond that made me absolutely feral. I was practically foaming at the mouth ny the time they first kissed. Seriously... so good. I think the only reason this book did not get 5 stars was that towards the end of the book, certain aspects just really didn't quite fit for me...but it rallied at the very end and in the epilogue. These two were well developed and interesting characters that kept me enraptured almost the entire time. Loved! 9/10 do recommend.

I absolutely ADORED this book from start to finish. I loved both of the main characters, and I loved the delightful journey to their HEA. This was a great boss/employee, grumpy/sunshine, age gap love story with the addition of one of my absolute favorite elements: chatting and developing feelings virtually before meeting in real life, even though they’ve worked together for years. I got strong ‘You’ve Got Mail’ vibes during one scene and I grinned like a fool. They had just the right amount of tension in their developing relationship, and these two guys were MADE for each other... I just got so much joy out of reading this I can’t even tell you!

While I’m gushing about how sweet it is, let me just say this... it was also so incredibly funny and absolutely smoking hot. Sweet, funny, and sexy— this book was my trifecta and it’s automatically going to be a reread for me. I had to devour it in one sitting, and Jamie and Connor are definitely new favorites. This is the best book I’ve read in 2021 hands down.

I absolutely LOVED. THIS. BOOK. 💗

A lot of reviews of other authors say, "Oh, they are so funny, yada yada." But a lot of times, they aren't really, OR can be over the top in a way that gets annoying(!) after a while and also unrealistic for the scene (sorry, Alice W.) or in a way that makes the smexy times anti-climactic like they're just too immature and uncomfortable being serious about sex (hello, A.W. & couple others. But she's the worst, IMO, because I love her humor, but feel we deserve GOOD romance from her, too.) But not so with this particular author. I can think of three of her books off the top of my head that just had me rolling with the witty badinage that's going on between the MCs. Then she also makes the spice not seem cheap, because it's very meaningful between the people who are having the spice. I hate when people subtract the true meaning behind the physical moments, which really lessens them. They're way hotter when the people really like each other's personalities AND have the chemistry. This story really makes you happy deep down because of the character growth of these two guys-- especially Con. And she shows it in a way that's completely believable, and that really inspires you. (Of course, everybody in the story being really really witty is kind of unrealistic; but I'll allow it, cuz it's just THAT good.) I fell in love with these guys and their love. I also love the fact that you can tell that Briar has a great lexicon and is good with language and grammar, which is, unfortunately, missing in some people's work. I love your work Briar; you are becoming one of my favorites! I can't wait for this to be on Audible, maybe with Greg Boudreaux narrating it, although Joe Leslie has done a great job in this series so far, and I love him. (However, nobody actually matches Greg's skill set, but JL is in the top 5!)

I LOVED this book! Connor and Jamie are delightful characters. They have a very “You’ve got mail” meeting after anonymous texting, but then things go off in a completely different direction. They are opposites who absolutely belong together. This will be a multiple-time re-read for sure!

Absolut empfehlenswert!

Really enjoyed this book. As an introvert myself I was very happy to read about such a good introverted character, they are usually quite ridiculous in stories and get 'cured' at some point. Nice story with no angst and a good amount of humour.

I don’t think I have ever laughed so much while reading a romance book… I loved the characters and the banter and the rambles… and it’s such a lovely, warm book. I was having a really bad week and this book made it so much better

I don’t think I’ve read such a good book in a long while. Witty dialogue and really fun exchanges and a great dynamic between the main characters. Surprised me when they approached their problem (well, one of them) head on rather than what I fully expected could be a Hanks and Ryan movie moment…. I’ve said too much. Anyway this is a journey I loved, and this review will be short and sweet. Haven’t been this thoroughly engaged in a while - so totally worth reading.

I didn’t see this coming. After being introduced to Connor and Jamie in the first book I had no idea either of these characters would end up being gay, or gay-adjacent, or whatever, but then Briar writes this great story and I’m so glad they are. Also I love Seb and “J”!
