Three Little Pigs: A British Crime Thriller (DCI Kett Crime Thrillers Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 15,799 ratings

He will find the truth. Even if it kills him.

Five months ago, DCI Robert Kett’s wife Billie was snatched from a London street. Five months of no leads, no evidence, and no suspects.

Until now.

When a routine police search uncovers a chamber of horrors beneath one of the city’s most expensive houses, detectives find a clue that points to Billie’s fate, and to the identity of her kidnapper—an enigmatic killer known as the Pig Man.

Desperate for closure, and still reeling from his last investigation, Kett returns to London for his most personal and most dangerous case yet—a case that pits him against a terrifying evil.

He doesn’t know if Billie is alive or dead. He doesn’t know if he’s too late to save her. All he knows is that he swore he’d go to hell and back to find out what happened.

And now, he's about to.

"Utterly terrifying and unbeatably exciting, this is one of the best crime thrillers of the year so far." Thrilling Fiction. You won't be able to put down this fast-paced British crime thriller from multimillion-selling author Alex Smith.

Alex Smith wrote his first book when he was six. It wasn’t particularly good, but it did have some supernatural monsters in it. His latest books, the DCI Robert Kett thrillers, have monsters in them too, although these monsters are very human, and all the more terrifying for it. In between these two books he has published fourteen novels for children and teenagers under his full name, Alexander Gordon Smith—including the number one bestselling series Escape From Furnace, which is loved by millions of readers worldwide and which is soon to become a motion picture. He lives in Norwich with his wife and three young daughters.

Hi there, and welcome to my Amazon author page! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my books. If you want to be the first to know about new releases then feel free to follow me by clicking on the follow button on my book pages or on my author page.

I've been a writer for almost all my life. I wrote my first book when I was six, and even though it wasn't very good it did have monsters in it. It was a sign of things to come, as I spent most of my twenties and thirties writing horror books for children and teenagers under my full name, Alexander Gordon Smith, including the award-winning series Escape From Furnace. It was only after I had my three daughters that I thought about writing a series of thrillers about a detective with young children, and DCI Robbie Kett was born.

I live in Norwich with my family, where I spend half of my time writing and the other half trying to keep up with my three girls.

The title sounds innocuous enough. Then you start reading and find yourself riveted once again by the masterful writing of Alex Smith. DCI Kett's wife is missing and he cares for their three daughters. He never gives up trying to find her. This is a must read if you are a fan of truly deviant (meaning just plain old horrible). Start reading early as you are not going to want to put the book down, I promise you!

After reading the first book in this series, I promised myself not to bother reading anything else regarding the lead detective in this book. The inclusion of his badly behaved children is most irritating; brings nothing of importance to a mystery novel, that in the final analysis, made me put the book down. His irrational behavior regarding the search for his missing wife, Billie, disregarding rules and regulations which includes the fellow officers that he drags into this search makes the reading of this story impossible!

    Ok story!

ITS RARE THAT I DO REVIEWS

And rarer still I do Five ***** Stars, but it’s well deserved in this case. I must have a Scottish fling thing going on right now as the series I read before this was JD Kirks Logan & Hoons series, all 17 books, and I fell in love with the writing style and the humor, and I thunk that’s why I’m enjoying these so much, there’s similarities without it being an actual similarity if that makes sense!

I was concerned that the 3 kids would detract from the books, but strangely it’s vice versa & I wouldn’t want it in any other way, ESPECIALLY in this book or they’d all of been dead!

The authors managed to create a semi-broken detective, which all great detective stories must have, it pulls the readers in, humanizes the characters, us, the readers, relate to them quicker & stay that way, but the authors done that without having it been a dead spouse etc, and with that it opened up so many possible doors, and no doubt opened up many book covers too.

The red herrings, or as I like to say ‘the little red fishies’ are strung throughout the book and they’re GOOD, I love guesstimating, but wow!

There’s no swearing, well pretty much none anyways, most of it’s in ‘adult don’t let the kids hear it’ and there’s no sex scenes. The baddies are despicable and are multilayered and there’s more than 1 or 2.

So, if your umming & ahhing whether to read these?…

YES, GO BUY BOOK ONE & TWO right now and ALWAYS keep a book up your sleeve as you’ll be wanting to read the next one ASAP.

WHOOPS & lastly these DO carry on from each other so READ THE BOOKS IN ORDER!!!

Finally, my sincere THANK YOU to the author for the enjoyable reading time which I’m sure is going to follow through to book 4 & onwards!

I honestly have no idea the darkplaces this author must've been to to dream up this storyline, but it's a page Turner for sure! My only complaint is that the writer's idea of time seems to be warped as too much happens in just one day; could've really done with being spread over at least a week. But ill let it slide - great story, great characters, great twist.

This is a story that has the adrenaline pumping from the beginning to the end. I still don’t understand how DCI Kett is still alive. Great characters. Wonderful writing. Terrifying plot. Great read.
