    Okay so a first me by this author and…..Wait….What?
    WTAF did I just read?

    I am all for dark reads and from what I could gather this was going to be all kinds of dark, so naturally I one-clicked, but good lord I’m still struggling to get my head around it.

    Dark….YES, but this author took dark to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. My stomach literally turned it was that twisted and freakishly morbid. And yes I will be the first to own it…..It left me dumbfounded.

    Because who the hell does that?
    Who would ever in a million years even contemplate a life like Gray and enjoy it?
    Literally WHO DOES THAT?
    I can’t even….

    And that ending…..Huh, umm…….WTAF!!
    Surprise element doesn’t even cut it.

    I’m so glad I’ve read this now. In prep for the novellas that are about to drop soon.

    What a deliciously sweet read this was. If you’ve read other book by the author, then yes you know this one is on the sweet side of things.

    Gray is an artist. He has a special talent which he can’t share with too many people.

    Aiden is his BFF. A little spitfire fighter that he protects with all his heart. She’s also Gray’s unofficial assistant.

    Penn is the trust fund baby but he’s a great secret keeper.

    Oh lawd. Let me just say, I wasn’t too sure what direction the book would take. I know I would love to know more about Gray and Aiden’s relationship prior to her helping him. Like do you just ask your BFF if they are cool with it and you take it from there lol I just love these characters so much and that makes me greedy. I want to keep reading and reading about them.

    The ending…I’ll just say: We belong together.

    I also did the audio w this and the narrator was perfect!!! He wasn’t just reading to us. He yawned when the character did, his emotion came through so well. Just loved him!!!

    Yolanda Olson has done it once more and made me gasp out loud and my eyes bulge out of my head. What a book to make you stop and think. She had me going in circles thinking about what was going to happen next and I made my own presumption and of course I was wrong.
    To be honest I don’t know how to really put in words what I want to say but OMG!
    This book is another masterpiece and if you have read any of her other books you will not be disappointed. As a fan of Yolanda Olson’s I must say everything she writes is genuinely original. I have to say that you will not read one of her books and then read another and think they will be the same. They aren’t. They are all one of a kind.

    I had no idea how to rate this book.
    At this point I don’t even know if i liked it. But i can't stop thinking about it. 🙈🙈

    I read it in one sitting because the prologue intrigued me... and then that ending shocked me.

    The MMC is all kind of crazy, that's for sure. However the author made a marvelous job writing about him 'cause you are able to understand him. You can feel his emotions.

    I mean i'm kinda used to Yolanda Olson by now, yet she can always surprise me.
    The thing that drives me crazy is that i know i will come back for more when i'm in the right mood for her books 🙈

    So, in the end, i guess i still enjoyed it... somehow 😅

    This was my first book by Yolanda Olson, it will not be my last! This one took me on a wild ride and was a complete mindf***. Seeing the world through Gray’s eyes was an experience and I’m not sure if I’ll ever be the same again. It’s was full of suspense, which had me constantly guessing;it was straight up twisted and so well written. I apparently love me some crazy. Can’t wait to dive into another one of her books!

    I actually read the novella-length companion story A Brush with the Devil prior to this [not realising it was a follow-up tale], so unfortunately I knew what the big reveal/secret in the attic was going in. Did this spoil my enjoyment? did it heck. It was riveting, and allowed me to get to know Gray that little bit better and delve somewhat deeper into his psyche. However, his origins and motivation sadly remain a mystery, which is a pity, as I’d’ve loved some backstory and answers. On the upside, I did get to meet the other two characters pre-metamorphosis, and witness the dynamics and mutation of this triad’s bonkers relationship.

    It’s a true spine-chiller - similar in some respects to the movie Tusk - although don’t expect pages of grisly, graphic horror, as it’s much more an insidious, suspenseful menace rather than hardcore torture-porn. There are one or two scenes that’ll undoubtedly shock, and possibly sicken, but overall it’s the clever writing, mystery and anticipation that really gives it the creep factor.

    I’ve now read around half a dozen or so of this author’s books, and I must say she has a wonderfully macabre imagination that’s like a siren call to me. Her tales are a mix of grotesque, grisly and shocking, with a hint of gallows humour and even romance - not an easy combo to pull off - all ultimately aimed at die-hard lovers of the dark side, rather than tourists who wanna dip their toe in, then endlessly whinge it’s too sick and twisted and generally upsetting to their delicate senses. When this author says dark, she means it - and doesn’t just slip it into the title/blurb or pay it lip service to attract the hordes - so, you know, if that ain’t your jam ..there’s plenty of fluff out there. Read this, then read ABwtD. You won’t be disappointed.

    It was a slow and tantalizing assault on my safe little world. I turned the key and entered into Yolanda's world where she introduced me to two sociopaths and a psychopath living a far from normal existence in an ordinary world, much like the vampires in Interview with a Vampire. They're stylish, edgy and inseparable. A testament to true friendship, personality disorders and the fact that art is interpreted uniquely by the eye of the beholder.

    Yolanda is a one-of-a-kind Romance Horror author that serves up many unusual flavors to our inexperienced palettes. One must always try news things and I definitely recommend you tuck into what Yolanda has to serve.
