Mikhail wakes up from a coma of two months after nearly being killed, on the news that his mother and sister were tragically killed by the Mexican cartel. Because of his father, the leader of the Russian bratva, not being in good health, Mikhail decides to avenge himself by killing the leader of the cartel and forcibly marrying his daughter. Natalia is a slave to the cartel family. She is the maid of Adriana, who is the cartel princess. Both of her parents were killed by The cartel and she is left with no family. Just when she thought her life couldn’t get any worse, she is mistaken to be Adriana and is given two choices, to marry or to die. I’ll start by saying please read trigger warnings. Because it’s dark! I loved the angst, the suspense, and I connected with the characters! I loved how well everything flows in the story. Most of the time I was worried about Natalia’s secret being discovered and I was so not ready for that plot twist, just WOW. At times, I wanted to strangle Mikhail for what he said. He is ruthless and only thinks about revenge. There was also the relationship between both of them that begins to develop that I loved!! So intense and the spice was perfect! I enjoyed this book so much!

    Wow if I can give more than 5 stars I would cause this book deserves it!!!
    Where do I begin.?.?.
    Let’s start with h- Natalia- her had went into debt & ask Raul a cartel boss to help out, he became delinquent in his payments & Raul took them as slaves for them to wrk for free (to pay for the debt) Raul immediately felt an attraction for Natalia’s mother who he raped & had Felipe his 1st in command to rape & killed her mom right in-front of her & her dad. Once her mom was killed Raul took Natalia as he’s slave for his daughter (Adriana). Her dad was killed & now she was on her own. There was an old friend of her parents who watched out for her & he also wrked for Raul as Raul’s lieutenant . Adriana was scheduled to married Felipe but being that Adriana was just sleeping with everyone just to get the attention of Felipe who wanted Natalia & fooled around with her w/out taking gee virginity since she was schedule to be auctioned to be a sex slave. While Adriana was making Natalia try on the wedding dress while she goes out with a guy a man (Mikhail) comes & kills Felipe.
    Now a-little backstory on Mikhail- he is Bratva’s son who his dad is the boss for the Russian mafia. On his way to the concert to watch his sister dance (Ballet) he was ambush & his mom got shot & he was shot as well (by Felipe-ordered by Raul) everyone thought he was dead & they took his sister & sold her to sex slavery. He came to Raul’s home to get revenge & killed Felipe & Raul & then took Natalia-who he thought was Adriana to marry & own the Mexican cartel.
    Never did they both thought they would fall in love with each other.
    I love this story & even tho is long I wanted more! I want the story to continue. I love Natalia & Mikhail!
    This story kept me on the edge at all times!!’ Big twist at the end that I would of never thought would happen!!!! Love it!!

    I really loved this story, but other than a few minor typos that really didn't detract, there were two things that kept me from giving this book any more than 4 stars.

    First - I have a real issue with the following.

    The background: A young girl, maid to a cartel princess (who's father killed her parents) since she was 10. Her virginity has been protected because upon the cartel princess's marriage she will be sold as a sex slave at a virgin auction. But that doesn't stop anyone from mistreating her or the men from assaulting her sexually in just about every other way. She's lived in fear most of her life. She wakes up in a dungeon next to a headless body, blood and dead people all around her. As she begins to remember the attack, one of the attackers comes for her. She's taken upstairs where she witnesses him slitting a mans throat, then putting a bullet in his head before being taken to a room to await his return with enough time in between to worry about her new fate.
    The scene: He returns, Asks "Are you afraid of me Malyshka?" She asks what that means he tells her baby girl in Russian. Now we're supposed to believe that gives her tingles. Worse, that when he roughly touches her sexually she's so turned on that she orgasms? Really? She's gone from one horror to another unknown that could be just as horrible or deadly, She's unwillingly touched by someone in the same way the men from the cartel touched her which she hated, but THIS time she's turned on? Maybe if he'd shown her some compassion or kindness first, (since she's never had that) or at least given her hope that her life with him wouldn't be as bad giving her a false sense of safety in that moment...it might have been more believable. But no, all he does is threaten her because he believes she is the cartel princess who's father also killed his mother and sister and left him for dead! No way, no how is she going to be turned on when she's scared out of her wits! Note: This occurs in Chapter 4. Up to this point the story is good and thankfully, after this chapter, it progresses in a more believable fashion.

    Second - I hate when dumb mistakes are made. Wedding scene: Couple exchanging vows..."I (name) take you (name) to be my lawfully wedded (husbsnd/wife) to have and to hold, to love and cherish, blah, blah, blah....until death do us part." The Priest then asks.."Do you (name) take (name) to be your lawfully wedded (husband/wife) to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, blah, blah blah....until death do you part?". WTF...didn't they just say/vow that? If their vows had been personalized, fine,, but for the priest to repeat the exact same thing! Just a stupid mistake! The author and the editors must have been sleeping on the job.

    Okay, rant over. Now for the good stuff!

    It really is a good story with a good plot. Lots of intrigue and secrets. It leaves you guessing who is behind the assassination attempt and while you might have a good suspicion, you will only be partially right. The development of the romance follows a more natural, believable path after chapter 4. The characters are strong, wanting to survive no matter what, but they do have their issues and worries to deal with which the eventually work out. They are multidimensional and grow on this journey.

    Would I recommend this? In spite of the above issues, Yes! Just be forewarned and decide to overlook those two issues and you will enjoy!

    Mikhail steals Adrianna from her cartel-leader father in order to force a marriage and take ownership of the cartel. His plan is working great until he discovers he hasn’t married Adrianna at all but a girl named Natalia. Natalia, Adrianna’s maid, was slated to be sold at auction to the highest bidder and saw a way to escape by letting Mikhail assume she was Adrianna. Additionally, Mikhail doesn’t know if his father will choose him or his brother Ivan to take over as leader of the Bratva. What he does know is that there are unnamed enemies out to destroy him and his bride if he can’t figure out who they are and how to stop them.

    This book is AMAZING! The relationship between Mikhail and Natalia is fiery, tempestuous, and exciting. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 There is plenty of action and one BIG TWIST that I did NOT see coming. Reading near the end, I found myself alternating between holding my breath and biting my nails. The writing is gorgeous - not overly dramatic, yet rich enough to suck you in and hold your attention. There are a couple of teeny-tiny errors which are so minor they don’t detract at all from the reading enjoyment. Trust me when I say that this is one book you don’t want to miss! I highly recommend!
