Dedicated: A Rhythm of Love Novel (Rhythm of Love Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
I live by the hedonist’s credo of consumption in every avenue of life.
I have trouble staying still, trouble staying sober, trouble turning down a good time.
But put a pen in my hand, and I’ll set a page on fire.
Give me a guitar and I’ll drive a sold-out arena rabid.
The only person who can make me slow down and breathe is my bandmate Evan.
He’s the level-head, the quiet maestro, the seatbelt that keeps me from flying too far out of control.
Our chemistry onstage is electric.
Offstage it’s… complicated.
Because I’m the definition of “covert pining” and Evan’s not only my bandmate, he’s straight.
After our third album bombs (probably my fault), the pressure is on for us to redeem ourselves with our fourth. We head to a cabin in a quaint East Tennessee town to compose it—just us, nature, and a PR nightmare (definitely my fault) that forces us into a fake relationship.
No big deal.
Until the fake relationship starts feeling too real.
Dedicated, the first book in the Rhythm of Love series, is a steamy bisexual friends-to-lovers romance featuring forced proximity, a fake relationship, angst, snark, a cock-blocking greenhouse, really poor decisions involving social media, and a HEA guarantee.

About the author

Neve Wilder reads promiscuously, across multiple genres, but her favorite stories always contain an element of romance. Incidentally, this is also what she likes to write. Slow-burners with delicious tension? Yes. Whiplash-inducing page-turners, also yes. And every flavor in between.
She believes that love conquers all. Except the heat index in July. Nothing can conquer that bastard.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2020By this time it is clear to me that I love everything Neve Wilder writes. She has the ability to write real steamy books, where the sex is hot, and almost a necessity to really get the dynamics between the two mc's. What I admire about her writing is, that there's always a real story behind the sex, one you get sucked into and one you want to learn more about. So yes, while the sex is important, the story is not just that, there's always so much more to it.
She also creates great characters, ones that grow on you and ones you come to love more and more with every page you turn, with each new chapter.
I loved the dynamics in this story, the tension, the longing, the ache. There's an undeniable chemistry between Les and Evan and everything they say or do is evidence of the strong feelings they have for one another, even though Evan needs time to acknowledge them for what they really are: love.
This is a raw, and at the same time sweet, story of bisexual awakening and friends to lovers. I love stories of rockstars and music and performing, of how they do almost everything to be able to keep making music because it's not just a way of living, it's about how they ARE. Music defines them and I think Neve captured that feeling very well in this story. Both Les and Evan are devoted to their music, though both in a different way, but that doesn't mean one is less or more meaningful than the other.
And the sex...God, that was HOT!! Neve really knows how to write those scenes, because after having read quite a few m/m romance books, I tend to need something more than just the basic hot scene to keep me interested, and she always delivers.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but still, for readers going over Neve Wilder's backlist, this one should absolutely be the one for you to grap immediately. And for readers who just love a good story about rockstars, a friends to lovers and bisexual awakening, this book is for you, because it's awesome. Highly recommended!!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2024Wilder writes beautifully. I highlighted some things just for how they sounded or were crafted. Les and Evan have to work hard for their HEA. For two people who are so in sync musically, they struggle to connect and be vulnerable with each other for a lot of this story. Evan especially has a hard time trusting Les, so it takes him a long time to accept and act on his attraction to Les, and even longer to admit to having feelings for him. Les has been aware of his feelings for a long time, but he never believed Evan could feel the same for him, so he spent a lot of time and energy hiding his feelings.
The story is well done and affecting. I was very invested in them and wanted them to figure it all out. But I also wish there had been a prologue that took place before their night with Ella, so we could see them together and get a sense of why Les loved Evan and to see how compatible they are. I’m sure the interview snippets we get every few chapters was supposed to do that but it wasn’t enough because it was them performing for an interview so it was hard to know how authentic it was. It’s just that for most of the story Evan is either upset with or uncomfortable with Les, so it’s hard to understand exactly why Les loves him so much, and why Evan eventually starts getting feelings too.
Still, it was engaging and I was always invested. And the writing is great.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2019I don't give 5 stars very often. In fact, 5 stars are usually reserved for Joanna Chambers, KJ Charles, Sidney Bell and occasionally Spencer Spears. But Dedicated TOTALLY deserves 5 stars. I read it in one sitting. I didn't get to any of the errands that I needed to do, or any of the housework. I totally forgot about the laundry in the washer. I didn't realize that I was still wearing my uncomfortable yoga bra. (Yoga was the only thing I DID get to today). And as soon as I'm done with this review, I'm going to buy Wilder's other book.
Great characters, great plot, great slow burn, great sexytimes, great angst, great dialog. Honestly, great everything. Other writers who try to write about musicians (Raleigh Ruebins, I'm looking at you) should read this book. Nearly everything about the music industry is spot on. I only have two little quibbles.....
The timeline of writing/creating an album's worth of songs, recording, releasing, promoting and touring is wayyyyy too truncated in Dedicated. Six months for the whole third album cycle and 9 months for the whole 4 album process is unrealistic. Also, nearly every performer will tell you that the lights on the stage are so bright that they can hardly see the audience, much less pick out and/or talk to specific people. There are exceptions (daytime, outdoor shows or a super close pit with no barricade), but Les' habit of calling out to people in the crowd.... probably not realistic. I've been on stage with bands/singers a few times. The audience is just a big morass.
But two tiny quibbles in a whole book?? If that's it, that's really good for me. I loved Dedicated and can't wait for the rest of the series.
Oh, and the cover pic of Les looks A LOT like Adam Lambert, so, bonus points!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2025I started this book thinking it would be another low angst love story. I was surprised to find myself so emotionally invested. My eyes filled with tears during the Facebook Live part near the end. It was a great book. I’m sad it’s over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Les!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chemistry, chaos and sweet moments
This is my first foray into Neve Wilder’s books, long overdue, and an excellent start! This story about two very different men who found their musical chemistry three albums ago is sooo good.
Les, wild boy stereotype, will be addicted to or f**k anything and seems to have an insatiable libido and an ability to mess up royally. Evan (who I keep just calling Porter because Les does), our cautious, contained man who gets up at silly o’clock to go for a run and wants to keep his private life private and doesn’t get attracted to anyone easily. Both characters, and side characters Byron, Blink, Mars, Leigh...they’re all distinct and relatable personalities and you feel like you could just speak to them and they’d reply.
We meet them when they’re a bit down - album three is going badly and the tour is awkward at best. You can feel the tension from the start, and with chapters being narrated by either Evan or Les we’re aware of their individual confused feelings much quicker than they really are. There’s tension and angst and frustration, but also these guys really appreciate their need for each other in their musical lives. It’s sometimes heartwarming friendship and sometimes total chaos.
The romance really kicks in about half-two thirds of the way through, and while there’s good sex and snarled-up emotions and screwups along the way, I was really rooting for both of them through it all. They’re so cute when they just relax!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good one
I liked the boys, very much. Neve herself recommend this book to me, & it didn't disappoint me. I was looking for angst & so many other things, surely it has that, but a little something lost & I can't pin point, thus the 4 stars. Otherwise, it's an amazing story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice read
I don't usually love music romance because I just can't connect with the millions descriptions of singing/music or whatever but thankfully it was not the case in this book.
It was very character focused which I love and probably would have skyrocketed the rating to 4 stars (especially with the bi rep) but it dragged a bit in the middle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow start, but then WOW!!
I will admit at the start I underestimated how good this book would turn out to be. For me, it started out really slow and very dry. There was no connection between the 2 MCs, and they didn't communicate. The alternating POVs just gave 2 completely independent accounts of events which was a little disjointed. THEN it happened! They went to the cabin to work on their next album. When it was just the 2 of them, the tension became palpable, and with the brief flashbacks, the discord made sense. I started to get a better feel for both characters and their inner workings as their thoughts focused on more personal aspects rather than the tour they had been on at the start. As things progressed, I saw the chemistry between them - Evan was hiding it deep down inside, and Les was doing everything and anything to distract him, and us, from how he felt for Evan.
What was truly beautiful was how I found myself longing to be able to hear them play, to put music to the lyrics that we got a brief insight into. I was sucked in further and found myself 100% invested in the story.
That depth, I did not expect. The angst and pull on my heartstrings, I did not expect. Not after those first couple of dry chapters. So to anyone who finds the same - KEEP READING! It is worth it!
