Hi, thanks for stopping by my author page.

I write emotionally charged mystery books about ordinary people dealing with everyday situations until something goes badly wrong. (There is usually a dead body in there somewhere).

My first series - the Sophie Brown Mystery Series is dark and gritty. The second series - the Dotty Drinkwater Mystery series is cozy, full of zany lighthearted escapades.

'Dotty Defends a Detective' was thrilling. Its pulsating plot was filled with the annoyance of a loved one, a death, charging a police friend with murder, Dotty's busybody impulses, unraveling a riddle, obtaining a memory stick, snapping pictures of the potential culprits, involving the police, oh no...was a mistake made, suspense, tension, action, hooray for a comeuppance, the wedding of the year, and a guy named Keith.
Dotty, the protagonist, wouldn't be Dotty if she didn't get involved, especially for her detective friend. Overall, I loved the frenzied build-up in this narrative and tried, in vain, to figure out the suspect.

Dotty gets a phone call from DS Dave Banks early one morning. It seems that Dave and his partner, Toby, are having issues. Dave is very frustrated with Toby and complaining to Dotty helps relieve some of the stress. Meanwhile, Dotty and Kylie are also busy preparing for Rachel's upcoming wedding. They have been asked to be bridesmaids and are looking forward to getting their dresses.

As Dotty is preparing to call Dave, he calls her. Dave is terribly upset and says Toby is dead. He does not get a chance to say any more, as the police show up and Dave has to talk to them. After not hearing from Dave for a couple of days, Dotty calls Dave's friend, Neil. Neil informs her that Dave has been arrested for Toby's murder. Even his fellow officers seem to think he is guilty, since his prints were found on the murder weapon.

Who killed Toby? Is Dave being framed for the crime? Being a policeman means he has no shortage of enemies. Can Dotty and her friends help Dave and find out what really happened? Will Dotty's investigation interfere with Rachel's wedding preparations?

Diane Ezzard has created another wonderful adventure with Dotty Drinkwater and her friends. The situations are very realistic and there is some humor throughout to keep the story moving.

The Dotty Drinkwater Mystery Series always delivers! Diane Ezzard’s Dotty Defends a Detective took me away from any worries about the pandemic, politics, and any other burden. For several hours I sat back and enjoyed Dotty and her friends; one is getting married, one needs a new man in her life, and one is about to be arrested. Dotty and yet another friend start “interfering with the investigation.” For me it was a pleasant, relaxing read. The characters are delightful.

The story is engaging and fun in this, like the other Dotty books. I find the grammar and punctuation errors to be off putting. Surely proofreading would find and fix these.

This is my third Dotty novel and I have enjoyed them all. They are sweet stories, nothing deep and dark, and that's a nice way to spend some reading time.

Dotty is on the case to clear her friend! This story is very well written and the characters are well rounded. There are plenty of twists that kept me guessing. Overall, this is a very good read! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
