Disturbed Kindle Edition
The Second World War has taken its toll of our young men and women during the campaign, some cracking under the constant bombardment of the falling bombs and black-outs, some unable to resist the evil thoughts that envelope them as they descend into the horrors of a tortured mind.
Unable to deal with their urges, society has locked them away, drugging them from the need to harm others, the want to inflict their sick twisted fantasies on any other innocent victims.
But who watches these monsters? Who has to feed them? Who has to bathe them and calm them when their ghosts come knocking on their cell doors at night? That fine job belongs to the warden.
Arthur has spent a lifetime under Hamer House Hospital, walking the ward, mopping its floor and ruling the corridor with ruthless, loving authority. But now he needs help. Who will come to his aid when the monsters are off their leashes?

Pamela Jeffs is an award-winning speculative fiction author living in Queensland, Australia. Her work has been recognised numerous times in the Australian Aurealis Awards, Ditmar Awards, Australasian Shadow Awards and has also been noted in the Writers of the Future Competition.
Gregg Cunningham 50, born Scotland currently serving out his time in the largest penal colony on earth.
So far I have had 20 short stories published over the last 5 years, each tale a greater challenge than the one before.Competition out there is tough so my rejection list seems to be getting even longer! All the more time to practice, and produce something special.
Mostly I try humour/horror/ science fiction- tongue firmly in cheek dead pan humour. My first story was picked up by 559 publishing and printed in 13 Bites volume III - titled "Stacey" which was about a seance that goes horribly wrong and a horny teen who has to deal with the bloody aftermath. A few good giggles in that one.
I've scattered a few breadcrumbs in many anthology books, some tales carrying on from other stories hidden away.
One such story is "War Pig" picked up by Zombie Pirate Publishing in their anthology 'World War Four'. My tale follows the life of an old time travelling pilot as he battles enemies above the mining craters of our Moon, before finding himself lost in time, a reluctant prisoner of war caught while trying to steal the very secret enemy technology that began his adventures.
Some technology just ain't worth the blood spilled to capture.
Or is it?
Another tale follows Sydney, a young girl lost in space and trying to survive against the stacking odds against her as her Oxygen supply leaks away.
'The Lucky One' can be found inside Deep Space Volume 1 Black Hare Press.
-UPDATE- Her latest Adventure out August 2021 finds Sydney teaming up with a very familiar Mechanical Medical mech as they battle a common foe.
look out for 'Jonah' in Black Ink Fiction's Space Opera Anthology.
Scruddin' Awesome that one!
My First Novellete release in 2020- WARDENCLYFFE is a tongue in cheek daring doo adventure following Captain Swarley Paxmore as he battles monstrosities over the Atlantic ocean onboard the infamous Titanic.
Swarley's second adventure Loves great adventurer is Published soon with Breaking Rules Europe releasing their Adventure Awaits Anthology late 2021.
I hope you read a few of my short tales on your own travels, and enjoy the yarns.
Thanks for stopping by.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI began reading this during brief study breaks, was sucked in, and stayed up late to finish it. It's sort of a horror anthology, where different authors write the parts of patients housed in a psychiatric facility in 1950's England, but it's more like a collaborative cohesive novel.
The structure of the stories/story was great, the characters were vivid and disturbing, the writing flowed together despite being penned by multiple authors, some of the twists were brutal. Genuinely psychologically bothersome, which if you know my taste is saying something. I have a pretty high tolerance, so fair warning.
Not perfect, the end is not as fleshed out as the beginning and ends too abruptly, with some of the tight interlocking loosening a bit as we head for the conclusion (which could have used 5-10 more pages to wrap up properly). The last page, essentially saying "That's it! Hope you enjoyed!" sharply and unforgivingly threw me out of the narrative, and there are a couple of very miniscule gaps I would have liked filled in - like not finding out more about one of the character's daughters and her relationship with her father/whereabouts, and a bit of vagueness surrounding Pat's story but, really, those are minor complaints. Highly recommended to horror fans! 4.5/5
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2022Format: KindleTo be truthful, I found this book difficult to read, not because it was poorly written, but because it was so well written. Horror is not my genre of choice, so I needed time after each chapter to work through what I had read. The stories behind each of the patients were deep and touching, even when discussing the horrendous things that had put them in this ward for the criminally insane. When the last of the patients had been introduced, I was still wondering what we, the reader, was doing there—then wham, the plot took a quick 90 degree turn and it all fit into place. I had to admit, I was disappointed in the end, but actually there could be no other option if the authors wanted to keep in line with the theme of the book.
If I didn’t really like it, why did I still give it 5 Stars? It’s because this book did as advertise, it was about the disturbed which leaves the reader feeling disturbed. If you are into Psychological, or Physical, Horror, this is most definitely the book for you. Stephen King could not have done no better.
