Born in a small town in north central Oregon, H. L. Burke spent most of her childhood around trees and farm animals and was always accompanied by a book. Growing up with epic heroes from Middle Earth and Narnia keeping her company, she also became an incurable romantic.

An addictive personality, she jumped from one fandom to another, being at times completely obsessed with various books, movies, or television series (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Star Trek all took their turns), but she has grown to be what she considers a well-rounded connoisseur of geek culture.

Married to her high school crush who is now a retired US Marine, she has moved multiple times in her adult life but believes that home is wherever her husband, two daughters, and pets are.

She is the author of The Supervillain Rehabilitation Project Superhero Universe, the Award Winning (2016 Realm Award for Young Adult Fiction) Nyssa Glass Steampunk series, and MG/Fantasy "Cora and the Nurse Dragon," among others.

What do you get when you take two scholars, a dragon, three princes, time travel, a rather nasty king, and a dollop of magic? You get an engaging saga from H.L. Burke that will keep you entertained for days.

This four-book series is the perfect solution for those who can't get enough of the dragon lore from one book. For those who love romance, you will be torn as to whether you want Prince Ewan to regain his human form through magic or whether you wish him the freedom to remain a dragon and forever skim the earth as he floats through the clouds high above.

This is a story about the most unlikely love, friendship, family fidelity, hope, and integrity in the face of unbelievable odds.

In this time period of political upheaval, it's refreshing to read a story where good attempts to thwart the evil powers that would rule the people with an iron hand and no compassion.

I had originally purchased the book for my eleven-year-old granddaughter, but after reading the Kindle version, I've decided to hold onto the softcover version for a few more years. There is nothing in the book that is objectionable, but some of the scenes would create too great an imagination for a child her age.

Overall, the book was a fun and fast read. There were a few formatting issues with the combination of the four books on the Kindle, but nothing that would prevent me from enjoying all four books. I started reading the softcover version, but it was so heavy, I ended up purchasing the Kindle version to complete the read.

Another winner from a wonderful author. You come to fall in love with and care for the characters as they grapple with the trials the author throws at them, which leads to great character development until you're sorry to say goodbye to them at the end. The romance grows slow and steady, rather than the love-at-first-sight approach, which I always prefer. Political turmoil and secrets within the kingdoms also lends some great suspense and action, and I enjoyed the humor as well. There were some parts where I felt the romance got a little overly dramatic, and sometimes the heroine seemed too dependent on her love interest for my taste. Overall, it was easy and enjoyable to read and very hard to put down.

It's a light read, and there are some proofreading goofs, but not enough to keep it from being entertaining. I liked Shannon right way, and the rest of the good guys grew on me, even exasperating Ewan. I posted individual reviews of the first three volumes on Goodreads.

The final volume separates the newly-wedded Ewan and Shannon for much of the book again, as Ewan and Martin seek a permanent solution among the long-lived dragons, who still remember the Wild Magic, or <spoiler>back in the days of the human rise against the cruel Fey queen, led by the brothers' ancestor, that began the founding of Regone</spoiler>. Several interesting new characters are introduced, and the fates of King Riley of Westshire and of Ryan's hidden son, are settled <spoiler>in the present, and that of the rebels and to some extent the Fey, in the past</spoiler>. The resolution is sweet with just a touch of bittersweet, then the decades-later epilogue is more so. In all, a highly satisfying conclusion.

This series has it all. Dragons, good versus evil, enchantment, true love, dragons, courage, adventure...did I mention dragons? A cast of interesting, likeable characters (with the exception of a few very unlikable ones). It's the sort of story you fall into and maybe come up for air hours later, having lived the events as much as read them. Well done. I'm on my second reading and thinking of purchasing a paper edition for my permanent collection.

    Oh, the epilogue was beautiful!

Ahe. This 4th book was just perfect. Maybe a touch predictable, but what can you expect with time travel?

There was tension all the way through. Would Ewan and Martin escape Idriss? Would Ryan find Rowan? I maintained the hope that Daisy was still alive. I even thought Martin might prove to really be Orin. I didn't catch what Regone had been named after until Ewan said it.

Shannon's plight was touching but dull. At least the torture with Martin made up for it. Will and Ryan also had a bit of an easy time, too. Will was almost too capable. Still, it was a fun read.

LOVED it! I read all 4 books one after the other in about 3 days. I enjoyed having the whole series at my fingertips because I am always dying to know what happens next.

This series has it all romance, adventure, danger, and dragons! The last book was probably my favorite since it went off in a much different direction than the other 3 books.

The tales progress nicely to show meaningful relationship growth. I enjoyed following our hero learn to accept and even improve his Dragon life. Having a scholar be the most accepting of the different being made me happy, as a scholar myself. I did enjoy the story, and found I guessed some twists before they were revealed. I can happily recommend this series to all ages of readers.
