Under the Dragon's Spell (MM Gay Shifter Mpreg Romance) (Fires of Fate Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 939 ratings

Hiring: One omega male to provide an heir to Dragon Island's most eligible bachelor.

Coming from a broken home, all Adrian's ever wanted was to start a family of his own. When his boyfriend kicks him out, though, it looks like that's never going to happen.

Down on his luck, Adrian's about ready to give up on his dreams when he finds a job offer in the newspaper. A rich dragon shifter is looking for an omega to give him an heir. Adrian could be that omega.

Having a baby with a stranger, even if he’s enigmatic and hot as hell, is not his definition of happiness, but when he finds himself falling for the dragon, he starts to hope again.

The only problem?

He's not the only man who's applied for the job. If Adrian wants a shot at the future he's always dreamed of, he needs to beat the competition and claim the dragon's heart for himself.

This is the first book I've read by this author. It was GREAT! I'm so sorry I didn't read this book sooner -- actually that's not true. I have had the opportunity to purchase the other three books in the series and don't need to wait for the next in the series to come out now. Yea Hurray! 🙌 I had no idea what was coming. I just wanted to read a Dragon shifter book. I almost didn't read it because of the length, but to my surprise I found myself not wanting the story to end.

I love the author's take on male pregnancies. Only Human and not Dragon shifters have male Omegas who are capable of having babies. The main Omega character, Adrian has always wanted to have children, every since he learned it was something he was capable of doing. Then why hasn't he become pregnant?! Despite being in a long term relationship. Despite fertility tests. At first he thought things were made worse when his female best friend, Luca gets pregnant and has a child. But unfortunately that is the least of his worse experiences regarding pregnancy.

When he finds himself crying on a city street feeling so low, thrown away, and desperate he figures he has no choice, but to reach out to an older brother that he'd rather have nothing to do with. But he's out of options. Lucky for Adrian, his brother reluctantly allows him to stay, in exchange for meals and a promise to help with rent in the future. Miserable Adrian sees an ad for a Human Omega to be used as a brood mare for a rich handsome Dragon. Unfortunately his brother sees the ad too and insists Adrian apply. This is definitely not how he wanted to become a father, but feels he has no choice.

Adrian is shocked when he is selected amongst others to compete for the position of the Omega to be chosen to bear the Dragon's child. A very cocky arrogant Dragon, Tyrel has always been contemptuous of Humans. Considering them nothing more than playthings. It's his strong willed, control freak powerful Dragon mother that set all this in motion. A woman who has struck fear in the hearts of many.

There are several secondary characters introduced: the contestants to be the Dragon's Omega and the Dragon's immediate family, that are important. Because of how they impact not just the main characters, but the backstory they emerge from and the storyline they create. The length of the book allows the author to thoroughly explore the relationships between the characters and bring the reader along for an entertaining ride. These characters importance becomes more apparent as they return in subsequent books in the Fires of Fate series.

This is the Dragon shifter version of "The Bachelor". A number of contestants vying for the chance to get that rose. The rose in this case is the right to bear the heir for a very important Dragon shifter family. No one was expecting a strong mutual attraction between a contestant and the prize giver. Despite an unique unconventional Omega Alpha repartee, the two view each other favorably, to the point that others notice. Which turns out not to be a good thing.

This is an entertaining, exciting book which is just the beginning of a four book (so far) series that I can not wait to get back to. I will be starting Book 2 as soon as I finish this review. This book was such a fantastic surprise I hope others discover it, especially folks who love reading about mpreg, Omegas, and Dragon shifters. Or if you haven't read about them before this is the book that can get you engaged. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Adrian is a human omega thrown out of his boyfriend's house because said boyfriend got someone else pregnant. With no p!ace to live, no job and no money he asks his brother to take him in but the pressure to help with the bills weighs on him. He sees an ad that a rich dragon family is looking for an omega to carry an heir and his brother insists that he answer the ad. So begins a tentative relationship that finally evolves into love and twins. It was good world building that is sure to be used in subsequent books and I am going to read them all!

A cute story. But there were MANY times (actually most of the book) where Adrian was really a heroine in hero's clothing. I basically switched him to F in my mind so I could read it without resistance. The characters didn't really come alive a whole lot either. Especially Tyler, why did he like Adrian so much? How did he get over his daddy issues? Why did he go along so much with his mom's plan? You sort of got answers, but nothing deep. It was a very surface story, but cute. A quick read. Won't be continuing the series. Don't care enough. Though happy it's Michael, he seemed cool from this book.

I liked this book a lot. My heart broke for poor Adrian but I was glad to see him get away from Rory. Unfortunately his brother wasn't any better and I couldn't wait for him to meet his mate. His first encounter with Tyrel was great. I knew they were going to be fun. But when things took a reality tv turn, I was less than thrilled. Thankfully Tyrel knew who he wanted. I liked that we got to see their relationship play out through Adrian's pregnancy. And that bonding....loved it! I would have liked more with Tyrel's mother accepting their mating and a little bit of the first interaction between Tyrel's parents. But Tyrell and Adrian's story was good and I'm looking forward to reading Kylan and Michael's.

Sweet, cute, heartbroken Adrian, just wants to find true love and have children. What he found was a beautifully handsome, dark dragon who believes all humans are fools. When Adrian answers the newspaper ad Tyrel's mother placed, Tyrel gets the surprise of his life. This was a light and lovely story about how two very strong men, learning how to love, find fate. This is my first book by this author, I have already bought book #2. I liked the idea and concept of this story. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK

I enjoyed this book. The humor and light heartedness balanced the angst and drama perfectly. Grammar Tyrant: overall the book was well edited. Near the end, last 25%, errors began to appear. Not enough for me to stop but enough to be annoying. Still, I would definitely recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpected and brilliant....

I wasn't sure what to expect from this tale, but that just made it all the more exciting to read. I enjoyed the unusual start to the relationship and the even more unusual progression of it. I loved the total honesty between Adrian and Tyrel... their instant, mutual and intense attraction to each other....their fight to work at their unusual relationship...their support for each other and the eventual love and bond.

I love Adrian's quiet and determined strength, especially apparent when he demanded parental equality and repeatedly stood up to Tyrel's formidable mum.

I enjoyed watching the fascinating and definite changes that his 'human' brought about in Tyrel... especially bringing him back to family. Great HEA.

Kinda hope Adrian hooks Tyrel's brother up with Micheal (I think they'd make another fun couple).

Adrian had it rough, being kicked out from his lover in the most cruel way. Still he cant shake off his want for a baby and a family of his own. Despite what happened to him, he always had hope, i realy love this about this book. Thought understandably he is cautious when meeting Tyran, his hope and a strong pull towards the man drive Adrian to go along with the demands of the job application process even thought they are painful for him for more then one reason. Then finally when it seems his hope will finally come true, new struggles await him and his new mate.
This book was really easy to read, one could feel the emotions comming of the characters and was really wishing along with them. It has a very nice HEA but i was a bit sad, simply because i could have gone on and on reading about this sweet cupple. I hope to read much more of them in the next books i definitely plan to read of this series.
