A Dress to Die For: Felicity Philips Investigates Book 4 Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,242 ratings

‘If it says Steve Higgs on the cover, I know I won't put it down until ’I've read the last page.’
‘This author writes so well that the reader feels as though they are in the series.’

When Felicity Philips visits a wedding dress boutique only to find the owner strangled and posed, she finds herself unwittingly embroiled in yet another desperate investigation.

The dead dressmaker has been stuffed into a near priceless one-off by a famous designer and somehow three of Felicity’s brides have paid a deposit for it. Is one of them the killer?

With arch-rival, Primrose Green, stirring things up and the palace decision on who will run the next royal wedding looming, Felicity needs to get ahead of the impending PR disaster and fast.

But killer brides aren’t her only concern.

Her newest employee’s old boss wants her to fire him and looks set to stop at nothing to make her do it, local P.I. Vince Slater is still trying to romance her knickers off, and there’s a ghost in her office.

I wonder who she’ll hire to sort that out?

Get ready for another frenetic adventure as Felicity Philips grabs her sassy cat, make-believe-superhero dog, and ninja niece, and sets out to uncover who wanted the dress badly enough to kill for it.

She had better pray she does, because this is a dress to die for, and the killing might not be finished yet.

Marriage. It can be absolute murder.

"Another great series from the wonderfully talented Steve higgs, I've lived everything he's written so far and can't wait for the new ones in the series to be released, love the fact they all have dogs in them. If you've not read any yet, please do, you won't be disappointed."

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Happy to report latest Felicity book by Steve Higgs still engages my interest. This time Felicity finds the body of a dress shop owner. Who killed her and why? We find out there is a 1 of a kind dress- which has been promised to 3 brides with the caveat whoever fits in it first -Wins- Felicity and her animals Buster and Amber who she can speak too and understand their reply’s along with her niece and some other friends set out to discover who did it and why. I have read all these stories so far and each book fills out the characters more so they almost walk off the page. Thanks to Steve Higg for penning such fun intriguing tales and also for being part of kindle unlimited

Well this was something messy with many bodies dropping. But then with a dress to die for you do get a group of your clients not surviving for the wedding. But almost getting killed too? Not nice!! Good thing Vince is in love with Felicity. now can something happen to her heart?

Intriguing story about murder in a bride shop. Three ladies vying for one designer dress, who wins depends on her size and staying alive. I enjoyed the mystery and doing a crossover from another story. The ending came abruptly for me so 4 stars instead of 5. Steve Higgs is a great writer.

I laughed out loud at some of Buster's antics. I really enjoyed this book. I think I have a soft spot for verbal dogs and older ladies. OK, she's not that old; but in my head, she is definitely older.

I so enjoy Steve’s books; he’s a wonderful writer and his stories are so well-written and move fast. Great character development, intriguing cozy mystery, and just the right amount of cross-over for added texture and interest. I love how Steve so adeptly addressed body shaming without bringing the story down. I laughed out loud at the humorous verbal jabs between Amber and Buster, as well the various predicaments Felicity gets into. Mindy and Vincent are both a hoot! Can hardly wait for your next one, Mr Higgs!

A different take on the cut throat business of wedding planning. The villain of the story is obvious and once again Felicity can’t figure it out.

I have a quirky sense of humour & love the situations Felicity finds herself in. Love the way she tries to get herself out of these sticky situations. This story addresses some interesting topics & does it with respect. No everyone will enjoy it but I certainly did!

I have read every book by Steve Higgs so far. It's amazing how he can change his style for "The Realm of False Gods". Normally I would shun anything that is a "cozy mystery" Those I imagine to be written by little old ladies in Wisconsin! Not so here, these are very amusing ! The only slight jar is that the Author has included the American audience with names & spellings- my Kindle does the same ! I enjoyed the crossover in this book between the various characters very much. I congratulate him on output, I was lucky enough to start reading when the books were already in the Kindle Store, I regard anything on Kindle Unlimited to be a gift from the Universe ! I am now reading them all again !
