Dance with the Devil: A Dark Standalone Romance (The Midnight Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1,831 ratings

She has no idea she’s working for a monster. The Devil incarnate.

Frankie
Dr. Dante Kincaid is a world-renowned psychiatrist—and my boss.
When a hotel mix-up forces us to share a suite on a business trip, everything changes.
He’s shrouded in secrets, always keeping his distance while he bosses me around in those pristine suits.
When he tells me to lock my door at night, I should listen.
But my curiosity about what he’s hiding after dark is too strong to ignore.

Dante
Francesca is my darkest obsession, and my most dangerous vulnerability.
My condition compels me to keep her at a distance, but my emotions are in turmoil, making it impossible to maintain control.
I thought I had her all figured out–that what happens in the dark should stay in the dark.
But the truth is, after one taste… I’ll never be able to stop.

Dance with the Devil is a full-length, dark standalone romance. It has a HEA. Please check the triggers. No, really. While this book isn’t pitch black, there are a lot of troubling themes.

Amanda has done it again! I typically don't lean towards dark/gray stories, and I was hesitant because of the content list, but Amanda is an auto-buy author for me, so I gave it a go, and I am SO glad I read Dance with the Devil! I devoured this story and found it very hard to put it down when I needed to step away.

Full of obsessiveness, games of stubbornness, s**somnia, and more I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the darker themes this story explores. I loved how once Doctor Devil got Francesca in the same room with him, he slowly started to open up and reveal his true feelings for her.

If you like broody, obsessive, morally dark MMCs and smart but stubborn FMCs, then what are you waiting for?!?! This book is absolutely for you.

    Loved this dark romance.
It is a short read, which I like.
He is a physiatrist and she is his virtual assistant.
They have never meet, but she can’t stand him.
His is rude, bossy, and insults her all the time.
He has become on obsessed with her over the last two years. She has know idea that he knows every little thing about her, he has been cyber stalking her.
He tells her he wants her to accompany him to a medical conference and this is the first time they will meet.
She is not very excited to be going and even less excited to find out they will be sharing a room.
She find out there is more to him than she thought, sparks are sparking.
He is determined to keep her.
This is dark. There is some things that people may not like, so check the warnings before reading.

Oh my. After you finish with Richardson’s delightful “Dance With The Devil”, you will not be telling the Devil to get behind me..although if he is Dante, you should.
I loved the story and the way that Dante and Frankie had a dynamic relationship that had such a flawless chemistry as they evolved.

This was a fast read for me but man was it good. Yes it was taboo and some might be triggered but there is a warning in the front of the book. It's fiction so let us pervy people perv! LOL. The characters I really enjoyed and the back story and epilogue made it all the better.

Somno supremacy but also as a medical condition just adds a little bit of extra spice to everything. I remember when I first read this I was floored. As a somno enthusiast, this took it further and the mind tricks on top ended up being the perfect storm for me. I went back to reread because I realized i didn't write a review (I probably immediately had to take the coldest shower after reading) and next thing you know I'm right back where i was. I loved Frankie trying to one up Dante while Dante knows what she's trying to do and just trys to keep a level head on his side. The cat and mouse of it all was so good and then with the BC removal.. firstly as someone with the same BC i will now start bringing a back up on trips and I can see how that would be hot *if consensual or if frankie had known* i feel like with book that dabble in taboo topics like this, when done right sound so hot in the moment of reading it and then you sober up and calm down and you think about the actual consequences and that's how you mentally touch grass. I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Devil's in the Details
Reviewed in Canada on August 12, 2024
They say that the Devil's in the details, and that's true for Amanda Richardson's Dance With the Devil because the little details that offer insights into the characters make the book in this dark enemies-to-lovers romance with heart, heat, and humor. I'm not usually a fan of instalove stories, but MMC Dante and FMC Frankie have so much off-page tension buildup that theirs doesn't read like an instalove relationship and is realistic enough to be believable, not to mention sweet (despite the dubious behavior that would be a big red flag IRL). I love each of Amanda's books that I've read, including this one, and I can't wait to read more of them.

I loved this book! I loved how easily I fell into this story, how appealing the characters were, how enjoyable and easy the plot was while still spicy and making you question your moral code knowing full well you’d let the MMC Cole do exactly what he was doing to the FMC Francesca!

Hot boss and secretary vibes! Loved it!

From the first page to the last, this was easily a very interesting story. I loved the MMC, MFC and their chemistry together.

The breeding kink, possessive mmc and pregnancy themes were spot on. I'd read more from this author with these themes as she writes them well.

Loved this! The characters, the story and the 🌶🥵.

It’s great to see a story in the dark romance space that isn’t about an innocent virgin, but real life issues like life after pregnancy loss. Yes check the trigger warnings but honestly this author represents the issues so well. The obsession trope done so so amazingly!

Anything from Amanda Richardson will be an instant read for me after this one.
