Dix (Elite 8 Studios Book 1) Kindle Edition
Dixon
If I had to choose one word to describe my new cocky costar, it’d be exasperating. Nikolas Adamos may look like a Greek god—and he certainly struts around like he knows it—but unlike everyone else, I refuse to fall prey to his charms.
Unfortunately for me, Niko and I get paired to do a series of lovey-dovey boyfriend videos for our employers at Elite 8 Studios. And when you film the sort of scenes we do, up close and personal takes on a whole new meaning.
I may have to play nice while the cameras are rolling, but off set, it’s another matter entirely. So what if our chemistry is off the charts? That doesn’t mean a thing. Nor does the tender look in Niko’s eye when we’re together under the lights.
Because I know the truth. Nikolas Adamos revels in riling me up. And even though my pesky friends think I need fireworks after a string of fizzled relationships, I have no doubt if I allow myself to get any closer to my new fake boyfriend, I’ll only end up burned.
Dix is a grumpy/sunshine, one-sided enemies-to-lovers romance with hate at first sight, forced proximity for two costars who work between the sheets, banter and snark galore, plenty of industrial-sized lube, and one very HEA. It’s book 1 in the Elite 8 Studios series, featuring characters that were introduced in Virgin Hearts (Plum Valley Cowboys Book 2), but can be read as a standalone.

Dixon (aka Dix) is an adult entertainer who thrives on routine - the gym and his morning coffee are a must before he heads to work or does anything else. He’s grumpy and standoffish on the best of days and rarely lets anyone get close, with the exceptions of Mateo and Alex. But, when people do get close, he’s the softest, sweetest man who is still trying to live up to his unaccepting parents’ expectations. Dix is incredibly observant and uses that skill to keep an eye on his friends to make sure they’re safe and taken care of.
Nikolas (aka Niko or Adonis) is the newest addition to the Elite 8 Studios team and is thrown right into it. He looks like a Greek god (hence his performer name) and has the big, close-knit Greek family to go along with it. Niko is friends with everyone, always has a smile on his face and a kind word to say. He’s confident and determined to make Dix like him, even though he’s not exactly sure how to make that happen. His family is such a big part of his life and I loved their interactions and how honest they were with each other.
Dix knows of Niko from his amateur videos but they meet on Niko’s first day when they’re assigned a new story arc where they’re playing boyfriends. Even though there’s some annoyance with Niko on Dix’s side, they have to act like they’re in love for the cameras, making them both feel things they didn’t expect and don’t really know how to process. Their relationship starts backwards in a lot of ways but once they communicate and work through things together, they realize just how well-suited they are for each other. They’re supportive and sweet in a way you don’t expect and I really liked how Niko’s family so easily accepted Dixon as one of their own.
I’m stressed about what’s going on with Malibu and can’t wait to get my hands on his story. He’s such a sweetheart but there’s a lot going on there and I can’t wait to find out more. Bring on more of the Elite 8 Studios team!
I loved the grumpy/sunshine in this. Dix struggled to comprehend his true feelings towards Nico. They were both sweet guys. The side characters were very likable and had me wanting to read their stories right after this.
Dix seemed more playful when he was living with Mateo and we were introduced to him in the Plum Valley books. He’s harder here and I feel like I would have actually liked to see him in his previous relationship versus how this started with him already broken up with Regina.
It moved a bit slow at times and I found myself putting it down, whereas I binged the previous books. The sex scenes were hot and that’s also where most of the chemistry and sweet feelings were shown, so it was a bit of a disconnect to not feel any of that connection when the two were out of bed. So that was a bit of a fail for me, but I still love the books and the characters and will keep reading both series. Malibu is next, but I’m most looking forward to Alex’s story.
Both work in the adult movie industry and going in I wondered how this would work out. It turns out wonderfully. The way the author describes their blooming relationship is very well done and the character development is one that I didn’t expect and that was a very pleasant surprise. The relationship starts out as a one-way enemy to lovers and the way it develops lead to me not being able to put the book down before I had finished it.
The book is the first in a new series but follows in succession to the second in the Plum Valley series. You don’t have to read the books in order, but I recommend at least reading the second book at one point.
Their romantic journey is more realistic in my mind than some other M/M romances that I have read. I found this book slow in the middle but very smooth in the beginning and the ending. Love the epilogue. Malibu’s story is all keyed up from this book, which has spent a considerable amount of time giving the reader glimpses of Mal’s break down. Can’t wait to find out who his love interest will be. Will it be someone at his studio, Elite 8? Or someone outside that life? Looking forward to discovering that. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews.

Great story and characters splash in some smexy times, and I am here for it.
I'm definitely going to gobble up everything from this author.
Dix gets annoyed by Niko from the get go but as they play out the boyfriend scenes at work, behind the camera, feelings develop and walls start to break down.
It’s an interesting read, reading their emotional development was sweet. Great first book for the series, the secondary characters are set up for their own books which I look forward to read. This does have a cross over to another one of Emmy’s series too so we get to see Mateo from Plum Valley Cowboys series.
Main tropes - grumpy/sunshine, on screen to real boyfriends, pottery fun, found family. Very sweet HEA.
I was excited to find a series based on porn actors and it hasn't disappointed.
There's none of the jealousy trope and the vulnerability was heart warming.
