Purchase options and add-ons
Stay out of trouble, they said. Lay low until things blow over. Sound advice for Senior Medical Examiner Dr. Beckett Campbell, considering he was found hovering over the body of accused serial killer Craig Sloan, a bloody rock in his hand.
Sound advice, all of it. Problem is, even a vacation in the Virgin Gorda isn't far enough for Beckett to escape his demons. It doesn't help that there's something strange happening on the island, something that has to do with bitter drinks and bikinis. Something that involves drug smuggling and a secret room full of women... women who are gagged and bound.Beckett would like nothing more than to heed the sage advice of his colleagues, but he's not like them; he’s no ordinary Medical Examiner. Beckett has his own set of rules, guiding principles that take him places that the law simply refuses to go.But this comes at a price. Every time Beckett acts on his urges, he leaves a little piece of himself behind... a piece of his soul that he can never get back.Scroll up to grab your copy of the medical thriller BITTER END now!

About the author

True story: I used to cut up bodies. No, not for fun, you sickos–for work. After reaching the age of majority and fleeing the clutches of an overprotective mother, I went to university like a good boy.
More than a decade later and an alphabet soup of letters after my name, I found myself looking down the double-chamber of a microscope at an eyeball. Feeling ironically introspective, I decided that it was time for a change.
After seventy plus novels and more than a million copies sold, I’ve found my true calling, one that also includes a plethora of letters. Hopefully you see something in my catalog that you like, something to feast your eyes on.
I also have two spooky podcasts that are appropriate for ALL ages, so long as you like to be scared: P.T. Logan's Five Minutes of Terror and Camp Fear. Both are FREE and available on all podcast platforms. For MATURE audiences, I've created two fiction podcasts, Nightmare Residue and Bad Priest.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was meant to be a holiday but things just got out of hand. Dr Beckett Campbell knows that he is meant to keep a low profile after the death of a murderer. He did what he had as no one was going to get justice for nine-year-old Bentley Thomas and yes he took matters into his own hands but so be it. Now he is drinking and looking at the lovely ladies but everything changes when he gets involves with the wrong one. Now that Screech has rocked up he knows that something is up and he knows that he is here to look out for him as he knows what Beckett did. Screech just wants to get his job done and not spend too much time with Beckett as he saw what he did to that man. Beckett became someone else and he doesn't know if he can trust him again. So when they are invited to a luxury yacht they are all for it as this is Screech target but everything goes belly up when drugs and women are involved. They both are able to escape but Beckett has been set up and he knows that he only has one chance at running. Can they both get out of here alive? A good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseOriginally I read the first book in the Beckett Campbell series, “Organ Donor,” and then decided to backtrack and begin the Damian Drake series in order to catch up on events mentioned in that book, and to see how Beckett was before, well, you know. And then after finishing “Download Murder,” I decided to come back to the Beckett Campbell series and read this prequel to the series. It’s certainly on the shorter side, but it was still a lot of fun. Beckett was kind of frustrating in this one, as he was warned multiple times by several people of what he was getting into, but didn’t listen. Thinking more with something else as opposed to his brain if you catch my drift. But that just makes Beckett flawed, and he acknowledges his mistake in the end and learns. Screech also really has grown on me with this one. I wasn’t sure how to feel about him when he was introduced in the second Drake book, but “Bitter End” has made me really like him. Screech isn’t perfect himself, but he’s a loyal friend, and he also wants to do the right thing and is genuinely a good person, if a bit of a goofball at times. Really enjoyed this one and can’t to spend more time with Beckett Campbell.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2020Format: KindleVerified PurchaseMaybe you have to read some of the other books first. This is a waste of time if you haven't because you feel like you are reading about two-dimensional characters since you have no real background on them so it doesn't drum up a lot of interest. I had no clue it is only a prequel
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis continues right where Beckett was leaving NYC for a mandated vacation. Chase Adams had slipped a note to him. It told him what he needed to say to not be charged with murdering the psycho. That psycho had murdered a whole list of other people. Beckett caught him while Suzan and Drake were in the house that was burning up and he was hoping to kill them too.
Beckett is definitely off kilter after his killing. He went overboard with the kill but if my friends were on fire and he killed my student and many others who’s not to say our mind would just freak out and pound his too.
Beckett is the first killer character that I have ever really liked. He is twisted and totally not the norm at all for a Medical Examiner but that is what makes him great! He is killing people that have killed others.
I loved that Screech showed up and he definitely knows what Beckett is doing. Just amazing they are being played and I look forward to seeing what happens with all of them. I love how the characters intertwine with the other series. It is one of my favorite things when the author brings bits and pieces from their other books. Keep it up!! And keep writing!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis was the most intense, riveting exciting and dramatic thriller I have read. This story doesn't let go, it just keeps the adrenaline going. Author Patrick Logan has created a character of Dr. Becket, that you won't forget. This is not for the faint of heart. I loved it!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019Format: KindleVerified PurchaseDr. Beckett C. seems to have a dark side he was unaware of after the "Craig" death- I'm looking forward to the tricks and plans the author gives us as he subtly draws out other characters in his novels. Good back story.
