-Grit Daily's 'Horror Continues to Thrive with the Scariest Books of 2019.'
-Medium.com's 'Celebrate Halloween with These Macabre and Progressive Horror Books.'
-BuzzFeed Community's '7 New Horror Books That Will Actually Scare You.'
The Haunting of Cabin Green was the #1 Amazon best seller in the U.S. New Horror Releases category for three straight weeks. It went on to become a #1 Best-Seller in Gothic, Ghosts, U.S. Horror, and LGBT Horror. Additionally, it was the Top Vote-Getter in the Horror/Suspense category of The Kindle Book Review's 2018 Reader's Choice Awards.
Both books in her Midnight Myths and Fairy Tales series became a #1 Best Seller in Amazon's Canada store during March 2018.
Many of April's books take their inspiration from real-life events. Local history is woven throughout the Alexa Bentley Paranormal Mysteries Series, and all of her novels/novellas contain at least one or two elements from the author's life.
In her psychological thriller book, Corvo Hollows, April delved even deeper into her own real-life events through a fictionalized account of one of the freakiest encounters she's ever been involved in. The main character in Corvo Hollows also battles fibromyalgia, as does April.
Like many writers, she started putting pen to paper during early childhood. Her first project was a family newspaper entitled The Taylor Family Times. Since then, she's spent more than three decades honing her craft through a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction projects.
April's appropriately spooky black cat, Riley, is her toughest editor and critic (look for pictures of him in action - and sleeping on the job - on Instagram!).
Horror caught her attention at a young age, and she's enjoyed exploring the darkness hidden inside everyone’s psyche ever since. She's also intrigued by each person’s capacity for astounding levels of goodness in the face of overwhelming evil.
April's horror, paranormal mysteries, thrillers, and dark, reimagined myths and fairy tales tackle both these topics. The darker side of humanity is also on display inside her Fine Art and Dark Art photographs, which have been published and exhibited around the world by a diverse list of media sources such as Fangoria, Scream: The Horror Magazine, and the short horror film Cathartic.
April is a proud member of the Horror Writer's Association. She lives in Michigan with the love of her life and their two cats. If her life was a cartoon, she'd be Lisa Simpson.

Oh boy did I enjoy this! Start to finish, it was fast-paced, in your face, intense. I loved all the little horror references. The lack of detail in the writing leaves your imagination to run wild and I love it. It's an eerie cat and mouse game from start to finish.
*Spoiler Alert*
And let's all be honest, we wanted Heather to go first, she was the most insufferable character and her death was the most sweet. I was rooting for Kate to pull through to the end, and was heartbroken when it came to her time. Spencer's death was depressing, I felt for him. And Chad? I was fairly indifferent to his death.
The killer himself was impressive, smart, analytical, and terrifying. He knew what he wanted and wasn't letting a damn hurricane stop him.
I hope a second book comes out, I hope Annette gets her revenge.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2021If you are looking for the print equivalent of a Friday the Thirteenth or Halloween-style movie, look no further. The reviews were right: this is a nice, light, FAST read and quite entertaining without being the least bit challenging or thought-provoking. I read the book in a single afternoon, starting after lunch and finishing long before it was time to start dinner. I only gave it 4 starts because I would have preferred at least some semblance of back-story. Even with Halloween, or Nightmare on Elm Street, we had some idea of where the killer came from. Aside from that, it was just fine for what it was: a rainy afternoon story that will pass the time quickly. Oh and yeah, there was definitely blood.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2021I liked the characters of Spencer and Annette. And that’s about it. The killer i just found generic. Glad it was a quick read.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2021I am pleasantly happy after this read. Characters were just what they had to be to make it work. Set amid a horrendous Floridian Hurricane. What could be worse than sharks swimming alongside you... The real threat walks on two legs.... Who will survive, and for how long.....
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2021This was a quick read that kept my interest from start to finish. The characters weren't really developed but that worked for the book. I would recommend if you like frantic killer fiction. And lots of slashing.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2021Absolute dross, dont bother.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2022The book was fast paced, which I liked. Being the first book I’ve read by this author I found it to be gruesome enough with the kill scenes. I did feel like the ending was a bit fast like the book just needed to end for some reason but overall I enjoyed it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2021EVIL EYE was an absolute blast to read. The pacing is relentless, and Taylor's writing is smooth, fast, and sharp as a straight razor. The book's vivid characters make the brutal kills all the more hard-hitting. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars An unpredictable fast-paced slasher with plenty of twists and tension as the storm unfolds…
The looming threat of worsening weather combined with a killer on the loose makes for some fun and thrilling reading in a story that could easily be an evening spent at the cinema or at home via Netflix. Here we see a diverse group stranded and united by their will to survive a double whammy of hurricane and deranged killer.
From the very start there’s pace to a story that unfolds just like the hurricane that engulfs those left behind on an island. Soon enough they realise someone is hunting them down and so the real slasher story begins but it’s more than that. Each character has their own complexities and we see things from each of their unique perspectives which then interact with one another – most of the time in these stories it’s easy to pick out who will be taken down first but there’s an unpredictability here making it all the more enjoyable and page turning.
While we are used to our masked but faceless killers being without any dialogue the author carves an original path with her version of evil walking because for some of it he is also talking. As he slowly stalks his prey and throughout it feels as if there is no escape with the hurricane situation heightening that terror. And in this particular situation there is nowhere to run. To some that’s uncomfortable, but to me that’s the perfect storm of horror quite literally.
Although titled as a slasher I’ll happily admit it’s a lot more than that with some nods to modern issues in society and the wider world. Much of the time there’s seems to be a lack of ideas with the ending but for this one, there were a few final twists that capped of a fun read. So come for the slashing but stay for everything else this story is about, you’ll be pleasantly surprised while also being on edge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Should be a movie
The central premise of this book, a killer stalking survivors during a hurricane, is so good and the writer really does it justice. The characters are all interesting and engaging and the flooded Hotel location was particularly creepy.
