Exmas - An Enemies-to-Lovers Holiday Romance Kindle Edition
Everything was fine until the charming jerk went behind my back, stole my promotion, and became my boss—literally overnight. Refusing to work beneath him (professionally speaking and otherwise), I transferred 2,014 miles away to our Chicago division, and I’ve spent the past year trying to remember how much I hated his panty-melting smirk so I can forget how much I secretly loved the way his ocean eyes lit every time I walked into the room.
But he’s just announced a last-minute site visit next week, and on top of that, he’s audaciously designated me as his ‘right hand gal’ during his visit. If he thinks he has a snowball’s chance in this hell at getting back in my good graces, he’s got another thing coming.
Reed York might be a man used to getting everything he’s ever wanted, but Joa Jolivet is a woman that never forgets.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2018Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI loved this one. Totally loved it and couldn't read fast enough. It had all the feels. And the ending bordered on pure magic that plastered a huge smile across my face.
Reed and Joa had a no string attached relationship back in LA. Co-worker/friends-with-benefits and rules. No labels, no ties. And it worked for twelve months. Until he got the promotion she desperately wanted. Fast forward a year later and Reed is nearing the end of a plan and hopes to reconnect with Joa, the one who got away. With his heart.
This is a story about sacrifice, love, and appreciation with a grand focus on family. The author does a stellar job of showing two very different lives and people without throwing massive amounts of information in your face. It was as if each chapter revealed another clue to their character, their history, their family or upbringing. Joa has no idea why Reed could have done what he did, and yes, there's a reason. And while you want to dislike him for what he did, as each tiny piece of himself is revealed, you can't help but cheer for them to finally make it together.
The sexual tension between the character is obvious. You can feel it jumping from the page. Through Reed, you see the tiny things many people take for granted. Everyday things he never had. I loved Joa's family. Loved them. And it's obvious how critical they were to her strength of character and I loved their role in awakening Reed's desire for more. I wasn't thrilled about the jumping back and forth in time frames, but the author does preface the story with a note that the "past" sections can be skipped. I'm glad I didn't skip them. The story is not the same without the additional insight.
There's emotion here. Tons of passion and love. It's a story about family and not knowing what you want because you've never experienced it. But once you realize it's that missing "thing" you've wanted your entire life, you will fight for it and never take it for granted. It's a common plot element in stories, but here, I genuinely felt it.
Not all books hit all the notes with all reads. This one did for me. Although this wasn't a perfect book (no book is), I didn't care. The emotions and the appreciation for the tiniest of details were so beautiful to read and eloquently written, they outshined anything else for me.

My Rating: Four Delightfully Entertaining Stars****
Once Thanksgiving rolls around, I always find myself in the mood to gorge on holiday stories and Exmas caught my eye. Winter Renshaw has been one of my favorite go-to authors for years, especially when I'm in the mood for a sweet contemporary romance with a splash of heat, and this book certainly fit the bill. Exmas is a cute, heartwarming, full-length, standalone contemporary holiday romance, brimming with saucy banter, a dash of humor, a pinch of suspense, a cast of wonderful characters, and sweet heat. I'll admit it took me a while to get into the flow of this story, and it wasn't because there was anything technically wrong with the way it was crafted. The narrative was exceptionally well written in the first person with clearly defined his and her points of view, which is my favorite style for contemporary romance. My initial problem stemmed from the fact that the perspectives alternated between present day events and flashbacks from the past, but after the first few chapters, I realized what Renshaw was doing and quickly found the rhythm of the story. The intense attraction and sexual chemistry between the hero and heroine was quite obvious from the very beginning. It was so much fun to watch their little tug of war, but I think my primary disconnect was with the male protagonist, Reed York, at least at first. I fell in love with the female protagonist, Joa Jolivet, immediately. She was sweet, but not too sweet, which translates to mean she wasn't a doormat for any guy. Joa was also intelligent, independent, savvy, driven, hard-working, and successful. On the other hand, Reed York did not make a good first impression. It took me quite a while to warm up to him. As the story progressed and more was revealed about his life and upbringing, I began to understand the complex nature of his character. I'm sure you've heard the old saying, never judge a book by its cover. Well, that certainly holds true for handsome, cocky, and seemingly indifferent Reed York. Reed turned out to be the exact opposite of my first impression. Needless to say, by midway the book, I began to see the true Reed and became completely smitten. But Renshaw certainly kept me on my toes until the very end! lol...
Did I like this book? Yes, very much! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adults since there's a moderate sprinkling of profanity and a few tastefully written sex scenes. I would classify Exmas as a sexy mashup of second chance, enemies to lovers, and office romance tropes. So, if you're in the mood for a cute holiday story with lots of heart, humor, and heat, then Exmas is the book for you. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and another awesome read from Winter Renshaw!

A witty, wrap me up in their yumminess look between the two who started as colleagues-with benefits, a plan that worked out for quite some time until Reed changed the game on Joa.
Leaving her with the need to move on, across the U.S to start over without him and his backstabbing ways. Until he's auditing the company she is working for and making her take an internal audit of all she thought she knew about him.
Dipping her toes back into Reed's pond is a scary prospect, can she trust him this time around? Will she listen and believe the reason for his actions back then and now?
Dwah!
I hearted these two and storyline! While I don't feel this story was full of deep drama filled twists, and rip your guts out turns, I felt like it wasn't necessary. The symbolism was there, in a beautiful, refreshing way. Now, the characters, I enjoyed those characters! The banter between them and familiarity felt genuine, Joa's mom ( Bevin ) was great, can she be my mom too?! Coupled with the down to earth, yet enough fictional grace to make them perfectly imperfect!
All and all this was stimulating, take me by surprise read that I was sorry to see end.
P.S Loved the epilogue!
Another Winter Renshaw novel I suggest checking out for yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance at it’s best...
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI adored this Winter novel - both sexy and romantic, the backstory was so thorough and the reveal so subtle, it just worked.

She returns home to Chicago and never speaks to him again. Fast forward a year later and Reed is nearing the end of a plan and hopes to reconnect with Joa, the one who got away...

“Joa Marie.” Mom shakes her head, rinsing a spot of dirt off her hand. “What?” “Would it be so bad if you just … gave him a chance?” she asks. “When the two of you worked together, did he ever flirt with you or anything?” I almost choke on my spit. “There was some flirting, sure.” She nudges me with her elbow. “See.” “See what?” I ask. “You two have chemistry.”
‘Exmas’ defines what romance is all about. Winter Renshaw has cleverly written another exciting book the storyline just pulled me in and I didn't stop until I reached the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this feel-good story from one of my favourite authors. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read!
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI binged this book instantly when it was released last year & I loved it. I say that a lot about books...but 🤷🏼♀️it’s true! So I gave it a quick re-read and I’m so glad I did.
It’s about a girl who moved back to her home city of Chicago from LA because her friends with benefits situation with a fellow college went sour, after he went behind her back and stole her promotion but didn’t give any reason behind it bar he didn’t have a choice. It continues with him turning up at their Chicago office just before Christmas for ‘work’ & she has to be his right hand woman but she’s having non of it. Tension brews between them & it’s obvious the chemistry that initially ignited their flame is still there. I love a HEA and this one gives me all warm & fuzzies. Originally the book was called Exmas...& then was changed to The Executive. Definitely 100% recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Colleagues-with-benefits
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseOooh... I really enjoyed this one.
I especially loved the flashbacks. They are in between each chapter and relate to that chapter, so we only get glimpses of the past until it all comes out at the end.
This is a lovely romantic story with a little angst, wonderful characters, and good spice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance
Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved this book. They had a relationship for a year. They did not go to each other's homes, they did not takes selfies and there was no girlfriend/ boyfriend tags. They also kept it a secret. Then the day came and he took her promotion, but it was not a black and white decision, but he could not tell her the reasoning behind it. She transferred immediately to Chicago to be near her parents and the story begins. Good book.
