    Listen up fantasy lovers! This is the 2nd series I have read of Brenda Trim’s and completely taken! It takes a lot of effort to get into a new writer and a new storyline but Brenda makes it totally effortless! I have always loved an author who can connect characters from one series to another and simultaneously stay in the timeline. All of her books are easy to read bringing the characters to life and caring about their adventures and their outcomes. I have enjoyed every single book and will continue to enjoy them all! The hardest part will be the waiting as she writes them…

    WARNING! CLIFFHANGER! This is a huge one, life threatening! Also there are two- one at the end of the book and one at the end of the book-hook chapters!

    Phoebe and her friends need to go to North Carolina to investigate a murder. Of course, that means Phoebe runs into her ex- and his new girlfriend, spends some time with her son and Fiona’s children, and deals with the mundane police.
    She does get some quality time with Aidoneus and meets some new friends too.

    The biggest deal with this book, is the enormous cliffhanger at the end- and the subsequent book is not yet out (as of August 2022, the book is due October 2022). You’ll want to hold off if you hate cliffhangers!
    Phoebe is still working at warp speed, there is so much going on it’s almost exhausting for the reader. It’s not terrible though- the story is entertaining (if frustrating because of that cliffhanger), the characters are developing well, and Phoebe is really coming into her own. Some big developments are also mentioned in the book.

    An enjoyable addition to the series, and recommended for urban fantasy fans (but you need to at least read this series from the beginning, and ideally read the Midlife Witchery and Twisted Sisters series as they appear in the publication order since they’re all interlinked!).

    This is a pretty good series as far as the story, action, and characters go but the writing is somewhat stilted, and even though I like the characters, the thoughts attributed to them are not quite right and their actions are somewhat lame. The editing in this book is better than previous books, not great, but better. I debate chucking the series every time I read one of the books cause there is a fair amount of jarring moments where the writing throws me out of the story. It's irritating. But like I said, there is just enough that I enjoy about this series that I read on, hoping for improvement in the authors writing skill but appreciating her imagination and story construction. And for sure Phoebe should brush her teeth after puking before kissing her mate. Just ugh.

    These books are very entertaining. I love how the characters have grown and developed. Each story is different, different types of paranormal beings , circumstances, issues and solutions. I look forward to the next book with each ending. I don't like that each book is left with a opening to the next. Call me crazy I like a small bow at the end of stories.

    So love Phoebe and her magical crew. The final chapter and I was dreading the end knowing next book won't be available until Oct 5th.!
    My only thing that was a nuisance wasn't the author, but whomever was suppose to spell check.
    I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys magic and women who are hitting their 40s+.
    Please keep the stories coming! Thank you for helping me escape my everyday life when I begin reading.

    So someone has killed two Supernaturals in an effort to lure Phoebe to the town she spent her married life in. Her husband and his tart are a piece of work. Phoebe helps some kids.
    All this in a matter of days!
