The Fallen Witch (The Coven: Academy Magic Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 2,251 ratings

Magic doesn’t lie. Witches do.

Our Coven Leader is dead...and they think I killed him. I didn’t. I would never have hurt him. I tried everything I could to save him.

But it’s their word against mine.

And with his blood staining my hands and caked in my hair, I don’t know how I’m going to get them to believe me...

Because the truth is far more unsettling..those shadow creatures knew exactly where and when to ambush us. Someone set us up to be slaughtered...and it wasn’t me.

The scariest part is...that Ouija Board tried to warn me...

The Fallen Witch features a sharp-witted heroine, swoon-worthy hero, and one epic rollercoaster romance set inside a magical academy! Fans of The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, or Harry Potter will love Chandelle LaVaun’s brand new urban fantasy series!

I have fallen into this series pretty hard, reading all the books in the past few weeks, so was super happy to have the next piece of the puzzle. I stayed up until 0300 finishing it. Definitely a fan. The Fallen Witch did not disappoint as everyone was waiting to connect the two worlds and the two best friends who somehow both are hidden as witches until teenagers. Really fun to finally get to see that occur and how it was accomplished, as well as the neat connections between so many of the other characters that surprise. I think there is a sense of what will happen as things unfold that has been nicely developed, but Ms. LaVaun still manages to throw a few curveballs to make it fun.

All said, this is a great witch series to lose yourself to from the day to day for a fantasy/supernatural reader. The characters are more developed and personal than many such series and I enjoy how they interplay. I like seeing the story from differing characters' perspectives. It has a nice blend of storytelling, supernatural, romance, and adventure all in one. My favorite series right now. Now to pine for the next one... thanks.

It is fun to learn how Bettina & Tegan they are both witches. Also, love everyone's reaction to them being best friends. I mean Tegan & Emerson are celebrities. And her Bettina knows the whole family practically. I love that Bettina gets to go on adventures with the coven. I mean from being accused of murder to traveling with the coven is quite the opposite of the spectrum. I hate the mixed signals that Jackson is giving Bettina. And why did Tegan not stop & think that Emerson's soul mate glyph came later than Deacon's? It was partly because Emerson was fighting her feelings & partly because her magic was bound like Bettina's. Love how Tegan & her bestie are both really good at fighting. Really interested to find out more about Bettina's background. Is she part Angel? Why can she practically make magic up? She has to end up being part of the coven or somehow really special! When will her soul mate glyph for Jackson show up? It has to be him, neither one of them can stop thinking about the other. And they can't keep their hands off each other! All signs of a soul mate. Could you maybe hurry the release date of the next book up? I can't wait till July, I may die of not knowing by then!

The book like all books has it's good and it's bad.

The good is all the wonder things that happen for Jackson and even Kessler. Oh and of course the reunite of Tegan & Bettina. It's truly perfect to see them happy and together again.

The bad: Nothing really good happened to Bettina. She is supposed to be the main character and her story line is a little unclear. We still don't know why her magic was blocked or even who blocked it, and unless that small fracture releasing some of her magic caused the soulmate mark it really doesn't make alot of sense. The first book was easy to read and you fell in love with not just the characters but the world Chandelle created. This book I know leads into the third one but I just wasn't as excited when I read it because it almost seemed like she forgot this book was supposed to be about Bettina and ended up backpedaling into how awesome the coven members are again. I really hope we get some definitive answers in the next book.

    Is she Jacksons soulmate?
Is she a super powerful magical nephilim that was adopted?
    Do they find Warner?
    Does she become a Card?
    Whan happened to Dean?
Does Trey get a soul mate?

overall I really did love the book because she's a great writer, but I just had alot of questions when it ended and none of them really had to do with the cliff hanger.

chandelle lavaun hits another home run. Best friends Tegan Bishop and Bettina Blair are introduced on the way to the gathering in the first book and prequal the chosen witch/the lost witch. There we met a scared teenager not sure of what was going to happen to learning about witches/spirits and all the things that can go bump in the night. In book one of the academy magic she learns that she is a witch and is taken to Edenburg to learn how to use her gifts and she meets Jackson Lancaster who she falls deeply in lust for. she is trained to be a warrior and at the end of book 1 of academy she is found leaning over the coven leader who has just been killed. Book 2 picks up immediately after and she is charged with his murder. The other coven leader constance wants to believe she didn't do it but there was no other explanation as to how he could have died so she is thrown in the dungeon to await the other coven members to decide her fate. she then learns that her best friend Tegan is not only in the coven but a high ranking member of the coven, Devon is her mother, cooper is her brother, Bentley is full brother not half as she thought and that emeryson was her twin. she also learns that Tennessee is Tegan's soulmate and the new coven leader to take Timothy's place. Tegan immediately knows she is not guilty and she is acquitted of the murder. Like with Tegan and Emeryson they go to crone island to have myrtle help unlock Bettina's magic but find out that it had been blocked and in order to unlock it they have to go once again into the old lands- one to figure out the runes and the second to retrieve warren. throughout the book I loved the way that Tegan stuck by her best friend and fought for her. I liked that Tegan picked up immediately the attraction that Bettina has for Jackson only to be squashed that Jackson has a soulmate and its not Bettina. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and cant wait to join the journey.

WOW!!! I was pulled in from the beginning! Fabulous paranormal/fantasy world, I absolutely love this series of books, the action starts slowly and builds, The characters are well defined early on and blossom throughout the series, you can feel the tension building between the main characters early in the series which develop wonderfully as each book progresses. Very well written storey. There are no cliff hangers as such but each book always leaves you wanting more so be warned though once you start reading this series you won’t be able to put the books down so be prepared for some binge reading

This is the second book in The Coven: Academy Magic series by Chandelle LaVaun and I loved it! Chandelle takes the reader on a thrilling roller coaster ride full of witches, magic, and demons loaded with plenty of action, twists and turns, suspense and heartbreak that captivates you attention to the very last page. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Academy Magic!

    Loved it!

What's not to love, Bettina is accused of killing Timothy, the coven leader (you really need to read book one). The Coven have been called to decide her fate (yay Tegan and the crew are coming)
    🤩).

We visit the Old Lands and Crone Island in this story and there are so many twists and turns I think I have whiplash 😲. The story flows brilliantly and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Brilliantly written, excellent characters and awesome scene building going on here. We even get a Kracken!

A must read. Can't wait for The Wild Witch, book 3.
