Susan Carey has dual nationality, GB/NL and lives in Amsterdam and Nijmegen. Susan has had short fiction published on multiple platforms including: Mslexia, Liars League, Reflex Fiction, Casket of Fictional Delights and Writers Abroad. She began her artistic career by studying textiles at Goldsmiths, University of London. Since then she has worked as a shop assistant, puppeteer, secretary, belly dance teacher, and has taught English as a second language. Her first loves, drawing and textiles, have remained a passion alongside creative writing. Every November she is crazy enough to take part in National Novel Writing Month, and has done so successfully since 2009.

Leading a semi-nomadic lifestyle, Susan and her husband travel around Europe house-sitting and caring for pets while their owners are on holiday. Animals they have cared for include; horses, llamas, fish, dogs, cats, sheep, chickens, geese, ducks and a wild seagull called Sidney. It is one of Susan’s dreams to ride a Friesian horse and gallop along the beach on the island of Texel.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 5, 2021
This is the final anthology from Writers Abroad. The authors and poets who have contributed to this volume are expats scattered around the globe giving them a unique outlook on life. Much of that perspective has been captured in this volume of short stories and poetry. Revenue from sales is donated to The World Literacy foundation
