Future Gay Boyfriend (Mallory Vineyard) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 541 ratings

Ryan
Happy New Year to me. My best friend just got engaged to my twin brother, leaving me feeling more alone than ever. I’m stuck at the vineyard for the New Year’s party, surrounded by happy couples and tragically without a date. My lack of midnight kissing partners changes when a gorgeous man with glossy pink lips gives me the most toe-curling, lust-inducing kiss of my entire life. I’ve never met a man so stunning as Darian.

Darian
It's painfully apparent I've fallen for a straight guy, but after the way Ryan Kingston kissed me on New Year's Eve, I couldn't let him walk away. He's never been with a man before, much less a man like me who likes pretty silk shirts and fruit-flavored lip gloss, but he's taking it all in stride and so am I. Between ice cream dates, shopping trips, and exploration between the sheets, he’s pretty good at convincing me that maybe we could be the real thing.

But my dreams are bigger than the vineyard, bigger than him. And when the opportunity of a lifetime lands in my lap, I can't turn it down. It doesn't matter that the job of my dreams will put an entire country between us. I know, sooner or later, Ryan is going to remember he's straight and call things off between us.

Except… he doesn't. In fact, Ryan is telling me something I never expected to hear. He isn't straight anymore, and now he wants to be my boyfriend...for keeps.

I was so happy to go back to Mallory Vineyard and watch Ryan fall in love. E.M. Denning and Kate Hawthrone wrote New Year's shorts that featured Ryan and Darian and they were so good and I needed a full book of them. I am so glad we got to see where these two went after they met at the New Year's Eve party.

Much like Future Fake Husband, this book is low angst, sweet, and very sexy. There are scarves, butt plugs, lip gloss, an awkward dildo shopping trip, conversations with a penis, and two virgins stumbling their way to their happy ending.

Ryan has never been with a guy, but when he meets Darian he's enthralled by him. I can't tell you how happy I am that Ryan doesn't spend too much time figuring out his sexuality. I hate the term GFY and I hate when a character goes back and forth on what they feel. Ryan just lets himself get swept into the emotions that Darian brings out of him.

Darian, sweet lovable Darian. He's finally taking the plunge and living the life he wants to live. He's dressing how he wants, wearing makeup, and just feeling good about himself. When he meets Ryan he finally finds someone who sees him in all his beautiful glory.

This book is just lovely. It's about two people who are trying to figure themselves out and find each other through it all. These two characters weren't expecting their spontaneous New Year's Eve kiss to jumpstart a relationship, but they manage to stumble their way through it. Ryan and Darian just work, even when they don't know what they're doing--maybe because they don't know what they're doing.

I did get a little pissed at Ryan because he's a bit of an idiot, but I'm kind of pleased with the way it went. They loved each other but they weren't sure where they were going in life. Both Ryan and Darian had decisions to make, and even though some of Ryan's made me tear up, in the end, it opened their eyes to what they really wanted, which was each other.

I don't often read books that are on the sweeter side, but these two authors could convince me to read anything. I love the little break from the hot and dirty books. I love all the feelings these characters have and how they allow one another to just be. E.M. Denning and Kate Hawthrone are magic together, I can't wait to see what their next collaboration is going to be.

At a New Years party, Ryan puts his drunk date in a cab. Disgusted by her bad behavior. Darian’s date dumped him because he is just to gay. When they meet, the gay guy and the straight guy, feel a pull towards each other. A kiss, ice cream, and another kiss leads to so much more than either man thought possible.

Some insta-love, gay for you, and hot chemistry made this a nice story. I liked both characters a lot. Ryan was kind of clueless and Darian was a little over the top but they were meant for each other. Characters from the first book played a large part in this one. We even got to see a softer side of Kristen. Some angst and lots of ice cream made this a very nice book.

I wanted to love this book. I really did. The first book in this series was so sweet. The fake boyfriend trope was cute - but mostly because the MC seemed to have great communication, and didn’t hold back from each other. This was not that book. This book felt grittier, and not in a good way.

It had all the characteristics of a great book. A virgin cancer survivor, gay for you, and no shame in the relationship. But I really hated the fact that the PTSD that Ryan must have had from his ex was not brought up between the MCs, and the it seems like there way so much drama and angst that didn’t need to happen. Plus Ryan was always having to apologize which pissed me off.

Coming off the sweetness of the first book this one just left me irritated. Hopefully the next book will be better, since I love these authors’ writing!

Everyone wants a kiss on New Year's, includin Ryan and Darian. They just didn't know they needed it to be with each other and where that spark would lead them. There is so much to love about this book. Each character individually is lovable and embarks on their own journey to deal with their insecurities. Together the path is easier. Darian is just absolutely lovable from his lip gloss and femme touches to the fear of embracing the life he didn't think he'd have. Ryan is just as engaging as he stumbles through the new discovery that he is attracted to a man. I love that the authors made him so accepting of that and that the angst in the book is more from each of their inner issues than anything to do with each other. They are so sweet together and the sex is steamy but very realistic. I also love that the authors dd not make that part of the relationship perfect. They have to feel their way through it (and some of those moments are hilariously endearing). This is simply a must read. It will give you that warm fuzzy that only a Hawthorne/Denning book can. It's clever, sexy, sweet, funny and so much more. They are a perfect partnership in writing style. Perfectly edited and as usual their dialogue is smart and sassy. You need this book...seriously!

What started out as a New Years eve kiss turns into so much more. If you like GFY, hot, sticky sweet romances, and sweet but snarky characters, this book is a must have. Interconnected characters from book 1 make an appearance, but can be read as a standalone. Ryan's New Years is a bust, he sent his date home and now is alone for the night, maybe he can find a new one or just drink the night away. Darian is making a New Years resolution to be his true self, live life to the fullest, to be a happier person. After one sweet kiss, a late night ice cream date, Ryan finds himself surprisingly attracted to Darian, not as straight as he thought he was. Darian finds Ryan to be a great future boyfriend. As the relationship continues to grow Ryan shows no signs of being confused about his attraction to Darian. Darian fears that Ryan will change his mind about them and Ryan fears Darian leaving for bigger and better things. Sweet, funny read that kept you reading clear to the end. Would I recommend this book? Yes. Would I read it again? Yes.

3.0 out of 5 stars A book with extensive past history

I really dislike it when books try to rope in characters from previous books whose story is done. This book does it in spades.

Do ya want to hear about previous characters? Do you feel like trying to keep them straight in your head? Do you feel like seeing them pop up like unwanted fleas to give you ANOTHER mini vignet of the previous romance?

    Then this books for you.

It was good otherwise. But full of annoying "commercial breaks".

I wasn't expecting much from this book at first. Eventhough I read this before reading the first book (which was a mistake because I didn't know they were sequences) but I enjoyed it very much. I liked it better than Brokeback Mountain.

An unexpectedly sweet romance that challenges gender norms. And the idea of what you should want. The idea that fem men can be sexy as hell.

I really like that sex wasnt magically great the first time. This feels like a universal truth. Virgin sex sucks. There is something very genuine and honest about how the author dealt with it. Add to that the lack of a straight to gay freak out and I am just generally super happy with how this book navigated things.
