This is NOT a stand-alone read. There are two series within the universe, The Five Points’ Mob and the Dark and Dirty Sinners MC, and they should be read in the author’s published and recommended order. There are multiple reoccurring characters, overlapping timelines, and overarching themes.

Contains references to, and/or detailed scenes: with adult language, derogatory language to women (and some men), steamy adult intimate scenes, and violence … lots and lots of violence, such as: kidnapping, abduction, murder, torture, assault, torture, betrayal, subterfuge, dominance, submission, restraints, sensory deprivation, rape, knife play, “bottom” play, attempted murder, attempted rape, domestic violence, etc.
** There are several scenes depicting mental, physical and sexual child abuse, as well as mental health issues of post party’s depression, anxiety, depression, bipolar, maybe schizophrenia, and suicide. **
There are a few grammatical issues, but nothing difficult to interpret, or that necessitated a lower rating. These primarily consisted of typos, incorrect tense / word choice, missing and extra inserted words. The main issue is there continues to be words and/or phrases that are not common in the US. I read stories from all over the world and these have not been anything I have seen before, so I have to look them up. I am trying to make sure I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, as errors interrupt the flow.
The read finally receives more details on several things that transpired in the earlier stories, such as what went down exactly with Conor as a child, what kinds of things Aiden Sr. has done to earn his reputation in the City, etc. While there are some details, there are not so many that is ruins the story, just enhances it enough that the reader can leave it or add to it at their discretion and comfort level. This is what makes Serena Akeroyd an EXCELLENT and gifted writer and not just a great one.
The greatest compliment I can gift these IMHO is that as a reader I both look forward to and dread each new story in the series. I want the next story bad enough to be an addict, but it also brings me that much closer to the end of everything … :)
Here is a little background:
Aiden Jr. has been in every story in this series, and in several from the Sinners’. Savannah was introduced into both a few stories back. She is an investigative reporter on TV and previously met Aiden Jr. five years ago when she was looking into the history of The Five Points’ Mob. This wasn’t because she wanted to write an article to expose him or his Da, but she has been fascinated with the mafia since she witnessed a man being killed when she was younger.
There was an immediate chemistry and sense of fate when they met, discussed her investigation, and then had one unforgettable dinner before he ghosted her. Now she is back within his sphere of control because of an attempt on her life after she started to publish and expose the New World Sparrows, aka NWS and/or Sparrows.
Aiden Jr. has spent the last 6 weeks detoxing from his Oxy addiction in Conor’s Penthouse and on his couch ... in a fort blanket … After attending that last AA meeting that was open to all types of addiction, Aiden had known that he was going to have to do this on his own, cold turkey. He wouldn’t be able to go to rehab or even back to the meetings. He had seen some of the men and knew he was being followed, maybe they were trying to find out a weakness or some other type of information that could be used against his family. Regardless Aiden wasn’t going to give it, so he had shown up on his baby brother’s doorstep to go cold turkey.
Savannah had moved into the apartment right under the Penthouse where one of the O’Donnelly males lived. She hoped it was Aiden Jr., but regardless it made her feel safer as surely there is no one stupid enough to attack anyone in one of their buildings knowing how certifiable Aiden Sr. Is based upon past behavior.
Then someone is and the only thing Savannah has within reach is a mop and a coffee table book! WTF?!

Uuuhhhhhh...this story is so good!!!!! I am beyond in love with this book! Serena takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with this one so you better buckle up and hang on. He is a mobster that grew up with danger always at his door. She grew up in the spotlight thanks to who her father was and then her career in journalism. She had her own version of danger at her door from a young age. They both are the type to take no bullshit from anyone. Their chemistry is off the charts. You can almost palpate it through the pages. "We were born to fight this war together. I felt it in my very bones." "Even through the grimmest of gray skies, with thunder in the distance, and rain falling, a sliver of sunlight could peek through. That was my Savannah." "When I was done, when I was broken and then fixed, she smiled at me, and that was a beacon. Of light, hope, need, and love.
