Finding You: A small-town brother's best friend romance (Chikalu Falls Book 1) Kindle Edition
I never thought I’d find her.
After eight years in the Marines, I’m still looking for the mysterious woman I’ve obsessed over since her first letter. When she shows up in my small town, I’m thrilled.
But when she turns out to be my brother’s best friend--and the girl he’s always loved--I’m caught between the two people who matter to me the most.
I’m a Marine, which means honor and duty run deep. Joanna is off-limits. That would be a whole lot easier if she hadn’t already agreed to help run my brother’s fishing guide business for the summer, forcing me to work side-by-side with the woman I’ve fantasized about for years.
I try to keep her at a distance, push her away, man up. But she draws me in without even trying, and I can’t get enough of how she makes me feel. I’m stealing moments with her, and I know it’s wrong. She may not be my brother’s girlfriend, but I know a landmine when I see one.
FINDING YOU is a scorching hot, interconnected stand alone small town romance. It is NOT a love triangle. Finding You is the first book in the Chikalu Falls series set in the fictional Montana town, Chikalu Falls.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2025So beautifully done! Every aspect hit the right emotional notes -- producing all the feels. What a wonderful portrayal of the struggle of military vets fighting abroad and then coming home with trauma to live with and try to resolve. It was wrenching and yet redeeming and ultimately hopeful. Thank you so much, Lena!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2025So well written, just beautiful! Lincoln a broken marine who went home to help his little brother with his fishing business and to fine the girl who wrote the letters that got him thru the terrible time while he was in the service, who kept alive by sending him letters, his Joanne! He tries to readjust to being back home but he fines hard,he has a short fuse and rather be by his self.He is still searching for his Joanne but no sitting yet but Finn mentions a Jo and he wonders if that is his Joanne and if she is that may mean she could be his brother girlfriend. So now he decides to keep his distance but it's hard. His brother gets hurt and Joanne fills in and now they are getting closer. But he still feels unsettled, he still thinks his Joanne is his brother's girlfriend, but his brother has something to tell him but every time he wants to talk to Finn something or someone gets in the way.Joanne is tried of Lincoln 's hot and cold ways,so when they have a blow up again, she decides to go back and stay at her sisters.Nether one can get over the other one, theonly good thing to come out of it is that Finn and Lincoln do have that conversation that was put on hold.Everyone conspires to bring Lincoln and Joanne back together, Lincoln see's his chance and gives her a letter that he wrote from his heart and it's a tearjerker for Joanne and she is going to give him another chance! SO GOOD,
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2023It was a fun little read. Just what I was hoping and looking for when I selected the book.
The characters were interesting and well written and drew me into their lives. The back and forth with Lincoln needing to talk to Finn was a bit much. He felt like he was taking his brother's girl, yet he had opportunities to talk to him and chose not to do so.
Then when his brother was ready to speak up about Jo not being his type, she came running back after an injury and he went on a rampage against the guys who did it. The small town convenience of protecting their own was good and bad. I felt it fitting for the story though and his protector mode was full on! But then ending things with her? Ugh. Dummy. We all knew that would happen though. Overall, their story was fun to read and see how they all interact and work together was fun. Finn's original hostility against Linc was a bit much though too. Chucked up to a misunderstanding. But really? To not support his brother without talking to him seemed harsh.
But. What took the half star was some of the timeline talk... I couldn't figure it out because there seemed to be too many inconsistencies with Linc and Jo.
1. His (Linc) mom says 8 years, almost a decade and now he's home.
2. He (L) says Chilaku hasn't been home for over a decade and his bro (Finn) was 15 when he left for the military.
3. He (L) said he served 8 years and has been home for two and the accident happened 3 years prior towards the end of his second tour.
4. Jo said she's avoided him (L) for 3 years.
5. Jo met Finn at college, but has been friends with him for a decade. But if a decade has passed, it would put Finn at 15 when they met. But college would be 17-18.
6. So he's (L) been home for somewhere between 2-3 years based on the above and moved into a cottage on Mr. Old Man Grump's (OMG) (I can't remember his name - Mr. Bailey, maybe?) property because he needed space from people to deal with PTSD basically. But then at the end of the book, he says he bought the property 5 years prior when OMG wanted to sell because OMG was getting too old to take care of all the property himself. So L bought it as a thank you to OMG for letting him stay there when he got back and give him that solace, yet have him help with the upkeep. But if he's only been back for 2 years per him, but 3 per the flashback at the beginning and per her, how did he buy property at least 2 years prior to his return?!
So yeah, timelines were just confusing and inconsistent and made me wonder, throughout the story, if I misread dates and times and the story on general. But when I went back and did more research in the book after finishing it (because I was still confused on timelines), I found they were just inconsistent.
The bonus epilogue was cute with it being Finn's wedding. Typically epilogues are their own wedding so it was a cute change and seeing as Finn probably won't get his own book, it was a nice way to wrap up a HEA for him too.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2025Meeting these two was an unexpected delight. Lincoln went through so much and I'm always in so much awe that humans have the capacity to deal with such huge traumatic events and then come back to "regular life" and are still fantastic humans. While I recognize this is a fictional representation of such, it still bears much similarity to the lives of so many.
Joanna ... I related to a lot about her. While I'm no tomboy, I have always felt that separation between myself and the girls who seemed to get all the "girly" attention and feeling like, maybe, I'm just too independent to be loved the way I wanted to be.
"Being able to take care of yourself and wanting someone to take care of you were two very different things."
Thank goodness for Honey! She is such a wonderful sister and I wish I had someone like her in my corner growing up. Even though Honey seemed to be all the things Joanna wasn't, she NEVER made her feel like there was something wrong with her.
"Just because we're different doesn't mean you're less."
Overall this story was heartwarming and adorable. Not to mention the side characters and family members stand out almost as much as the mains and I'm so excited to see if they have their own stories, too! I read the sneak peek for Honey's story and I cannot wait! (plus, I absolutely love her)

- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2025This book is really great, lots of highs and lows. This author uses a lot of repeat phrases, it’s a pattern in all her other books as well. In this book it was said 5 times, “corner of my eyes”, that isn’t even a phrase or feeling anyone would say. It takes you out of the story to read it so many times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small town military romance
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wow!! What a perfect debut novel 👏🏼
This story had everything. Lincoln has returned home after serving with the Marines, he has scars inside and out but letters he received from a mysterious woman kept him sane and helped him see the beauty and good in the world during his darkest days.
His return home sees him rejoin his brother Finn in helping to run their fishing guide business and to begin his search for the mysterious woman (OMG! I really really hope the author writes a story for Finn! I adored this fun loving character)
Joanna is Finn’s best friend, they’ve known each other since school, the friendly banter clearly shows their strong friendship. Joanna comes across as someone I could drink with, her boyfriend basically dumps her for not being a girlie girl but her passion is in achieving her dream of opening a fishing guide business, this drives her & she’s good at what she does.
When Lincoln and Joanna come together, it’s intense, loving, sensual, so many questions are answered, secrets are revealed, but as Lincoln struggles with his PTSD, will their love be strong enough to survive? Can Lincoln make the steps needed to be the good man that Joanna see’s in him.
Oh My god Lincoln was everything, sweet, alpha and intense! And his feeling of being unworthy broke my heart.
This was an engaging story, with really addictive likeable characters, I’m excited for book 2 which will be Joanna’s sister Honey, and the local bar owner Colin, we saw glimpses of this story and Oh My! This could be explosive in a Honey sort of way.
This is a military romance/small town/brothers best friend romance and I highly recommend this book, for it to be the authors debut novel I must applaud how good it is 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

5.0 out of 5 stars I fell in love with Chikalu Falls
The plot, the characters, the story, the uwu and softest moments, the love and the work you've done Lena Hendrix... I am the one thanking you today for this beautiful book. I truly fell in love with your book, and I'm so glad I bought the entire series. Everything in that book is pure gold, and you deserve everything word I wrote. Thank you so much for creating a world I would be glad to live in. This small-town series got me, and I am confident that the others books are going to be as insane and hot as this first one.
Thumbs up and all my love from France,
Flora.

4.0 out of 5 stars Steamy with a good balance between a broken man with a hard pass and a light sweet romance.
The first chapter of this book got me straight through my soul. Then, I was on for the ride. This book had some pure and touching moments related to the broken, scarred male main character. The "Who did this to you trope" got me once again. I loved the different friendships with the female main character. I found so cute how the male character couldn't stay away from the woman he's hooked on. This book was very steamy and it doesn't drag too long before the heat comes in, so it's perfect for those not fan of slow-burn, and not fan of insta-love.
I really liked my read, and that was a great first novel from this author. I have to say I would have liked to get more into the relationship and how it unfolded, and more from their dynamic. I wasn't a fan of the unsaid stuff that created a gap between the main characters and prevented their love story to unfold. I also thought the man got away too easily with his roller coaster mood toward the main character.
Overall, I recommend this book, it was a fun light read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Actually ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 story
This was a great story and series opener. There was lots of angst is the build-up to them getting together and then again post-hook up. Lincoln and Joanna’s path was rocky just like their outdoor adventure business, but a very enjoyable read.
