Friday Night Lies (Truth and Lies Book 1) Kindle Edition
Ever since my family moved in across the street when we were both kids, Holden Adams has been that guy. My first crush. My former confidante. My best friend’s brother. He’s the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
I love him.
I hate him.
One of those is a lie.
I’m just…not sure which.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2023I started this book not really sure what I was getting into, other than it was a sports romance book. The start of it, almost had me changing my mind but I delved into it anyway and really glad I did! It was more angst than what I usually read, but it worked. I loved the chemistry between the two MCs. It had a nice amount of spice and I am happy this was written as a dual POV because I don’t know if I could have made it with just the FMCs. I needed to know how crazy obsessed the MC was for her, for me to root for them! It was a great read!! Would recommend for anyone looking for some angst, and some second chance! ❤️

- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2024Holden and Cassia’s story is full of the angst that accompanies first love, especially when that love has been unrequited for years. I enjoyed the timing of the story and the characters were written well as far as matching their maturity level with their ages and experiences. Looking forward to what comes next for these two.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2023My heart was put through the wringer with Cassia and Holder's story. There was so much angst, feels and love with this one. Their journey was tough, but so worth the read. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023Underneath his scarred appearance, Holden is a young man who seeks security and love. He is rebellious, wild, and impetuous. It's just him and his sister because his mom left when he was a child and his dad is constantly traveling for work. Including Cassia, her closest friend. the girl who, up until he pushed her away, was his closest friend. Basketball is one of the outlets Holden needs to control his rage. The one location where he believes everything vanishes. except for her. Can he show himself and others around him that he is not this disobedient, thoughtless child? Or was he foolish to welcome Cassia back into his life only to tear them apart once more?
Cassia is the perfect daughter and student. She works hard to earn high grades, lends a hand when required, and applies herself to get into a good institution. She assists with housework because she is the oldest of six children. Friday nights at the home of her best friend are her sole means of escape. But he's also there, somewhere. The boy who rejected her, breaking her heart. Has Holden's return to her life actually altered anything? Is she setting herself up for more heartache by trying to learn some of his secrets and the good he hides?
This book was enjoyable to me. I felt a lot more sympathy for these individuals than I anticipated. But I had to keep in mind that they were still in high school. Holden was so deeply wounded that only love could fill the huge gaps he left behind by pushing people away. Even though Cassia was shy, she was open with Holden. I adored Sydney's sister/best friend role and hope to see more of her. Definitely suggest.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 13, 2024Not my favorite book by this author, but it wasn't horrible.
I wish that the fmc had truly moved on. I wish that after the mmc dropped her in 8th grade, that she had moved on and made him work to earn her friendship and love back. Her waiting around for 4 years just seemed sad.
The mmc is an idiot. I love a flawed character, but he made stupid choice after stupid choice. I wish he would have grown, or even seen the error of his ways and changed for her.
The story was interesting but not very satisfying.
*This book is rated R. The F word is used more than once. There is bloody violence. The spice scenes are detailed.

5.0 out of 5 stars worth reading on my Friday night
I love all of CW Farnsworth books but this one is at the top for me with “come break my heart again”, “fly bye” and “like I never said”. So excited we will get another story about Cassia and Holden in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Friends Brother. Sports Romance. High School Romance.
Best Friends Brother. Best Friends grown apart and then become lovers. Sports Romance. High School Romance.
I know I say it every time but I truly do love this author. She has a way of writing a romance that just sucks you all the way in and doesn't let you go! This is no exception.
I really enjoyed the sister Sydney, you think she is oblivious but she's being a good sister and friend. I feel she has a story I would love to read! I kinda could see Harrison and Sydney making a good relationship.
The romance between Holden and Cassia (also love the name Cassia) is beautifully written, it's an easy story to lose yourself in. You can binge it in one sitting.
There is a tragedy in this and I think Farnsworth writes it perfectly and seeing how the characters handle it together is another thing that makes this a great read!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good start, dull ending
Catchy beginning, but a bit disappointing towards the end, too eager to finish as quickly as possible. Both leasing characters rezerve deeper indight.

3.0 out of 5 stars More a high school read but nicely done
Holden and Cassie live next to each other and Cassie has always had a crush on the up and coming basketball player. She thought when they were first friends that more would develop until Holden ghosted her so that even his friends no longer spoke and she hated the feeling it left her with. Years forward and he is flunking class which could affect his scholarship and she has been tasked with tutoring. She hates that she has to do it and Holden tells her he can do the work. She has no idea that he just doesnt think she is good enough for him and staying away seemed the right thing to do. It is nicely written but I think its target is the teenagers.
