Follow The Sun (Sapphire Cay Book 1) Kindle Edition
Lucas is hurt and close to losing everything; Dylan could be the man to save him.
Lucas arrives on the idyllic island of Sapphire Cay with its white-sand beaches and warm balmy nights for his sister’s wedding. Grieving for a friend, stressed, and with an ulcer, he wants to see his sister happy before he returns home to an uncertain future. He doesn’t have the spirit or desire to form a relationship, but laid back, Dylan tempts him with the promise of a new future if only he were brave enough to take the chance.
Dylan never settles in one place for long. A free-spirited traveler, he follows the sun where it takes him and lives for today. Until he meets Lucas and realizes that sometimes the sun is brightest in people’s hearts, and now could be the time to stop moving on.

About the authors
RJ is the author of the over one hundred novels and discovered romance in books at a very young age. She realized that if there wasn’t romance on the page, she could create it in her head, and is a lifelong writer.
She lives and works out of her home in the beautiful English countryside, spends her spare time reading, watching films, and enjoying time with her family.
The last time she had a week’s break from writing she didn't like it one little bit and has yet to meet a bottle of wine she couldn’t defeat.
She loves to talk to readers and can be contacted via rj@rjscott.co.uk
Meredith Russell is an author, cover artist and vampire slayer. Okay, she may have made that last one up, but that’s what she loves about writing—the possibilities. No matter where her stories are set—from fantastical worlds of zombies and werewolves to the ambling life of an English village—she strives to write about romance and the tales of men searching for their happy ever after. Meredith writes the stories she loves to read—hopeful, emotional, a journey, and sometimes unexpected.
In 2012 Meredith had her first novels published, as well as being commissioned to do her first cover design. She now splits her time between populating fictional worlds with characters she adores, and helping other authors bring theirs to life through cover art. She has had a number of popular releases, including Dead Things, Just Jack, and the Sapphire Cay series written with RJ Scott.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2021The characters are both likeable guys and really compliment each other. The author has managed to make it seemed like the two main characters just manage to need the other to be complete. I would easily recommend this book for anyone who enjoys happily ever after romance stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2018Nothing beats attending a wedding on an isolated island with just your friends and family. Unless you are beset with personal strife and guilt. Lucas has plenty of both. He wants what is best for his sister and maybe even for himself, too. But how does he let go when he's been the sole financial support for the two of them since their parents died years prior. And what about that job? Does he want to continue the stressful position he has with a company whose CEO only cares about numbers?
Even after Tasha, his sister, tried to get him to relax and enjoy the sun, Lucas continued to stress about work and his next business conference. If he pulled it off, he might, just might be able to relax a bit. Yeah, relax, but what does that word mean? All that stress and guilt reached a crescendo when he met Dylan Gray.
Dylan, the exact opposite to Lucas, was tanned, relaxed, and lived with a genuine smile on his face. He simply enjoyed life. But even Dylan had his own burdens, burdens that he felt no one would understand. Then he crossed paths with Lucas and their paths continued to cross since he was the go to person on the island of Sapphire Cay.
Scott and Russell did a great job painting the picture of the island, the wedding party, and the two men whose lives crossed in a most unusual way. How their lives seem so dissimilar yet matched almost exactly. The story unfolded slowly yet had enough mystery and excitement that I wanted to continue the journey with these two men. At several points I wanted to shout at either Lucas or Dylan and tell them to stop and enjoy, but the story pulled me past those points and I found myself just enjoying the journey these two were traveling.
If you enjoy reading a story filled with angst, doubt, love, and wonder, than Follow The Sun by RJ Scott and Meredith Russell is a good book to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2013Lucas and Dylan! Really great couple and story line at an awesome tropical island! I read this book in spring and all I could see in my head was how cool it will be if I was at Sapphire Cay. I really love the whole story line. There's Lucas who cares a lot about his sister but has a job that leads to him literally digging his own grave and then there's Dylan (whose life style I kinda like, lol) who can't stop thinking about Lucas and his sad eyes. It's a must read :)
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2023I loved the setting, this kind of trope always draws me in. The guy who needed to relax, change his life, Lucas knows he needs to leave the rat race. And Dylan, the free spirit who knows he has to live every day well. Both know how fickle life can be. They fall together in a short time but made the most of it. Some of the big things were never discussed on page but seemed like things we maybe should have been privy to the conversation between the MC’s. Looking forward to more in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2013Follow The Sun was a sweet and gentle story. The blurb says the series is full of romance and drama but in all honesty there wasn't too much drama. The focus is on the emotional side of the story.
Lucas heads to Sapphire Cay to host his sister's wedding at the resort. They are orphans and he has raised her since she was a teenager. Lucas has always had responsibilities, whether it be his sister or the high powered and very stressful career he has. However he is overworked, unhealthy and obviously has lost his passion for the job. The death of his boss and mentor has him questioning the direction his life is taking.
Dylan 'follows the sun'. He travels the world, finding work where he can but has returned to work at Sapphire Cay for the last 5 years. He has had his own fair share of tragedy and disappointment in his life.
Lucas and Dylan are drawn to each other but their relationship develops fairly gently, both afraid of moving too fast. A lot of the focus is on Dylan trying to draw out Lucas, to put a smile on his face. Lucas' sadness and worries play a significant role.
Dylan has some decisions he also needs to make, decisions that would impact his roving ways. I do think there was a lost opportunity or potential plot twist related to the brief visit of Dylan's ex-lover. Knowing about the relationship Dylan had with him helps to understand Dylan better but why did his personal visit not result in any big drama or misunderstanding? I was waiting for something climatic to happen but it didn't eventuate.
Add a sweet sister, wedding shenanigans and a happy ending and it all sums up to an enjoyable story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2022A well written book, with an emotional storyline.
I loved this story so much! The characters were beautifully developed. Recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2014This story took me on a well deserved vacation. I feel so much like Lucas and even though I have a Dylan. Sometimes I wish we could shuck all the trappings of life and do things we enjoy. I'm happy that the rain washed away the sadness and let the sun in to shine and heal and make the world better the sun makes things grow and love is definitely one of those things. Joe

4.0 out of 5 stars Good
Two delightful men who fall in love on an island paradise. Lucas is on a much needed holiday to Sapphire Cay to attend his sister's wedding. Dylan is working at the island and the two meet and the rest they say is history. A lovely romance and a touching story, a few typo's but overall a really enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 3 S’s and a new life
Not a particularly happy backstory for either of them, but when they both make a huge decision for their own benefit, they are really securing a HEA with each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great read!
R J Scott is a genius, I love her writing and this book didn't disappoint, she has a certain style where she is able to pull you into the story. I have all of R J's books and I love them, have read most of them 4 or more times. Well worth trying out.

3.0 out of 5 stars good but lacking
I liked the idea of the story but for some reason the writers kept cutting off the best bits. We seemed to skip parts that would be fun and even pivotal to then go to a new scene. I won’t explain how this happened at the end, but let’s say the journey to the epilogue was a bit quick!
