EM Lindsey knocks another great story out of the park. Cole and Ryan are fantastic together. This book has more outside conflicts and secrets, that combine to make a fantastic read. Romance, steam, great characters - all are here.

Lindsey writing “American” is funny, but don’t let that put you off. This is a great book with at least one surprising twist and some good red herrings. I liked Cole and Ryan from Noah’s book and it was nice to get to know them a bit more. If there’s anything to complain about, it’s the copy editing, which is pretty bad and the reason I can’t give this 5 stars. There are a lot of missing words and other errors that can make reading the text hard. I realize that indie authors don’t have a lot of income to spend on professionals but there are other means of getting manuscripts proofread. A college colleague could do it, it could be crowd sourced like Jerry Cole does it, heck, even a final reader with good attention to detail could have improved it. I hope Linsdsey finds a way to improve because all of her books I’ve read suffer from bad copy editing.

Whoa! This was even better than the first! I really liked both MCs but the suspense angle was so good. I thought I had it figured out but it was so much more! This is well-paced, intense steamy romance between former British marine and an American lawyer.

We met Ryan in the first book. Here many things about him become clear. His insecurities, his low self esteem prevent him from forming any romantic bonds. One time that he tried, he ruined it but thankfully he managed to salvage the relationship and turn it into solid friendship. But there is something different about Cole. He can't stay away. Soon Ryan feels more than he should but he still can't let go of this niggle in his head that he is not good enough. But the circumstances force him to reevaluate how he sees himself and finally able to reach out to Cole. I loved how understanding Ryan was, how he just let Cole be and was always there for him without making him feel less of a man.

Cole has been dealt a harsh hand in life. After being blinded during service he is offered an opportunity to prove himself useful. I loved Cole's strength, his resilience and determination to live his life to the fullest. It might be slow going but he is trying. His relationship with Ryan is one of the brightest spots in his life. But when the danger from his past comes calling, he truly understands the meaning of friends and family, he understands that they don't care that he can't see - it's what's inside that matters.

The relationship's pace was well-measured. There were ups and downs, there were doubts and harsh words, there were tender and passionate moments - both men went through troubled times trying to stand their ground against that which tried to tear them apart. The climax of the story was so well-written. It was intense, emotional and with just the right amount of fear to make me grip the edge of my seat. I loved that in the end Isabel, Cole's ex, was not the raging b**ch that she was portrayed - she was cruelly deceived and used just as their daughter Claire was. In the end Cole finally found his place with Ryan and his new family at Baum's, he had his daughter back in his life and the promise of happy and stable future. It was the best kind of ending, and I loved it! I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed the storyline a lot and the characters felt real. I was a little disappointed with how dense Ryan and Coke were considering their respective profession. Also not a fan poly relationships, otherwise, it was a good read!

I've been enjoying this series, which is a bit different from a typical romance novel. Of course, there is angst, drama, and love. But I've enjoyed the messes these characters have managed to land in. I have enjoyed the mystery, and the spy espionage was fun. I love the sense of family in this author's books. It's nice to imagine having that. Looking forward to finding out what happens to Trevor and Rhys in book #3.

Ok I enjoyed the story, but I got a bit confused about a certain coworker and how evil he seemed and how things were different at the end? Why be so unlikable? Anyway other than that confusion this was a good story.

Cole was going to take on the challenger. He just needed to figure out who that was. He knew Ryan would always be on his side though!

This is only the second book I’ve read from this author, the first being book one. This was a surprising plot, more complex than I expected and a lot more dangerous. Cole’s blindness seemed to be presented quite realistically and I quite enjoyed how Ryan was shown interacting with him. The manner in which Ryan and Cole’s characters are built up in book one and Adrian, Noah and Wes are still part of book two really gives them depth and gets my empathy going. Theres a little plot overlap between books one and two. The steam level is just right, with excellent pacing. Dual perspective narratives are one of my favorite styles to read too. Plus now I’m anxious to read book three because apparently the situation from book one is somehow connected. It’s a great twist.

    Less drama, more action.
Loved both guys. The side characters are great too. No overbearing family.

This the 2nd book of the Baum’s Boxing and it overlaps a smidge with Below the Belt. (You should read a bit of the storyline weaves in to this one)
Ryan is a lawyer who still feels guilty over destroying his best friends life. He feels that he had sabotaged everything and doesn’t deserve anything good.

Cole is a Major in the Royal Navy and was blinded during combat. He’s still reeling from the after effects of being blind when he had been sighted his whole life.
Neither man want to have a relationship because they believe they are damaged goods. But a relationship blooms and it’s sweet and good and they finally have it.

But Coles past comes back to haunt him and you just don’t know who is doing what.
E.M Lindsey is extremely good at leaving little bits of information making you guess who is doing what. It was fun trying to figure out who the cast of characters were.

The writing style is awesome. I was hanging on to every word. I needed to see how Ryan and Cole developed their relationship.

I cannot wait to read book 3

If you like military veterans, thrillers and happy endings, definitely try out this book

I didn't read the first book in the series about Adrian and Noah but it didn't spoil this read. This is a new author to me and I went in with no expectations but thoroughly enjoyed the book. It's a grown-up, no fluff romance packed full of drama and suspense. Cole and Ryan were so good together and met each other at the right point in both their lives. There's a lot happening here , you'll be guessing who the bad guys are and willing on the MCs. I didn't want to put this down and so happy I saw this book mentioned on Facebook. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

After meeting them both in book 1 I couldn't wait to get to know Ryan and Cole better. The chemistry between them was evident then, and even moreso in this book. I love that we get dual POV so we really get the depth and details of what is happening for both of them. Cole's past comes back to bite him big time, dragging his daughter and her mother into the mix as well. I loved how Ryan fit into everything and how clear it was that he was falling for Cole but so respected his strength and independence. The storyline played out well, and I liked that there were several characters we had to try and figure out which side they were on with regards to Cole. I'm definitely looking forward to Rhys and Trevor's book. Definitely a book and series I'd recommend.
