Found at Sea (Tales of Fate Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 893 ratings

Kellan
They call me the demon of the sea. A pirate captain so cruel that not even death will claim me. They aren’t wrong.

Any humanity I once had is gone. I’m cursed. A curse that will someday consume me, unless I find the key to breaking it. Just when I’m beginning to lose hope, I meet an auburn-haired beauty in a tavern who captivates me like no other, and my cold heart starts to beat again.

He’s innocent. Pure. And I’m so very wicked. But I still crave him.

Fletcher
I crave adventure. Listening to sailors weave tales of their exploits makes me long to see the world as they have. But my life is ordinary. Then, pirates enter the tavern one night and press-gang me to join the crew.

I’m both afraid and excited by what awaits me aboard the legendary pirate ship. Captain Kellan Flynn is dangerous. However, he awakens a desire I’ve never felt before. The cold, hard stare he gives others softens when he looks at me.

If he’s as horrible as they say, why do I feel so drawn to him?

*Found at Sea is a fantasy romance featuring a grumpy pirate, sexy times in the captain's cabin, and swashbuckling adventure. HEA guaranteed.*

This book was literally literally amazing! This was my first I guess pirate romance and it did not disappoint whatsoever. I originally saw a reel for this book on Instagram from somebody that I follow and I instantly added it to my TBR because it sounded so interesting to me.

This book wasn’t very long, so I finished it and record time because I honestly couldn’t stop reading it. The way the story was written was absolutely perfect and had me hanging on to every single word. it had pirates, adventure, debauchery, an evil curse, and so much more.

I am literally going to be reading the rest of this series

The story was great and so was the world building. My only pet peeve and the reason why I take 2 stars off is bc every single female mentioned in this book is a sex*object/prostit*te. The author makes useless comments about their bodies that add nothing to the story even going as far as using them as descriptors no different than the inanimate objects in the scenes. I know this is an mm abt pirates and brothels are a thing, but it’s over the top. Dear author, I sense some internal misogyny going on in here😬

I've read a few things from Jaclyn before, but this one honestly tops the list. I looooove PIRATES, and this story was so perfectly woven together with a sweet love story, and swash buckling adventure. All that was missing was a few "argggh" and "aye mateys" but then again those are so cliche. Seriously, it was well written...the characters were real and the love story was honest and you believed it. Sometimes I roll my eyes at people who fall in love in 2 days.

My one gripe, and it is a small one, is that I found the ending a little rushed. It came up so suddenly I kept thinking something was wrong with my Kindle saying there was only 5% left of the story to go. Nah, couldn't be the end!!!! I would have preferred to learn more about what happened with Alek, or what part Eva will play in things (I really hope we see her in the next book) and I SOOO want to learn more about Triton too. So many characters that were so interesting, I hope they get explored in the other books.

This is a series I will "one-click buy" as soon as it is available for pre-order. I have only about 3 authors I do that with, and Jaclyn and her "Tales of Fate" series has just become #4 without a doubt.

Swashbuckling adventures on the high seas with a grumpy pirate and innocent, sweet, and sassy crew mate! Jaclyn Osborn is one of those authors that can write across genres and excels at anything :) Found at Sea has been on my TBR list for a long time but I heard rumors that she was planning on writing a 3rd book so I waited patiently. Waiting paid off because she's going to release Book 3 in March which meant now was the perfect time to binge-read the first two books. Found at Sea was amazing, sweet, steamy, and adventurous with mermen, pirates, magic, and evil lurking everything. Kellan and Fletcher are complete opposites and Kellan's grumpy and stoic personality melted page by page thanks to Fletcher his red-headed song boy. Wow absolutely amazing and I'm so glad Alek got his own story in Book 2 :) The author made Found at Sea a freebie for a short time to promo her newest release which was so generous and sweet of her! She's amazing :)

What a fun read! What’s in this tasty little morsel?

A virgin 19 man pinning for adventure.
    A demon pirate battling a well-deserved curse.
    Whoring.
    Fighting
    Killing.
    Friendship.
    Mermen.
    Dark witches.
    Deflowering—virgin no more!!
    Lots of satisfying sex.
    A cuddly pirate—who knew?
    Treachery.
    Death.
    HEA.

If you’ve read Axios by the same author, don’t expect that level of magnificence.

This was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours while watching a crusty pirate heart find its beat again.

If I could give more than a 5 star to this book, I would! This had more adventure than what I’m normally used to reading and I think I am hooked!
THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS
Captain Kellan Flynn is a hardened pirate, who has done horrible things during his reign of the Crimson pirate ship. He and his crew pillage and kill (some men doing worse) and it has earned him a right little curse on his soul.
Fletcher is a young man living in a bar loft, serving drink and food to its patrons, but he longs for a life of adventure. When his boss, and closest thing to a parent he has had, tells him that he can no longer afford to keep him in, he knows that this is the time to make his move toward a fuller life. When a pirate ship docks and the men come into his town, he runs into one of them in a brothel, but he is with men, not women and Fletcher is rooted to the spot. Captain Flynn, while with a couple men in the brothel spots the young boy and is immediately intrigued, but Fletcher runs.
Through events that transpire that night, Fletcher is whisked off by Captain Flynn, with the option to either join them and become a pirate, or become a captive and be a prisoner on the ship.

What I loved most about this book is the incredibly heartfelt love story that forms between these two men. A once completely horrendous Kellan becomes a decent man as he looks for the cure to his curse. And the secondary characters, like Alek and Horace round the story out so perfectly.

I don't like it soo much as Sent to a Fantasy World, but I like Fletcher and his music, our grumpy Captain and our sunshine Alek 🥰. The ending was unexpectedly, like a little fairytale, but I think I missed a little bit the feeling of a chosen family (like in Sent to a Fantasy World or the boys in Galen). I will read novel 2 and I am excited to explore other books by Jaclyn 🙃🍂

I can’t find the words to say how much I loved this story. I was so hook, the angst and pace perfect, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the chemistry between Kellan and Fletcher. A steamy MM romance with the incredible imagination of Jaclyn Osborn as a bonus. If you’re not into fantasy and mythology, it’s not a problem, you will be addicted to this book nevertheless. The balance between the storyline and the romance make you enjoy the book no matter what reservation you can have. Because one strength of this book is that the fantasy and mythology parts are sticking together, they don’t overwhelm you and the focus is still on Fletcher and Kellan... they dont get lost in the mystical parts so even if you’re not a fan of fantasy read, you can enjoy this story, as I did. Its a strong five stars again for Jaclyn Osborn.

I love a good fantasy novel and this was a beautifully written fantasy with lots of heat and romance. Fletcher is a lovely mix of kind and sassy and Kellan is so dark and pant melting broody. I love them as a couple. I'm downloading the next in the series right now!

A sort of fairytale, with pirate adventures minus the pillaging (on page) and a secret to undo the spell of a witch on a hard-hearted bad guy. Denial, redemption, secrets, and love.
