Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour (Boys of the Bayou Book 6): a friends with benefits small town rom com Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 1,542 ratings

She’s been proposed to five times. Five.

She even said yes to one of them. And then broke his heart when she called it off. Not to mention her mother’s heart. And her grandmother’s. And his mother’s. And…you get the picture. Paige Asher has now officially sworn off all dating. Diamonds give her hives. All she wants is to be a yoga-doing, cat-collecting, vegetarian in peace. Away from her marriage-crazy family and all their expectations.

So when her weekend fling turns into a real friend and offers her a place to escape, she finds herself on his doorstep in Louisiana. And right in the middle of not just one family wedding, but three.

Of course.

Charming, sexy bayou boy Mitch Landry gets stuff done. Whatever anyone needs. From alligator-sitting to getting a buddy drunk to showing a woman a good time to fixing a swamp boat, he’s the man. No problem. No drama.

But he wants a hell of a lot more from Paige than a temporary friends-with-benefits arrangement. He wants to take care of her. And her five cats. He also really wants other men to stop asking her to marry them.

But if a roommate and a few orgasms are all she wants, that’s what he’ll deliver. He can just be her friend and not commit the greatest sin of all…asking her for forever. Probably.

*Paige and Mitch's story starts in the prequel, Oh, Fudge, part of the Hot Cakes series if you're into prequels! Not a necessary read but does make it more fun! (and yes, you can read Oh, Fudge without reading the rest of the Hot Cakes series)

Back to the bayou
5 out of 5 stars
Back to the bayou
It was great going back to visit with the Landry’s. Paige has had five proposals. Mitch was her one night stand that turned into more. When Paige leave her hometown in Iowa after the fifth proposal, she heads to see Mitch in the bayou. She learns a lot about herself because none of the Landry’s especially Mitch are trying to change her. They accept her the way she is. The only problem is Mitch is falling hard and fast. This is more than a typical love story. It is self discovery for each of the main characters. Of course discovering things about each other makes them grow closer. This is a sexy heartwarming book. Erin Nicholas writes realistic characters with chemistry that is off the charts. Another great from Erin.

How I love the Boys of the Bayou, let me count the ways. There’s Josh and Owen, Sawyer and Chase, then there’s Mitch! Mitch is all around a great guy! He’s there for whoever needs him and for whatever they need. He doesn’t have girlfriends, just hook ups. He leads a simple, fun, and other than his family, an uncommitted life. Until he meets Paige… she should have been a one night stand a thousand miles away. But he can’t get her out of his mind.

After being proposed to a 5th time, and not because of love, Paige heads to Autre, Louisiana, the Bayou, and Mitch to get out of her small Iowa town and the eyes and ears of everyone she knows and has known all her life, and their expectations. After all, he did invite her, right?

Once in Louisiana, she makes it plain she is there temporarily and for Mitch to not get attached. Problem is that Mitch already is. But he also wants to be there as a friend for her. Of course, the entire Landry family gets involved, and the craziness ensues. They are a loud, crazy, but a wonderful extended family, and not necessarily by blood. I LOVE the Landry family and wish they could adopt me.

Erin Nicholas books ALWAYS leave a smile on my face and warm feeling in my heart. She can combine charming and naughty in the same sentence and have you laughing well after the book is finished. I love her small towns and the people in them. I want to move to each one she has written about in every series. The interactions between her characters make them come alive! She has a knack for creating humor from any circumstance, whether it is Paige meeting Mitch’s cousin for the first time, getting a little naughty on the Bayou, or having a conversation with an otter. ‘Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour’ is the last of the Boys of the Bayou series, but there are MORE Landry cousins to come in a new series starting soon, and THAT makes me incredibly happy.

You will NEVER be disappointed reading an Erin Nicholas book.

Mitch and Paige might just be my favorite bayou story.

Paige Asher is a young, commitment phobic cat lover. She has been proposed to 4 times, accepting only once but calling off the wedding a few weeks prior. This devastated her mother as the man she was engaged to was the son of her mother’s best friend. Paige poured herself into her yoga studio/cat café. She felt everything her family did or asked of her was a personal attack on her. Her older sister asking her to help with her niece and nephew’s school projects? Were they trying to push her into having children? Having dinner with her sister and brother-in-law? Were they trying to pressure her into getting married? Paige did everything she could to close herself off, especially her heart.

Mitch Landry is a hard-working bayou boy. He is the resident handy man helping wherever he is needed but preferring to stay in the shadows. Mitch does not want praise for anything he does, he just wants to help everyone. He seems to put the needs of his family far before his own needs. He was raised by a single father who relied on family help while he was working. He ingrained in Mitch’s head to always help, do not be a bother, make people enjoy having you around. Mitch took this to heart.

When Josh and Tori need help moving Tori’s animals from Iowa to the bayou, of course Mitch would help. That is when he meets Paige…over the back end of an alpaca. In true Landry fashion, it is love at first sight…at least for Mitch. They have a hot, steamy one-night stand. Well, it was supposed to be a one stand until Mitch returns to Appleby, Iowa, saves the day and invites Paige to visit him in Autre, Louisiana.

Paige is at her sister’s wedding when she receives marriage proposal number 5. She just can not take it anymore. She packs up her car, and 5 cats, heading for Autre, Louisiana…without telling anyone. She arrives in Louisiana, surprising Mitch. This is where the Four Weddings and a Swamp Boat Tour really begins. This is a story of a woman falling in love with a town and a family before she can admit she is in love with the man who brought her to this town. Paige finds her purpose, herself and opens herself up to love. Mitch learns to start putting himself first, going after what he wants.

Another fantastic story by Erin Nicholas. Though this book is a standalone, reading the previous books in this series will give you a better appreciation of this story and help you fall in love with Autre, Louisiana even more.

Oh my goodness, I laughed so much during this book. The words that come out of Paige's mouth had me snorting. Mitch is a fun, loving, sweet guy. He is a hard worker, selfless, and never asks for anything in return. Paige is a commitment-phobe. She is only twenty-two years old, and she has been proposed to five times! I understand Paige's hesitation on marriage after so many non-heart felt proposes, but I felt like she took advantage of Mitch. Mitch bent over backward for Paige. He walked on egg-shells to keep her from running away. All the demands she had, or thought that she wanted, ended up not being what she needed. I was glad to see that Paige realized how extra special Mitch was and found her purpose in life near the end of the book. The steamy scenes were spicy, and the company was entertaining—a great read and addition to the Bayou series.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn’t get enough of this pair....

Lordy, Lordy..... if I thought Mitch Landry was hot in Oh, Fudge I was seriously underestimating the guy!! Everything about him is adorable, except maybe his dirty talking... yeah, that’s something else! ;)

I couldn’t get enough of this pair. Following Mitch’s visit and a fifth... yeah a FIFTH out of the blue proposal, Paige Asher decides to take him up on his offer of a place to escape to. She figures a pit stop in Autre, Louisiana on her way to the next chapter of her life will let her escape the craziness in Appleby, spend a little fun time with Mitch and clear her mind. What she didn’t bargain on was Mr Landry on his own turf!!!

Mitch knew what and who he wanted, he also knew what not to say to give himself a chance to get Paige to see that he was exactly what she needed.
Only thing is, will his crazy family, who are always trying to pair folk off scare her away before he has a chance to win her over?

I loved how off kilter Mitch had Paige. How well she integrated into the coming and goings in the Bayou, how she fit in with his friends and family and how Paige eventually herself worked out exactly hat she wanted!!

An excellent read from Erin Nicholas. Her books are some of my favourite reads and I cannot wait to find out what’s next down on the Bayou.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love MITCH and Paige's Road to discovery of selfs

Loved the continuation of Mitch and Paige's story. I love how alive the characters are and the slight bringing together of Appleby family and the Bayou craziness. As I love both series dearly I loved this link and insight not only into the 2 main characters of this specific book but the continuation glimpses of previous main characters. I am always wondering where each character progresses too so love series like this. Can not wait for Boys of Bayou gone wild series.
