The Heart of a Peach (Fox River Romance Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 15 ratings

Olivia Hamilton can do no wrong. Or at least that’s what the community of Fox River, North Carolina thinks of the odd but sweet young lady. She’s hiding a past she’d rather forget, engaged to the town’s most eligible bachelor, and longing for someone to see past the mask she wears. Olivia wants to find herself, forgive herself, and fall in love with someone who sees and embraces her flaws.

Denver MacKenna grew up the fiddle-playing prodigy of not only his hometown of Fox River but of North Carolina and the surrounding states. He plays obsessively and tours as often as possible, escaping a life of loneliness at home. Until he meets a beautiful siren who calls to him and has him making plans to settle down. Denver knows it’s wrong to covet the elusive Olivia, but finds himself inexplicably drawn to the brief glimpses she gives him of her true self.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Prepare to swoon for this sweet, small town love story set in the enchanting world of Fox River. Silenced by years under her father's tyranny, Olivia must find her voice or risk losing herself entirely. Aloof Denver may be the only person who can set Olivia's musical heart free. Drawn to her soulful melody, Denver's unexpected kindness after he overhears her singing alone could be just what Olivia needs to help her reclaim the strength she's buried deep inside. Sprinkled with keen insights and a dash of humor, Jess B. Moore's slow-burn romance left me thoroughly delighted!" - Meagan Macvie, author of The Ocean in My Ears

Jess B. Moore is a writer of love stories. When she’s not writing, she’s busy mothering her accomplished and headstrong children, reading obscene numbers of books, and knitting scarves she’ll likely never finish.

Jess lives in small town North Carolina with her bluegrass obsessed family. She takes too many pictures of her cats, thinking the Internet loves them as much as she does. She is a firm believer of swapping stories over coffee or wine, and that there should always be dark chocolate involved.

The Fox River Romance novels combine her interests in family, music, and small towns into thoughtful tales of growing up and falling in love. These books can be read as stand-alone, or as a series starting with The Guilt of a Sparrow.

Short, simple, yet very sweet romance novel
4 out of 5 stars
Short, simple, yet very sweet romance novel
This was such a breezy romance with two wonderful characters that just put a smile on my face. What really stands out in the novel is the author’s beautiful manner of writing it. The story is very simple with two people meeting and falling in love. There are a few negative characters, but they are scarce in the story-line. Moreover, there is no unnecessary drama, twists or turns, or complications. Yet, I was moved by the story-line just to see the two characters bring out the best of each other. Similarly, the author has a wonderful talent for making you love the characters from the first chapter. Denver and Olivia are adorable together. It was nice seeing Olivia come out of her shell after interacting with Denver. However, more than the couple, I loved Olivia’s relationship with her mother. It was beautiful to see how the mother supported her daughter and stood by her. Hence, this was the highlight of the story for me. Also, the supporting characters like Cotton, Penny, Maggie etc. are also very cute and compliment the leads. However, I was surprised that Matthew did not pursue going after Olivia as I thought his ego would be bruised. Also, Matthew’s mother is a nasty piece of work, and I thought she would have made a bigger appearance to bring additional drama. On a side note, I felt like some of the language used did not really fit with the characters or timeline. For example, Denver uses a few expletives in one chapter, and Olivia uses outdated terms like “Heavens to Betsy” in another. Apart from that, I really enjoyed reading this novel. Overall, “The Heart of a Peach” is a short, simple, yet very sweet romance novel.

Jess has a way of writing so that you feel you know the characters a handful of pages into her books. The Heart of a Peach is no different. It feels like you're a fly on the wall watching this lovely romance bloom between Olivia and Denver. The tentative way that they fall head over heels is so relatable as a chronic overthinker myself! I finish every Fox River book desperately awaiting the next!

Jess B Moore is hands down, my favorite contemporary romance writer. Contemporary is not my go to genre, but this author is able to captivate me and keep me hooked.

The Heart of a Peach is another beautiful story. Hope and strength at the core, the plot moves along wonderfully, and I had a lot of trouble setting it down.

I absolutely love the characters. They are so heartfelt and deep. Jess B Moore creates real people in her stories.

    Beautiful. Highly recommended.
