Falling for the dance captain was never part of the plan...

Cami Simpson is the ‘it girl’—at least until a string of terrible decisions leads to no boyfriend, no captainship of the dance team, and no fancy apartment. Due to a mold outbreak at her place, she’s forced to relocate to a co-ed dorm as a senior. And to top it off, she finds out she’s at risk of not graduating due to an error in her schedule. Talk about the worst senior year ever.

Frederick Brady the IV would never admit the massive crush he once had on the dance darling. Not to anyone. They’d almost had a moment a year ago, but she crushed him, so she’s the last person he wants to live next to. It doesn’t matter though. He’s on his way out to an internship and almost done with school where he can leave his heartbreak and data foes behind.

Neither expected to form a friendship or know what to do about their insane chemistry. With late nights, insides jokes, and the rare comfort they find in each other… lines blur, and the popular girl gets with the nerdy guy. Only, Freddie’s done this before and knows how it ends. His insecurities clash with Cami’s need to be picked first, so when Freddie has to choose where to attend his internship, he can either pick the job or the girl. And for the guy who’s set on protecting his heart, well, he might break hers in the process.

Jaqueline Snowe lives in Arizona where the "dry heat" really isn't that bad. She prefers drinking coffee all hours of the day and snacking on anything that has peanut butter or chocolate. She is the mother to two dogs who don’t realize they aren’t humans and a mom. She is an avid reader and writer of romances and tends to write about athletes. Her husband works for an MLB team (not a player, lol) so she knows more about baseball than any human ever should.

This was such a cute and fresh friends to lovers romance. I loved reading about their friendship growing into more with each caring moment. They are total opposite but balance each other out. I loved the fact that they love everything about each other and are 100% supportive of one another. Freddie thought his qualities were boring but Cami didn’t think so and loved those parts about him so much.

Cami thought she was too wild and didn’t like that but Freddie loved those because he sees it as a woman with ambition and is determined to work hard and achieve her dreams no matter what.

It truly was a beautiful read.

This friends to lovers story was great. I liked it but I wasn’t invested in Freddie or Cami. Their chemistry was good but at times too over the top. The plot was pretty straight forward. Nothing new under the sun. An okay read.

Yes to all that delicious build-up!! I loved all the small touches, longing glances, flirty banter and awkward moments between Cami and Freddie.

This is a perfectly done opposites-attract, cool girl/ nerdy boy romance. There was a lack of communication at times, but with all the insecurities and baggage that they both had it actually made sense and didn't bother me at all.

I loved this book, loved this couple and I hope we get more from this series.

I really enjoyed Cami and Freddie! We don’t get to read enough beautiful, confident, and fun heroines, but they are some of my favorites. Freddie’s sweet nature was just what Cami needed to melt her “ice princess” persona. Additionally, who doesn’t love a sweet, nerdy guy who unleashes in the bedroom??? A great, fun read. 4 stars 🌟

I LOVED Freddie. I loved that he was shy but still a knockout in other ways;). Cami and him are perfect together and this book was never put down.

Honestly, so close I just never got over the “IV” being traded for “third” … you see, more than language, more than plot, more than grammar, more than stories, I’m a names girl… from the second I hear a character’s name I am writing it down and comparing the characters personality to the traits of the name … and that hurt my heart.

    Loved loved loved these nuanced
charcters and the way they shared themselves with each other and the reader. Adorable couple, hot and sweet and perfect.

This is my first reading a book from Jaqueline Snowe and it won’t be the last! Already downloaded Naomi’s story on my Kindle.

This book captivated my attention right off the bat. I loved how the characters developed into so much more then what the world saw them. Misunderstood “it” girl who feels like she is never good enough and nerdy gentle giant who lacks confidence.

Their story is beautiful and I loved how it all turned out in the end. Can’t wait to see what else Jaqueline comes out with!

This book was so fun to read. The interaction between Freddy and Cami was so cute throughout the story.
At the begining of the book they started out as roommates who can't stand each other at times but went on to be a crucial part of each other's life.
I would definitely recommend this book to all the romance lovers out there. You will like this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great opposites attract romance
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 16, 2022
The author has written a wonderful romance between opposites. A popular girl with a 'nerdy' guy is one I haven't seen in books as much as if it were the other way around. I think the author has done a good job with the storyline. Forced proximity, opposites attract and also there being some misunderstood history between the two characters makes for a good read.
I was invested in the characters from the start and was glad of the way their story unfolded and ended.
A great book written by a great author. I can't wait to read more from her.

3.0 out of 5 stars The introvert, an extrovert, and a series of push and pull

    Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 3.5

This is a slight deviation from my normal reads as it was a side story to the sport romance (football, hockey, baseball) series I normally read… but I enjoyed the dancer and the nerd.

I enjoyed the banter and the building of trust the characters Freddie and Cami had. As someone with routines and has that space where things need to be a certain way I appreciate the detail and dedication towards Freddie as a character. The careful lining up of the skittle reward system with the highlighters was absolutely adorable and relatable.

I’m not a fan of miscommunications and those circumstances that lead to the 3rd act breakups but I loved how patient and kind Freddie was when realizing the wrongs.

Overall, an adorable couple and their story was sweet. I look forward to seeing the next couple in the Central State series. 💕
