Getting Lucky: A Sweet Closed Door Romance (Asheville Brewing) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,503 ratings

One night. Just one night.

Or at least that’s what Maisie tells herself when she brings Jack Durand home. Because even though his arms are things of beauty and he can charm wild animals (a huge turn-on for an animal lover like her), she’s in no position to start anything with anyone. So she pretends she’s just scratching an itch.

Jack is pretending too. His little sister is moving to Asheville as his ward, and between getting her through her senior year of high school and working at the family brewery, he doesn’t have time for a girlfriend. Even a sexy, no-nonsense powerhouse like Maisie.

But he can’t stop thinking about her, and it turns out he doesn’t have to. Her best friend, River, announces his engagement to Jack’s half-sister, Georgie, and—surprise!—they’re both in the wedding party.

Fate keeps throwing Jack and Maisie together, reminding them of how good they are together . . . which would be a whole lot less complicated if she hadn’t spent half her life in love with River.

So good!!

So good!!
I really enjoyed getting to know more about Jack in this installment. The mystery that has surrounded Jack in the past books is finally revealed and it just opened the floodgates. It can be a emotional book for some but I found it bittersweet. There is some comedy, and angst. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a goose the same ever again. If you know, you know! 🤣 We get to see several of the past characters in this installment. We also get to see Lee and Vic-tor-ia.😂 If you enjoy romcom then check this series out.

This series is so enjoyable and has such great characters. This one i especially loved because Maisie being in rescue, and vegetarian was super relatable. (We volunteer for cat rescue and are vegetarian) it's so rare to have a veg character thar isn't just used as a comedic quip. Jack is probably my favorite of the guys so far. I especially loved all his interactions with his sisters. Adelia is still my fav of the ladies. I adore her free spirit and loved that she was still in this quite a bit.

I did remove one star because the goose lady is evil not funny and every time she's in this i was left feeling like "why would they allow this awful person with no empathy in their lives?"
Excited for Lee's story although so far Blue has seemed like the most bland character so im nervous., but i must continue my binge.

This is book 3 in the Asheville Brewery series about the Buchanan family and the Buchanan Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina. It is a wonderful story full of friendship, family, quirky characters, drama, silliness, misunderstandings, and love. Jack is one of the Buchanan siblings who inherited the Buchanan Brewery when their grandfather Beau died. Jack is only a half-sibling to the other three and has the added drama of a mentally ill mom and an underage sister. He is an embarrassing mistake for their father and one that was kept secret. Maisie is an Asheville local who is the best friend of the two men who are in love with the two Buchanan sisters. Maisie runs a local no-kill animal shelter and she has a secret - she is working to get over being in love with one of her best friends who is in love with someone else. Jack and Maisie agree to one night with no strings attached, of course their hearts may have a different plan. On their way to their happily ever after, Jack has to decide that his happiness is just as important as parenting his sister and Maisie has to learn to loosen her iron grip on the past in order to embrace good changes instead of thread bare pale reminders of things. I love when real issues - like family difficulties and mental health issues - are included in romances, it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. With Getting Lucky, Denise Grover Swank again proves she’s a master storyteller of sweet romances full of lovable characters with just a touch of angst. I am excited to read what’s next for the Buchanan siblings and their brewery.

I lived this book by Denise Grover Swank. Maisie meets Jack, and they have a moment that ends up at her house. She's the best woman at his sisters wedding. He has a sister that doesn't want him to mess with her friendship. She doesn't like change since her parents death. He helps her to see that not all change is bad. I loved reading their story and can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Getting Lucky, book 3 in Denise Grover Swank and A.R. Casella's Ashville Brewing series, is a delightful romance full of quirky characters we have come to love in previous books in the series. Once again, Denise and A.R have created two main characters , Jack and Maise, who are easy to relate to as well as believe in. Both are a little broken, with the usual trust issues we find in relationships in our thirties. Yet, fate or the circumstances of life bring them together and in each other they find their true Soul companion. This book had me in tears at times, and laughing uproariously at others. And many times I just sat there with a smile thinking "Ah!". Again, by the time I finished I was ready to book a flight to Ashville in order to find Buchanon Brewery and try Hair of Hops or other delicious sounding IPA's. And as I am hardly a beer drinker that is saying a lot about how this book affected me! I have already pre-ordered the next book in the series as there is no doubt that I will love it as much as I have loved the rest. I highly recommend you pick up this book as well as the rest of the series. You won't regret a minute spent with this fun romance.

Jack and Maisie were the perfect couple, they belonged together. Jack Durand (sexy, smart, alphaliscious) inherited 1/4 of a brewery and moved to Asheville to help manage it. Maisie O'Shea (sexy, curvy, red hair, green eyes) owned a dog shelter. Her chemistry with Jack was off the charts. She was bold and feisty and he was quick-witted enough to keep up with her. They agreed to a ONS, but they fell for one another. Jack's complicated relationships with his siblings was good writing. Scenes with the animals were cute, but not funny, neither were the chaos incidents. However, the romance between Jack and Maisie more than made up for the lack of comedy.

The continuing story of Buchanan Brewery finds Maisie O’Shea, friends of River and Finn who started the local shelter for dogs and Jack Durand, the son of Buchanan who only became known to the reader when the elder Buchanan died run away for what is to be one night together. Maisie’s sassy no question is not to be asked, and Jack who is trying very hard to fit in had no idea that one night would lead to something very special and the main story line of this book. I like the way Ms. Grover Swank and A.R. Casella continue the story of the other Buchanan children in this book. We’ve learned that River and Georgie are engaged and planning a wedding, Adalia and Finn’s relationship is stronger than ever, Aunt Dottie is a hoot, and what’s with Lurch and Stella? Fitting in Jack’s sister Iris and letting the reader see a little of Lee the brother all brings the reader asking for more.

Please start this series at the beginning with Georgie and Rivers story, Any Luck At All. Sometimes its the family were are born with, but often it's the family we make that is most important.

Excellent world of wonderful characters, witty dialogue and a very good plot.

This story is the third in the series and we find out more about the brother who has just joined the family and the brother who has kept away from the family. Jack Durrand shows who he really is and what type of character he portrays and what exactly is under that skin. Maisie part of the bro club begins a path of moving on without even recognising that is what she is doing. Together Maisie and Jack are on a journey and we get to join the ride. Of course, this wouldn't be Asheville if we didn't have bumps and twists along the way (most of those are provided by Dottie :))
And of course, there is the little organisation of a wedding thrown in for good measure, I LOVE IT!

I loved this book. I loved how we got to know Jack. He was a man of mystery . And Maisie was the perfect woman for him! It has, as per norm of all the books, all the feels. Five stars and can't wait for the next one!

The 3rd book in the Asheville Brewing series was as enjoyable as the 1st two books, with some laughs, family tension/drama and of course romance. The joint authors writing blends and flows seamlessly and the characters come to life in the page. Looking forward to book 4 (already pre-ordered) - and really hoping it won't be the last in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved getting to know more about Jack and Maise. I also enjoyed hearing more about the characters from the previous stories. I like the style of writing the Denise and A.R really complement each other. Again I was hooked from page 1. But I must say my favourite character is Aunt Dottie.
