Fans of Finlay Donovan is Killing it will ADORE Give it Arrest!

But we're in way over our head. Over-run with orders, suspicious neighbours, a sexy detective on our trail and drug dealers angry we're working on their patch.

Can I pull us out of this dangerous world we've found ourselves in, all while ignoring the attraction between me and sexy detective Harry?

And can I do it before we end up in prison?

I fell in love with the premise of this book before I even turned a page and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. It's ludicrous, hilarious and a whole lot of fun.

Laura Barnard writes the kind of stuff I love to read - potty-mouthed heroines and steamy sex scenes. Uh huh. Dopey Women lays it on thick and juicy. Sadie is a terrific lead character - smart, caring but not immune to the occasional act of stupidity. She's supported by a fun cast of misfits, each endearing in their own way and tending towards foolishness on a slightly more regular basis. Dopey Women also include my favourite hero - the anti-hero - the one Sadie is not supposed to like but simply cannot resist. I love those bad boys.

The story is fast-paced and hard to put down - riddled with twists and turns you won't see coming. I loved it and I can't wait to read more of Laura's work.

Oh wow, I loved this book.

The plot was not only unique, it stayed on point, never lost focused, and it was surprising. I loved all the characters, their struggles and just connecting with each one on a emotional level. I never knew I could feel so much for fictional characters as I have with these woman. Each struggle, heart break, happiness, and joy, I felt.

I was sad when this was over, but fulfilled. For me I felt that there where no lose ends, or questions unanswered.

The road to rebuild was touching, but the way it was written, I couldn't stop laughing. Witty, fun, and consent I was never bored. Throw in a sexy detective, that is always around the corner, and you have the perfect mix for an out-of-this-world romcom.

There are very few books that I can read in one sitting, and this was one of them. To me the ability to write a world so captivating that you are lost with in it's pages, is pure magic. To make me laugh out loud, will that pure witch craft.

I would like to thank Laura Barnard giving my the opportunity to read this astonishing work of art.

    Happy Reading

I was provided an early copy of Dopey Women in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, this book is absolutely hilarious, brutally honest and deeply enthralling! The story begins with Sadie being called into the boss’s office for what she believes is a well-deserved promotion. When she walks in, her boss tells her that her department is all essentially…terminated. She has to face three women and inform them of this terrifying and difficult anomaly—right after she has a full on breakdown and throws something through her boss’s window for the lack of respect that he has given to her and her team. Sadie decides that the best way to find other employment is to go and apply to as many places as possible; however, when months go by without any word…she comes up with this crazy idea and the girls agree with her. They are going to start growing and distributing marijuana for cancer patients to help them through their chemo! That would make a boatload of money, right?! As soon as things get a little HARRY…she decides that they may have overstepped the boundaries, and she has become the very thing that she despises, out of total desperation. By the time she makes this rationalization, she doesn’t know if it has become too late to back out. What if she gets caught and goes to jail—could she ever have a prosperous future after that…and what happens to the girls that she has formed such a strong relationship with if she just turns her back and walks away?

My favorite characters in Dopey Women are Sadie and Mags. The author has gifted both of these women with grand personalities! While Lexi and Steph were a little annoying, Mags and Sadie were fun, piss-your-pants funny, intelligent and honest. What I loved most about the both of them was that they seemed to have the strongest connection, like mother and daughter. Their moral compass may have been off by a bit…okay a lot, yet it still took strength to move forward after they knew the consequences. In my opinion, no one likes to read about someone’s perfect life—and theirs were all far from it! Harry seemed very stand-offish at first; however, I warmed up to him quickly and could see what direction his life was heading before him!

I really enjoyed reading the story because it was highly creative, well-written and fast-paced. The author was able to hold my attention throughout the entire read. Overall, this was a wonderful read. I would have to note that I think this story to be inappropriate for anyone under the age of eighteen due to the language and situational dilemmas that are placed into the plot of the story. It was incredibly difficult to put down and any books that I have difficulty with this problem deserve five stars!

This is my second book by this author and it won’t be my last. I love that she writes strong women and gives them oodles of personality and character. The storyline was unexpected and super funny and there was just enough steam and not much cheese. I loved that the women stood up for themselves and each other. It’s a super fast read and a fun way to spend a day.

What a fun book. I laughed so hard in places that I could hardly breathe. The characters in this story are likeable and down to earth, they are easy to relate to which is why I enjoyed it so much. Another good job from Laura
