Gold Digger (Bridge to Abingdon Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 579 ratings

Grayson:
Billions can't buy me the one thing my life is missing: the one that got away.

Liam Gold was my first love, and I’ve spent years searching for him. Liam is back in Abingdon, and he’s just as beautiful as he ever was. He’s also down on his luck and living out of his pickup.

The haters might say he's a gold digger, but I'm going to take Liam in, heal his wounds, and give him a life he’s never imagined. When I look at all of my money and all the
stuff it’s gotten me, nothing compares to what I had with Liam. I’ll fight like hell to keep him, come what may.

Liam:
Everyone deserves a second chance. Even a loser like me.

The gossip-mongers say I’m a swindler. A con artist. Thirsty for Grayson Ellis, and hungry for his money.

They got one part right. I'm so thirsty for Grayson I'm
parched.

Let people talk. I may be running a long con, but it’s not what they think. If I can get that man stay with me forever, I’ll move heaven and earth to make him happy. And I’ll sacrifice
everything to make him mine.

Gold Digger is the sixth book in the Bridge to Abingdon series. Each book focuses on one steamy couple, and each can be read as a standalone novel. Liam and Gray are finally getting their second chance, even if the whole world is against them. There’s plenty to love in Gold Digger—island paradises, meddling gossip-mongers, hot lovin’, and a sweet pup who finds his forever home. Liam and Gray are coming home to Abingdon… and they won’t let anyone get in the way of their second chance.

A great corporate/Abingdon love story!
4 out of 5 stars
A great corporate/Abingdon love story!
This story was oh so sweet. The geek falls in love with his jock friend, looses sight of him for years, but does not forget him, ever. He, Grayson, becomes a billionaire and keeps looking for Liam, who’s football career came to an end due to injury. He becomes homeless. Grayson, who never gave up on his love, takes Liam in and starts loving him good and proper. Ooh what a beautiful Cinderella story, with a wicked witch lurking around. But, all’s well that ends well. Their love is strong enough. For a shorter story, it is well written, the MCs convey the emotions they feel; the author keeps her audience engaged with unexpected twists and turns in the story, which is why I love to read (listen to!) certain authors, who have the talent to entertain on a high level. Recommendable as are all the other books in the series. ❤️

This story is adorable. You can feel the love between Liam and Grayson right from the beginning. It seemed short, but I've also read this whole series back to back, so that could be on me. Regardless, it was cute, passionate and the drama kept it adventurous.

Beautifully written story of two childhood friends who dreamed of buying and fixing up a fantastic broken down mansion and renovating it to its former glory. Liam is destined for riches and glory with a future in the NFL until a debilitating college injury finally leaves him homeless, living in his rusted old truck with beloved dog Beau, collecting cans for money and dumpster diving for food. Greyson, who always loved Liam and was a skinny math nerd, is now a billionaire but overworked, lonely and extremely unhappy. Their story of rediscovering each other, renovating the mansion, falling in love and overcoming so many forms of diversity and prejudice (not to mention an evil villain), is a joy to read and hot as Hades as well. I hate to admit, this is the only book I've read in this series but intend to read the other 5. I highly recommend this book by a (New to me) extremely talented author.

This was an good book in this series and I love that West has finally gotten a proofreader of some sort, because the errors are way down. That’s pretty important to me. I was a little unnerved by the way Grayson flooded Liam with material stuff. I felt like Grayson was trying to impress Liam with his wealth, and to be honest, it still felt a bit like that at the end after the epilogue, I think, where Grayson ruminates on how he got to where he is. I never quite felt like Grayson was showing Liam his emotions over material gifts. There were glimpses of it, but they seemed overwhelmed by the gifts. I also felt as if we didn’t get shown too much of why Grayson loves Liam, just reassurances that he does. More of a look at how life has changed the two men so that they can have a mature relationship over a boys’ love would have been helpful. That is one reason why it seemed that Grayson was trying to win Liam with gifts. It’s a very immature reaction to a love interest. Otherwise, this was a sweet story.

I enjoyed this book. Little angst. Lots of hotness. The story is a!most completely about Grayson and Liam. We only see the other guys of the series in little visits. I love the little twists at the end. Made me smile

I have read them all and have loved each one. I absolutely love the fact that these are all different. This is no formula-like storytelling.
I would love to get to know these people as they each seem real and genuine.
    Please, please continue.

I really enjoyed this story about second chances, childhood friends to lovers. Grayson is amazing so full of love for Liam and so giving. As we get to know Liam, he is also incredible considering all he has been through growing up in foster care and never getting a break. Loved seeing them fight for their love.

4.5 stars for this review. I have got to say that I do love me a bit of M/M action and this story is no different. I’m loving the Bridge to Abingdon series and all the men in the series. Gold Digger is a second chance story with two amazing men Grey and Liam and a big dog and well you’ve won me.
  • Wide Eyes, Big Ears!
    4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet rag-to-riches / second-chances romance!
Reviewed in Australia on December 30, 2023
Teen sweethearts Grayson Ellis and Liam Gold lose touch at the end of high school when Liam gets a football scholarship and is drafted into the big leagues. Meanwhile, Grayson creates a fabulously successful tech company. A massive injury cuts Liam’s sporting career short, putting paid to his fame and fortune and these days his only companion is his faithful dog, Beau. When Grayson eventually tracks Liam down in Abingdon, the difference in their financial and social status is huge, but Grayson wants to help Liam out. Pretty soon the rumour mill is calling Liam a gold digger and Grayson’s secretly negotiated merger is put in jeopardy.

I liked most things about this second-chances / rags-to-riches romance, especially Liam’s continually decent personality. Liam, on the other hand, felt a little unreal - he was an amazingly successful businessman and yet he seemed naive about how Liam would be perceived by others and oblivious to the power imbalance between him and Liam. He seemed to think money would just solve everything. The roadblocks in the story were legitimately important but each got solved pretty easily and I felt that a longer story could have added some depth to the solutions. After five audios, I’m resigned to Alexander Cendese (as Liam) and Tor Thom (as Grayson) as the narrators. I still don’t think they’re a natural fit but I’m used to the pairing now (most of the series is currently free on the Audible Plus catalogue).

High school best friends, who would have liked to be more back then. Life happenings separated them, both geographically and On the financial side of life, but the feels the have always had for each other never went away. The way they get together again, after about a decade, is full of doubts, interfering acquaintances, and meddlers, but the HEA is so much fun.
