- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2020I found this to be a very well written book for amateur radio operators of all classes and in all countries
I live in the United States and hold a technician class license
And found many useful tips
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2021Excellent book, very enjoyable and informative. The author comes across as a very nice person and the information he shares can be put to good use. I will recommend. Thank you.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2018I am a Philosopher (BA) from University of London and a new ham, VR2YUM. I therefore have much in common with the author. I think Lucien has gone some way to making a useful reference for new hams. I echo his feelings on pretty much all issues. I would have said this book was very much a work in progress and could have been a really useful tome, had he spent a little more time and added pictures and drawings of some of his first builds and mistakes. Soldering a PL59 is a good example, as is building a magnetic loop antenna. There was some good advice here but I feel you should write a second edition and really rethink the content focus and add some pictures. Maybe a chapter for would-be hams studying for their exams and tips on Dxing fpr those of us in Asia with precious few QSO opportunities. Keep up the good work Lucien. 73, VR2YUM.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2018Very nice read for new hams. Nothing strident, argumentative, or know-it-all. Great suggestions for living the spirit of a ham that more people should follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice readable book
Some nice insights into behaviour and how it relates to the amateur radio operator.
A pleasant read, most people will recognise at least some of their own foibles and get some tips along the way

Schafft Balance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wise advice.
Half the price of a radio magazine and 10 times as interesting. As long as you don't know it all. ;) Good for some humble reflection about why we do this hobby.
