Hard Hart: A Hart's Bay Novel (Hart’s Bay Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 624 ratings

“I felt wrong until I met you.”

Jesse is rebuilding his life. He’s ditched his no-good ex, sworn off men, moved to a new town with his four best friends, and started the pottery business of his dreams. And then he slept with his hunky new neighbor. Oops.

Trouble just blew into town. Finn Hart knows that building a life with Jesse will reignite tensions in a town founded by one Hart, and slowly being strangled by another—Finn’s grandfather. The construction foreman just can’t stay away.

Saving Hart’s Bay begins with encouraging tourism. Opening Jesse’s new art gallery would be a great start, but not everyone wants change. Can Finn and Jesse’s love wash away twenty years of bad blood and bring a new dawn for everyone?

Hard Hart is the first book in the Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of seaside lovers and nosy but well-meaning neighbors. It can be read on its own, and promises a happily-ever-after ending and plenty of smiles and steam along the way. If that cove could talk… oh boy, has it ever seen things.

About the Author

E. Davies grew up moving constantly, which taught him what people have in common, the ways relationships are formed, and the dangers of "miscellaneous" boxes. As a young gay author, Ed prefers to tell feel-good stories that are brimming with hope. He writes full-time, goes on long nature walks, tries to fill his passport, drinks piña coladas on the beach, flees from cute guys, coos over fuzzy animals (especially bees), and is liable to tilt his head and click his tongue if you don't use your turn signal. WOW what a start to a new series.
Ed you have outdone yourself with the first book in the Hart's Bay series. I loved it. Jesse and his best friends decided to move to Harts Bay for all different reasons - Jesse is a cheating ex boyfriend. Finn has lived in Hart's Bay all his life as it is his family's legacy and his family is split into 2 due the the other side of the family being homophobic. The truly amazing thing about this book is the perfect love story between Jesse and Finn. Congratulations Ed on an amazing book. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

Hard Hart is the first book in the Hart's Bay series by E. Davies. I loved the new world that the author has made. Hart's Bay is a small town and as such everybody knows everybody's business and secrets. They also know about the animosity between the small towns founding family. The Harts. Finn is a Hart, but he's on the side that wants the town to grow and prosper. His grandfather, on the other hand, wants the town to stay as it is and continue to neglect all of the buildings that he owns. Jesse and his friends need a change and so they decided to move to Hart's Bay. Jesse and his friends are artists and want to start a gallery where everyone can display and sell their art. But in order to do that they have to find out who owns the empty buildings and convince them to let them either rent or buy the property. Jesse and Fin meet at the only bad in town, which is only open when the owner feels like opening it. They have instant chemistry. They start a friend's with benefits relationship cause Jesse is supposed to be taking a break from relationships after what happened with his ex and Fin's never had a relationship, preferring one-night stands. Fin wants to help make the town prosper again but he doesn't want to hurt the truce between the members of the Hart family. But when Fin finds out what started the animosity, he knows that at some point he's going to have to take a stand. I can't wait for the next book to see who pairs up next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

A coastal town, two guys who couldn't be more different physically and some hidden, dark secrets makes a good read. I loved the chemistry between Jesse and Finn, I didn't like that there was no (good enough) explanation why or how the family feud started. The drama building was great but the solution fizzled out a bit, and how does the rest of the township deal with one man bringing the town down instead of reinventing it? Glad that Jesse and his friends Aaron, Ezra, Beau and Ross moved to Hart's Bay and woke it up and rescued it from the clutches of a man, who rather let everything fall into disrepair than embrace the 21st century with its diversity. Still wondering where the rest of the township people come into this?

I've loved all of Ed's books that I've read, especially his F-Word Series. This book is just as amazing as all his other books. Jesse is a sweet, creative guy who's feeling vulnerable while Finn is a kind, caring man who needs reassurance that he's more than just a Hart. Together, they fumble and fall into a relationship and it's spectacular.
If you're into low angst (and who doesn't just want an escape now and then), then you need to read this. I love stories where the main characters TALK to each other and not assume and speculate. Life has too many obstacles to throw at us to create our own by holding things in.
Bravo, Mr. Davies! You've done it again!

It’s was a sappy love story with no real plot. I mean it was bad, but it wasn’t the best either. The sex scenes were a bit ridiculous to me.

Wow, what a great start of this new series! I love the world E . Davies is building around the Hart family and Hart's Bay, the very likeable characters and great story line. If you like the other series (like the Riley Brothers), be sure to give this series a try as well.

This is a low angst book with an enjoyable storyline. One thing this author is great at is keeping a book low angst while keeping the story interesting. It’s a fantastic start to a new series that I am really looking forward to. 5 guys embark on a new life in a small town and quickly get sucked into some crazy family politics. It’s sweet and it’s steamy (right from the beginning 😉). Very enjoyable read!

Jesse and Finn are really likeable characters, their journey is touch and go, bombarded by their own fears as well as outside forces. They have both been unlucky in relationships so when they meet they are only looking for some heated fun - which they get in abundance - but their chemistry is more than skin deep, leading to a great friendship and a deeper connection.
In this book you will find an intriguing storyline with a variety of interesting characters, doubts, frustrations, a crazy bunch of friends, laughs, family drama, a bit of nastiness, hope, steamy sexy times, adoring love, and a heartwarming HEA.
I would definitely recommend this book.

Very steamy, right from the beginning, but with a wonderful mix of heartfelt courage, both against personal demons and others' resistance.
Almost utopic in the upbeat optimism of acceptance in a small town, despite the inevitable dragging down of the very few unaccepting individuals.

I really enjoyed this first book of the series. A small town with a long time family feud happening. Jesse and his friends move for a new beginning. Jesse meets Finn, the attraction immediate and the chemistry sizzling, but it also lands Jesse and his friends right in the middle of the feud. It was fun and sweet, hot and sexy. The banter had me laughing out loud.
