Harvester Academy: A Ruby Morgan Prequel Kindle Edition
My name is Dennis Rivers. Two years ago, my dad was killed by a Magical. To avenge him, I decide to become a Harvester, like he was. It's not like I can fill out an application, however, as the Harvester Academy isn't even supposed to exist.
I'm not about to let that stop me. I'm a street smart Liverpool lad, and when I capture a Mag right under the nose of a Harvester crew, I manage to get myself recruited anyway.
I wasn't prepared for the ramifications of my choice. To become a Harvester recruit, I have to leave everything—and everyone—behind, including my mum and my girlfriend. There is no room for personal attachment.
There is only the Academy.

About the author

LJ Rivers is the pseudonym for a writing-duo of one older chap and one younger dame. Linn and Jørn are both from Norway, living on opposite corners of the country, so they rarely get to meet face to face. That doesn’t stop them from laughing together, crying together and creating as a team.
They started out as a team by creating the wonderful world of Ruby Morgan, an Urban Arthurian YA Fantasy series. Now, they are expanding into more Fantasy worlds, ready to entertain you with lots of spellbinding magic, twisted intrigue, exciting action, and maybe even a little bit of slow-burn romance.
They also write independently and Linn has published several books under her own and other pen names.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2020This was a good book.. Made me laugh and groan at Dennis and his adventures to become a Harvester. The beginning was interesting as we get a look at why he wants to join and his normal life in Liverpool. The characters in this book are very nicely written to both like and hate them all. It drew me in and kept me reading just to see what would happen next and what craziness was around the next corner. Of course things are not straight forward but that adds to the story. A great story that shows the Harvesters as they really are as Dennis tries to become one. It drew me in and was a bit addicting, which makes it a good story.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2020I recieved an ARC copy of Harvester Academy - A Ruby Morgan Prequel.
This is a fantastic book that introduces you to the world built around Ruby Morgan, magicals and harvesters, sending you on a trip, first through the streets of Liverpool and then finally to London as you follow Dennis on his journey to become a harvester.
To top it all off, the book takes a wonderful twist that leaves you really wanting to get stuck into the series as a whole!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2020Since reading Essence of Magic, I've fallen in love with the Ruby Morgan series by L.J. Rivers. She's a fantastic author, and you can tell she puts all her effort into everything she writes. The characters are amazing, whether they're meant to be liked or not. The detailing in her stories is always phenomenal, as is the world-building. I could see the entire thing clearly. This book is one that you can fall into and lose yourself for hours on end, which is always an amazing feeling. The twists toward the end were shocking and emotional. It took me the entire book to connect the dots, but when I finally realized it, it made so much sense. I'm so excited to read more of this series!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2020A great prequel to the series, that answers a few questions about Ruby Morgan's past while raising more! Written from her father's POV, it takes us back to the time when he entered the Harvester Academy. Out for revenge, his reasons for joining are clear, but then he discovers the Academy isn't all it seems to be.
I love this series, and this is another piece to the puzzle of Ruby Morgan's life. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2020Dennis Rivers' father was killed by a Magical, and is determined to avenge his death. Finding out that his father was a Harvester (a hunter of Magicals) turns his world upside down, and gives him hope for meeting his goal.
Unfortunately, the Harvester Academy isn't supposed to exist and now he must find a way in, while leaving everything behind. That includes his mother, his girlfriend and even his old life.
What follows is a story that reveals some of the inner workings of the Harvesters, how they train, what they believe, and the kinds of people who join their ranks.
There are some great characters in this book, and as always the authors don't disappoint in creating real relationships between them.
Can Dennis survive the Academy, and the rivalries of his peers, to become a Harvester and avenge his father?
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2020This is the answer to a lot of the questions in the main series. As a good writer LJ Rivers made some new questions along with the answers.
Well written, exciting, even though not the action packed page turner. We learn more about Ruby and the bond to our main character deepens with new deepened insight.
