His Cocky Cellist (Undue Arrogance Book 2) Kindle Edition
One night. One contract. One kiss, and Victor Newcomb will never be the same.
By age 24, Vic has accomplished more than most men achieve in a lifetime. Since childhood he's tried to be the perfect son, the perfect executive, the perfect heir—and as next in line for the throne of his father's multibillion dollar textile empire, he's made his life entirely about discipline and control.
But he doesn't know what discipline truly means—until he meets Amani Idrissi.
University student. Part-time masseuse. Cello virtuoso. The serene, reserved Moroccan American femme fascinates Vic with his cool allure, changing everything Vic thought he knew about power, about control, about himself. Yet when cello lessons turn into a business deal of an entirely different nature, Vic quickly realizes he'll pay anything for the chance to see Amani again.
To submit to his will. To discover the complete and utter freedom in giving up control.
But the deeper Vic falls headlong into love, the more he realizes he doesn't know Amani at all. Secretive, withdrawn, Amani seems determined to keep their relationship strictly business. Even if Vic can see the quiet hurts, the old wounds hiding behind those dark, enticing eyes...
How far will he have to go, to win the love of his cocky cellist?

About the author

Cole McCade is a New Orleans-born Southern boy without the Southern accent, currently residing somewhere in Seattle. He spends his days as a suit-and-tie corporate consultant and business writer, and his nights writing contemporary romance and erotica that flirt with the edge of taboo—when he’s not being tackled by two hyperactive cats.
He also writes genre-bending science fiction and fantasy tinged with a touch of horror and flavored by the influences of his multiethnic, multicultural, multilingual background as Xen. He wavers between calling himself bisexual and calling himself queer, but no matter what word he uses he’s a staunch advocate of LGBTQIA and POC representation and visibility in genre fiction. And while he spends more time than is healthy hiding in his writing cave instead of hanging around social media, you can generally find him in these usual haunts:

- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2018Amani and Vic couldn't be more different but the same. This book really took me deep into the human psyche and what it means to discover who you truly are as a person. Amani and Vic's journey was very deep and touched on so many levels of this. Beautifully written with a strong vocabulary that made the story flow seamlessly and helped you to visualize what the mc's looked like and their environment. They were more alike than they realized even though Amani led a modest life and Vic had more money than he knew what to do with. I think I actually liked this book more than the first even though again they were different but the same. Amani was so mature for his age and Vic was really a good guy deep down. He just needed Amani to help him figure out the man he was meant to be and Vic helped Amani overcome his fear of being judged. Lots of hot steamy sex with a twist of kink thrown in. Ash and Brand make a quick appearance in the beginning of book as Ash was Vic's roomie at Uni and recommended Amani to Vic for a massage. This was more than two people meeting and falling in love. This was two people finding their true soulmate. Loved how even though Amani was smaller he was the Master and Vic was the Sub. But make no mistake, this was not a BDSM story at all. Amani and Vic were exclusive and their dynamic only occurred in the privacy of the bedroom. This was conveyed by the author at end of the book and he did a superb job in making this a story of two culturally and ethnically different people see each other without a hint of judgement and that's why Amani fell in love with Vic. He never once questions Amani's life choices . He is just awed by his inner beauty. I can't recommend this book more highly and can't wait for Amani and Vic's follow up novella 2.5 and for Book 3. Cole McCade you are a gifted writer and I believe you see the world a lot like Amani and perhaps this book is more of a reflection of who you are as a person and you write from some life experiences. I bet it would be great to meet you and sit down just to hear your story. Vic and Amani and even Ash and Brand will stay with me long after I'm done reading. Anxiously awaiting next book. P. S. Book has HEA with an epilogue. Ahh.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018Regardless of whatever pen name he’s writing under, I know I’m in for a treat every time I pick up a book by this author. His smooth, almost lyrical style hooks me right away and the moments and characters’ emotions are described in such vivid detail that I can’t help but feel for them. That was precisely my experience with His Cocky Cellist. I was immediately pulled into the story, finding the characters complex and interesting and their romance breathtakingly beautiful. This release is the second full-length book in the Undue Arrogance series and picks up shortly after the first book closes, but it can easily be a standalone.
His Cocky Cellist isn’t simply labeled as an opposites attract romance. Vic and Amani were a study in opposites and it was evident on every page and woven into every interaction. I loved how the author contrasted their experiences, personalities, and approaches to life to really differentiate them. As expected, there was believable conflict stemming from these differences, especially in the first part of the book. However, it was how these men learned to take into account those differences, empathize with one another, and change their approach that really developed the connection and storyline.
The romance between Vic and Amani was a bit of a slow burn, particularly the emotional aspect of their relationship. I enjoyed seeing those feelings take hold bit by bit, as the characters admitted that this was much more than a physical relationship. That said, this series *is* known for its heat and that was undeniably strong in His Cocky Cellist. Like the first couple, this pairing enters into a D/s relationship. Although BDSM isn’t typically a trope I’d seek out, the way this novel is written makes it so much more than a kink story. If you like complex characters and romances that are more than expected from the outset, I’d definitely recommend His Cocky Cellist.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2025Stunning!!!😍 Vic and Amani are delicious together! Cole McCade writes such sensual protagonists it makes you weep! Beautifully kinky and filled with tender, brutal yearning. Vic finding out what truly lies inside himself with torturous devotion towards sexy, fierce Amani. Amani is commanding from his first words to his last. 😏Divine is not a strong enough word to describe how these two men are written! As with the first in this toe curling series, His Cocky Cellist, pulls you apart and puts you back together again differently!!!😘
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019It's been a while since I read His Cocky Valet, so I am going by my not-so-clear memory of it when I say that in tone, this book is more like Over And Over Again than HCV. It's much more poetic, as flowing as the caftans described in such detail. And I think more romantic, too, since both characters have softer edges than those in HCV.
This works as a standalone, though, so don't let my comparisons through you off if you've not read the first book.
I enjoyed watching the relationships change and develop. The BDSM was done well, in my vanilla opinion, and the sex is erotic without being either too sweet or crass.
I loved this book and these characters, so I definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing
Content warnings include: BDSM involding pain play, D/s, orgasm denial; sex on-page, chronic illness; mentions of sexual assault, bullying, racism, classism. A comprehensive list can be found in the book itself, available in the preview on amazon.
I truly enjoyed reading this. I was totally enamoured by Amani from the very beginning, which made me relate to Vic a lot. Though Vic was also a great character in his own right.
I loved the setup of the novel, especially regarding the two characters: Amani, Moroccan-American, black, Dom, femme, student, masseuse, cellist, and Vic, British-American, white, billionaire, CEO, masc, convinced he's straight and totally unawares of what else he likes in bed.
Not just their sexual dynamic was great, I also loved the conversations they had about class, as in the detachment of rich people from the life of the actual 99%. More conversations or at least side remarks about religion, racism, toxic masculinity and of course kink were also present, and I thought handled very well.
The writing was truly beautiful as well, almost poetic at times without being overbearing, but raw and emotional. I especially enjoyed the describtions of clothing, which were presented so naturally and engaging that I didn't just skim over them.
What I found curious was the age of the characters. Amani is 20 and Vic is 24, and I found it fascinating to see their life and their personal experiences at an age I can immediately relate to and compare, yet which were so fundamentally different from my own. For some reason, I was more aware of this in this book than any others I've read recently.
The one thing I would have wished for was more glimpses into the characters' lives around their relationship and how those two things impact each other. Maybe this would have distracted from the actual plot, but I liked reading about Amani and Vic so much that I just wanted to know more about their day to day life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another beautiful, thoughtful work by Cole McCade
I reac the first Undue Arrogance book because of Cockygate and I was expecting something pretty average as I'd never read anything by Cole McCade before. I was definitely not expecting to fibd a new favourite author, one who puts so much care and thought into his work, who writes beautiful, complex stories that not only engage readers but also do a wonderful job of balancing story with politics and social activism.
This story is another impressive effort. I loved the characters and the delicate humour and all the little touches that make up the whole. I don't like going into story content in my reviews, it's nicer to just experience the whole. So do it, I promise you won't regret it.
If you only read one new author this year, read a story by Cole McCade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making beautiful music together
4.5* for me.
The first book I read by this author was the first in this series, My Cocky Valet. Because I enjoyed it so much I then went on and bought more of his books, written both as Cole McCade and Xen. I had a look too at the Criminal Intentions series but at the time couldn't seem to get into them, will possibly have another look later on.
Having become more familiar with CM's writing style, I think this book is more of a labour of love than the first. It has a slower feel and a deeper, more emotional theme running through it.
The synopsis explains all you really need to know about the storyline. Vic and Amani are both strong, likeable characters who have their own issues and differences, but who go together so well. With the beautiful poetic writing this makes a heartfelt and thoughtful read.
I liked the book. I think that there are quite a few differences between this and His Cocky Valet. If you haven't read anything else by this author this may feel heavier, partly because of the circumstances around why that one was written. Even so, I would recommend anyone to jump in and immerse yourself as it is very easy to get caught up their world.
Happy reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Character Driven
Mesmerizing, watching how this dynamic and relationship unfolds and evolves. Really enjoyed both these characters and their newly discovered connection. Amani is captivating. Vic a little too good to be true, but this is a fairy tale and I let myself sink in and be absorbed by the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfection?
This is probably as close to perfection I could ever realize.
Amani was such a perfect character and Vic was so fascinating to read about.
And damn, it was hot.
