- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2024This story had some of my favorite tropes!!! I love reading books about finding love after loss and then to be an age gap as well just made my heart happy!! This two together were so so good!! Loved it start to finish!! Can’t wait to read Cris’ story!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2018I read this book with out reading the first one in the series and was a little lost regarding a lot of the side characters but didn’t distract me too much from the overall story. I’m generally not a fan of “installer” storylines but that’s just a preference. I really liked the chemistry between Michael and Teo and I enjoyed how Michael jumped head first into a relationship with another man. I’m definitely going to go back and read Tristan and Nathaniel’s story because the plot line seems very interesting
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2018I enjoyed every page of this wonderful book. After reading Nate and He is in the first one I've been looking forward to Teo getting his HE A. And does he ever.
It begins with an hilarious mistaken identity error when Teo is at his sisters ultrasound and Dr.DoMe thinks he's the husband!! Sparks fly between Teo and Michael but both think the other is married.
An angsty week passes and Teo is at his complaining\charity event when in walks Michael and his youngest ,Marlowe. She is a superfan of Teos'books and is thrilled that her Dad knows him upping his cool Dad factor exponentially. She makes friends with Emma and Samantha immediately and has an awesome time.
The guys spend the day together at Nate and Tris's house and become very close.
This is a super romance even though Michael is older and has been very happily married to Sierra until her death he has had ,during college, tingles of attraction to other guys but once he saw her that was it. A similar thing happened with Teo one look and BAM. There seems to have been some confusion about the names in the book. As an author Teo uses pen names ,both Julian and Benjamin, for two different kinds of books he writes.
This is a lovely story of a family striving to fit together as smoothly as possible with a couple of hiccups along the way. While Marlowe is Teos cheerleader and Reagan ,Michaels middle daughter who is pansexual, bonds with him too the eldest son is not a fan. There are some nail biters that I'm not gonna reveal but you will love them. Mama is the one we all need to take home and the rest of this family of the heart is wonderful. So in all a fantastic read. The next one is going to begin, I think, with a sad story so get the tissues out but they're all sticking together to battle all comers.
I LOVED IT !!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💟💟
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2019I loved this story. It was just as great as the first book. This is the second book in the Stories of Us series and it takes place a few months after the end of A Family For Keeps. This one focuses on Teo and his non-existent love life. He meets a doctor who turns out not to be as straight as Teo thinks he is, and the tow fall in love rather quickly. Though the face homophobic hate from in-laws and the anger of a teenage boy who's opinion is being poisoned by hate, they manage to overcome it all. If you liked A Family For Keeps, then you'll love His Instant Family.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2018The thing that didn’t quite work for me was the amount of exposition. Rather that discovery through events and dialogue, a lot was explained and laid out for the reader. I like uncovering layers as you go. And everyone seemed a little too perfect. I appreciate the clean editing. This is my first book by this author, and I’m planning to read Cris’ story.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2024I really enjoyed most of this book 1-37a bit heavy on the decanter that in a couple chapters just isn't what I care for being my age but the whole following of book one well done. I enjoy books who have a family sticking together blended or other wise.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2022I love this series and this book is my favorite. Teo and Michael shared an instant attraction and connection. I loved how Michael was so accepting of his attraction to Teo, despite having believed himself to be straight. They had some challenges to overcome regarding Michael's children but never allowed them to cause them to question their feelings for each other or their relationship. This was a beautiful love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2022OMG. I absolutely loved the first book and it just gets better with this one. I love second chance love 💘 the family dynamics between friends and even the drama that comes with blending family. It's real life at its best and worst . I can't wait for the next book. Keep it coming.
