- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2019What a GREAT story set in the Supercross world. I love ANY kind of racing. From motorcycles to cars, racing is sexy on its own. This is a beautiful story of a racer meeting his match in a mechanic. Davey is a star Supercross racer. He's gay but in this type of sport it's not talked about. When he finds Tyler naked in his bed, he didn't hesitate. Tyler is the mechanic on a rival competitors team. This story shows that it's still not acceptable to be gay in sports. Any sport. The danger, the uncertainty, the abuse, the threats. It's still alive and well in the sports world. Lynn Michaels did a MAGNIFICENT job defining the Supercross racing world. There are sooo many wonderful characters in this story. I can't wait to see who the next story is about. She has tapped into a sport I really relate to. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2019Davey is a top motocross racer. Tyler is a young, up and coming motocross mechanic who got his shot with another top team. Neither are out in the circuit, but when Tyler's buddies prank him by leaving him to sleep off his 21st birthday celebration in rival rider Davey's RV, sparks fly and their story begins.
If I hadn't been so drawn in by their story, I may have stopped reading fairly early on in this book, for multiple reasons. I was really put off by the unnecessary subplot with a predatory lesbian. The paragraphs from Angel's point of view seemed for the most part superfluous, but if they were going to be included, it would have been nice to use them to learn more about Angel herself. Instead Angel's character remains undeveloped except as a device to explore another perspective on Davey and Tyler.
Tyler's relationship with his mom might not have always been particularly close, but she and her boyfriend seemed extremely supportive when Tyler brought Davey home for Christmas. So why are they never mentioned again, especially when Tyler and Davey are outed? And being threatened?
There are multiple your/you're errors, and others like "Avant guard" for avant garde, and the mystifying "Steward" for Stewart (A character whose name appears 250 times!) This book was published in 2015 and I read it in 2019, so I have little patience for glaring errors that could have long been corrected. I enjoyed the story (Darla storyline excepted) so I give it 3.5/5 stars, rounded to 4 for review purposes
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017This book hooked me from the beginning. When Davey walked into his trailer and found Tyler in his bed, their relationship exploded and they quickly grew addicted to one another. But the problem: They are in a sport where gay men aren't easily accepted and worried about their jobs; Tyler as a mechanic and Davey as a top rated rider. While they realize that their relationship is important and agree to keep it quiet, they are outed and an entirely new set of problems emerge.
I loved the relationship between Davey and Tyler. There is some jealousy, some issues that come about, but together, they are spectacular. Davey is so sweet, a complete fixer who just wants to make Tyler happy and Tyler loves Davey wholeheartedly and wants everything good for Davey. I couldn't get enough of the two and I can't wait for the next one. This is a must-read!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2015I actually had to look holeshot up! Gotta say, in my head that was all kinds of sexy and dirty. I like it better there (≧◡≦)
Meet Davey, the holeshot of the piece. Young, dedicated, hot and crushing on one of his rival’s mechanics. Hard.
The mechanic in question is hardworking, sweet, beautiful Ty.
They are both young and it shows. At every turn.
They can barely contain what they are feeling for the other after one night together. Everything moves at a fast pace and anything happening that’s got to do with them and their being together feels huge, a turning point. Both the good and the bad. The bad though, the bad feels like nothing would ever be good again.
It reminds me of my first love a bit. The urgency, the anticipation, the over the top drama… so much fun (*'▽`*) But I was 14 at the time. They are around 21 and somehow it feels like they shouldn’t be that… childish.
It was a decent read but most likely just the one time for me. They are adorable and all that but again, way too childish and closing on annoying at times (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄) I couldn’t connect with them, with their story. I read it but I didn’t really care what happened next.
You know what happened next. You know this ends well for Davey and Ty.
It was a nice ride.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016This novel by Lynn Michaels excelled my personal expectations! after having only read two novels previously by Lynn I knew she was extremely talented but I had my doubts about this particular topic. I have read over a dozen books about supercross and motocross racers in the past, and they all seemed so cookie cutter. Almost like one person wrote a story and then sent it on for someone else to reuse. Holeshot, however, did not fit this style. It was beyond refreshing to see something new and invigorating!
I loved the chemistery portrayed between Davey and Tyler, and how she showed the struggles that xtreeme athletes have to endure to do what they love without making it into an angsty drama.
Very well written and extremely fun to read! I highly suggest this book to everyone! Go get your copy now, you won't regret it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2019Davey and Tyler hit it off at first sight. They are attracted to each other and give each other something that they have been missing. I enjoyed reading their story. How they try to go from secret lovers to friends to better secret lovers. They both have to figure out how to balance their work and personal life without everything crumbling all around them.
I liked how the story progressed and ended. The guys are pretty great together. They and their racing family hold on strong to each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting read
Even if you don't understand Moter bikes or sport this is a really tender love story set deep in this fast moving sport . Had to read it twice

5.0 out of 5 stars The HoleShot
After reading this oh, so sweet love story, I needed a couple of days to ponder over what to write. Lynn Michaels combined a loving & tender story between Davey McAllister and Tyler Whitmore whilst tackling the ugly side of humanity. Dealing with homophobic and ignorant people, really makes you sit back and appreciate what a lot of gays have to deal with on a daily basis. The HoleShot was exciting, sexy with a loving family created from their racing team. I had no clue about Motor Cross racing, but truly delighted to read all about it. Davey and Tyler are so young, Soto find your true soulmate was beautiful. I’d highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stick With It - A Really Good Story.
I spent quite a while thinking how to write a positive review for a book I didn't really love but which essentially had nothing wrong with it. And then it all started happening, so it turns out I really did enjoy this book after all. So, here's my review...
Starts off a bit slow but turns into a very enjoyable read within quite a unique environment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Missed the target
The sex is well done, but the story is predictable - no surprises. But it's feel good, so I enjoyed it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me
Ok read a review that said "stay with it" I did. And it wasn't great. It was predictable and I found myself flicking through the pages. And I still knew what was going on. I'm sorry this just wasn't for me, I like a bit more depth
