The Charming Yet Clueless Professor

The Irish Mob Killers
Rowen, Cillian, Aspen, and Fallon work for the Killough Company, the Irish mob that controls the Eastern Seaboard of the US. They go to one of Dr. Mifflin’s lectures to hear a few stories about the old-timers. That day, the men save Dr. Mifflin from an Italian mafioso, who didn’t like the things Dr. Mifflin lectured about. With this one unintended kind act, these killers become entangled in Vail’s life.

Death and Danger in Unexpected Places
As the band of killers get to know Vail, they realize that instead of focusing on the history of the mob, he’s trying to write an up-to-date account. Normally they would murder a man who planned to divulge their secrets, but it’s clear Vail doesn’t truly understand the danger he’s in. Their only choice to keep him alive is to protect him and convince him to stop. Vail struggles with ADHD and is reluctant to let go of his career, the one thing he feels he is good at. Unfortunately word is already out that Vail knows things he shouldn’t, and keeping him safe won’t be simple.

How Did You Survive Without Us? ends on a small cliffhanger for Vail, but the next book is already written, so you won’t have to wait to find out what happens next!

    I loved the premise of the story! The characters grow on you, Dr. Vail Mifflin and his four mafia men and by the end, I was rooting for them. I know this is just the first in the series but I couldn't put it down. Real life got in the way for a few hours or so but I was so excited to continue that I took advantage every chance I got. This was steamy, sweet, and satisfied my craving for a series at the right time. I switched between listening and reading and the narration just blew my mind! Fantastic overall! Diving into book 2 now!

    Absolutely splendid book and it’s a joy to visit the Irish Mob once again. This time we’re delving into the personnel working for the generals and Sloan Killough.

    This first book primarily focuses on Rowen, Cillian and Vail as they navigate whatever it is they’re trying to establish - however, it’s quite clear that the two last men in this meaty sandwich are ready to roll, as well.

    Rowen and Cillian are clear opposites. Not only in looks and what they enjoy in bed, but also as personalities. They clash as only brothers can do.

    Vail is a sweetheart. Absolutely adorable and ready to take on the world - one book and research at a time. However, his research does come back and bite him in the butt and now he has to navigate a darker world, he has only studied beforehand.

    And PLEASE, tell me Lorcan (that adorable little guy) is getting his HEA, as well. Another absolutely adorable character.

    This is the first book of a duo, so don’t expect a HEA or closure by the end - it quite clearly leads up to the second book, which should be published very soon.

    Why 4 and not 5 stars? Throughout the whole book I kept thinking this was definitely a 5-star rating. However, passages in the book, some dialogue between the characters and some secrets revealed bumped it down - and only to a 4,5, because the book is still absolutely splendid.

    I've been waiting to start this series ever since I came across the pre-order! And it did not disappoint. Vail is a doctor/professor with ADHD, and is the sweetest cinnamon roll you've ever read. He teaches a lot about organizational crime—aka, the mob—and it's because of this that he lands himself in a bunch of trouble because he's trying to write a book about current mobs. Rowen, part of the Killough Company—an Irish mob—takes an interest in Vail when he visits one of the doctor/professor's lectures. Then comes in Cillian, the grumpy, growly one of the group, and well, let's say things get real steamy in this book. Which is the best! I love steam. So far, there's only been sex scenes between Vail, Rowen, and Cillian, but this book makes it clear that the other mob members who live with Rowen and Cillian—Fallon and Aspen—will be part of Vail's harem. I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and planned out. The plot didn't sound far fetched, and I thought the relationships between the MCs progressed naturally. I loved how each character truly had their individual personality. Sometimes with multiple MCs, I feel like they start to all sound the same. But not this book. I'm looking forward to the next one!

    The characters in this book are great. Dr. Vail Mifflin is a historian specializing in the Mob. He starts to write a book about the mob, which upsets a lot of people. Vail has ADHD which causes his brain to be jammed with so many thoughts that he often loses track, resulting in disjointed conversations and frequently missed appointments. His attentive teaching assistant Lor helps Vail keep his schedule straight. After one lecture, Vail is invited to a bar by Irish-accented Rowen who shows interest in both the lecture and the lecturer. At the bar, an Italian who was also at the bar stalks Vail and assaults him. This leads Vail to be rescued by Rowan's volatile brother Cillian who is also Irish. Bruised and beaten, Vail becomes romantically linked with both brothers. Yes, at the same time. Book 1 is a wild ride that demands the reader flip to Book 2 to complete the tale. Enjoy!

His s*x drive is admirable and I love how Rowen and Cillian are such opposites and yet are perfect for Vail. I can’t wait to hear more about Aspen because I know the quiet man must have some depth to him. My heart broke for Vail several times throughout the book and I just wanted to hug him so hard! The ending….UGH!! It’s a cliffhanger and I screamed because I wasn’t ready for it to end just yet!!! Can’t wait!!

    There’s everything to love about this book! Four Irish mobsters in NYC, they stumble upon Doctor Vail Mifflin, a ADHD lecturer at the university who specializes in the history of mobs.
    Sparks fly immediately and soon Vail gets involved with Rowen and Cillian, though Fallon and Aspen, watching from the side lines, have clearly expressed their interest, too.
    The book is hot as sin, the narration wonderful with a swoony Irish accent and the book is absolutely enjoyable!
    It ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, but I’m not too upset about it, as book 2 is already out and I’m already onto it!

    I’m glad that the next book to this is coming out really soon because this one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Other than that I adored this book from the title onwards. The cute and smart but clueless Dr. Mifflin has now taken over the title of my favorite character in this story world. I don’t know about you but I have friends that are exactly like this. Well minus the connection to the mob. I love the way that he affects all of these tough guys so that they not only feel like they need to protect him, but fall for him as well. The usual terrific writing is very evident and if you can’t tell I highly recommend this book. Enjoy
