    CHS is one of my go to kU authors and I also try to read her books as soon as they become available. This one is a romance with an end of the world, kinda end if the world, background story. Don't go into this thinking its the other way around because you will be sorely mistaken and not enjoy the book for what it is.
    Andi becomes Prime Minister after a drug begins poisoning the masses turning them into violent "zombies" ( use that term lightly as they are not actually dead per se) and all acting power heads ahead of her are killed. He head of security Ren Dyer and her second Jeremy something are all that is keeping Andi and two other foreign dignitaries alive. The journey is a good one with unexpected encounters, unexpected loves, and yes even unexpected heartaches. Its a fun journey to take and I look forward to the next installment in the groups, especially Ren and Andi's, adventure.

    There are a few things I enjoyed while reading this book:
    🥀This story is really easy to follow and nicely paced; I almost like that all the characters are likable..
    🥀I like how it’s them for the world and it’s future and not against it. They want to rebuild what once was and keep their humanity.
    Maybe that’s what the people responsible for The Cleanse wanted to destroy our humanity. What the group is doing makes them so brave. Human.
    🥀I opened this expecting everyone to die and for there to be a lonely and unhappy ending but that’s what’s great about this story that you have no control over what happens in the world but it’s about what you do about it. That was really refreshing read.
    I can’t wait to read what happens next....

    There is so much that I loved about this book. First the title. In Dyer Need: The First Chapter which clearly indicates an intent of this story continuing. Which once I fell in love with Ren and Andrea, made me excited to know. Next was the story itself and how it was developing. Unfortunately in the world we live in today this story could be a reality. So knowing that, I was able to get caught up in it and the characters each becoming an important part of the story unraveling. This is a must read! I do not want to give any part of the story away so as not to mislead the reader. Claire Highton- Stevenson has done it again and I can not wait for the next installment.
