In My Wake: A Breathtaking Psychological Thriller With a Killer Twist Kindle Edition
Decades ago, the disturbing disappearance of an eleven-year-old girl shook the tiny village Hannah grew up in. Now Hannah receives the shock of her life when she is told her sister, April, has committed suicide. Distraught, she returns to her childhood home for the funeral.
But someone who refuses to forget the past has sickening shocks in store for the grieving family and soon latch onto Hannah instead, leaving her looking over her shoulder at every turn.
Now the nightmares aren't only inside Hannah's head ...
The close-knit community is rattled as devastating secrets and unspeakable truths are shaken up and it seems everyone has a secret to hide ...
Hannah feels her grip on reality slipping as she starts to suspect even those closest to her - including her husband Will. April had uttered words of warning against him, but was it merely jealousy? Or does Hannah truly have something to fear from the father of her child?
Could the danger be closer to home than she realises?
And why is Hannah’s own father insisting that the past should remain in the past?
In My Wake is one of the most unputdownable psychological thriller books about a woman forced to confront her devastating past. Fans of K.L. Slater, Shalini Boland, Laura Marshall and The Silent Patient will love the shocking twists and unexpected revelations.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2023I've come to rely on Ruth harrows good books as something I can rely on. The characters are 3 dimensional, the action is taut, the dialog believable. The only drawback in this story is the main character s style of parenting. Way too strict and exclusive...trust no one. And then when hubby leaves,no reason is given to the 12 year old. She deserves to know the truth and her mother plays God.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2023This novel is well written, albeit a little slow in the pacing. The author created a realistic world that is easy to believe in. She let herself down in the climax, which feels staged and doesn’t ring true. Having said this, there is enough right in the story for me to read more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020This story was interesting in that it showed that an event in the past can have a great bearing on the future. I didn't care for the main character; she was extremely annoying, but blind as well. Ok ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2022Was a little slow going and had to pay attention to understand what was going on but Still was unable to put down . Always wanting to continue to find out more of the puzzle of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2020I chose to read the book as I liked the picture and found the blurb interesting. This story is a slow burner and that meant that the intrigue and anticipation was able to build up at a nice steady pace. I liked the characters and thought the author did a good job describing them, giving them more depth as the book went on.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2022This is a must read book! The author Ruth Harrow has done it again. It's about keeping secrets that no child should EVER have to know, nor experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2022Read it in one nite, couldn't put it down. Except that she kept saying when she was 11 her sister was 16, that they were 4 years apart, it held my attention completely.

4.0 out of 5 stars In My Wake
I cant decide if i liked or disliked this story. It was an easy enough read, flowed well but the lead character Hannah started to irritate me. i was also sick of the expression ‘chewing the inside of my cheek’ It was mentioned too many times - alot of authors have a habit of overusing expressions like this or ‘picking the skin at the side of my nail’. I was also trying to understand why Hannah was so dismissive/intolerant of her grieving mum referring to her like some drama queen who has conspiracy theories about her daughters apparent suicide, well i know im sure as hell going to search for answers if my child was presumed dead than to just take it on the cheek.
then Hannah’s daughter goes to a birthday party in the afternoon in the same village and Hannah kicks off/causing a scene. I thought oh its ok for Hannah to show emotion/react but not for her grieving mother.
Lastly, i felt like Hannah’s dad showed more response/emotion to the death of the old guy in the village than he did to his own daughters mystery death - they were all going on little jollies/day trips around the village as if they were on a holiday. Lol
Nonetheless ive given this 4 stars…..

2.0 out of 5 stars if you like a surprise reveal in your books, skip this one
Frustrating to have a main character who is so dense! why does it take her decades to figure out what I - and I'm sure most readers - figured out so early on in the story. Why would she marry a guy after knowing firsthand what happened when they were younger? What happened to Paige I thought was pretty obvious and I don't feel the author wrapped it and presented it to the reader very well. It was rushed and unsatisfactory.
