Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she became a writer. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds – something that influences her writing.

Her trademark is writing deeply emotional, closed-door romances, often with international settings and/or multicultural couples. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life. Apart from her contemporary and paranormal romance novels, she has co-written a romantic suspense book series with Mike Wells.

What Devika loves most about being an author is creating new worlds and sending her protagonists on a journey with ups and downs that leaves them changed. When she’s not writing, she’s reading or thinking about writing, eating too much chocolate, taking nature photographs, and playing with her cat and dogs.

    This is ultimately a story of great friends, new loves, and enduring feelings.

    The life of an actor is never easy, even if he is very good at his job. In fact, when Colby reaches movie star ranking, his life changes dramatically, but not in a good way. Upon discovering his actress girlfriend is planning to dump him for a bigger bad-boy actor, Colby heads to Canada to deal with a more serious loss: his sister’s death by a drunk.
    There he meets Hope. At first, a relationship looks doubtful, since Colby wants nothing to do with anyone. However, despite his grumpy behavior, Hope tries her hardest to civilize him. And slowly civility turns into love.
    Unfortunately, the moment a paparazzi shows up taking pictures, Colby goes a bit crazed and blames Hope hired the paparazzi, breaking their love apart. Colby returns to his world, and Hope returns to hers.
    Will time allow them to mend the pains of each and allow them a second chance for love, or will they give up?
    Read it and find out!
    What I truly loved about this story was that it was never rushed. True love has its own pace, which is established beautifully by Devika Fernando.

    This book was ok. There were a few typos and a mistake that were frustrating for me as a reader. I also didn’t really like the dialogue. Though I enjoyed the idea of online friends interacting in real life.

    An enjoyable story for sure! There were a few details that bothered me as a lifelong Canadian and served as a neon reminder that the author is not Canadian. We don’t use a “Bus Halt” to catch a bus, we go to a “Bus Stop “, as do our neighbours in the USA.

    The comparison made between Banff, Alberta and Niagara Falls, Ontario was a bit off the mark. Anyone who’s been there knows that while the Falls are a wonder to behold, the city of Niagara Falls is a garish tourist trap with wax museums and casinos. Meanwhile Banff is beautiful in every direction and the touristy shops are very classy - a cut well above Niagara.

    I say that as someone who lived in an adjacent town to NF for 5 years! I’d recommend any author avoid disparaging a town, even slightly, unless they are residing there. And even then it’s asking for some angry letters!
