About the authors
R. Phoenix (code name: Raissa) has an unhealthy fascination with contrasts: light and dark, humor and pain, heroes and villains, order and chaos. She believes love can corrupt, power can redeem and that the best of intentions can cast shadows while the worst can create light. She agrees with those who say that the truth is best told through fiction — even though fiction has to make sense while reality can be utterly baffling.
Her dark paranormal books explore a world where humanity has become prey, subjugated by “supes” — vampires, werewolves, and witches — who have seized control. They range from romance to dark erotica to horror and everything in between, exploring different aspects of the Fate of the Fallen universe. She’s even published something she calls “playful dark erotica.”
Her tendency to explore dark topics isn’t limited to a supernatural world. Her contemporary romance, Too Close, deals with the difficult topic of domestic violence. She is passionate about the need for greater awareness and understanding of an issue that’s often misunderstood.
She loves chatting with readers, though she often awkwardly rambles. No matter how much she tries to keep her bad and often perverted sense of humor in check, it seems to escape at the most inconvenient moments. (Thanks, universe.) Feel free to friend Raissa on Facebook and chat or send her an email!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2020I enjoy age gap stories, Daddy/littles, and all manner of kinks, etc. This one was really sweet. Sometimes it felt that the MCs were in their own little bubble. I would have liked for them to have more outside interactions with family or friends and read more about their jobs/school. This was a very enjoyable read for me. I loved seeing Micah grow. Carter was very patient. He gave Micah such wonderful gifts. Not in the sense of buying him things, but by providing such a caring and nurturing environment. They had their ups and one very low down that made me cringe, poor Carter and Micah. Some people have no sense of boundaries. But I loved how it ended and wouldn't mind reading about Rick and Sean, or perhaps the new friend Micah made. Good story, worth the read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019I totally loved this book, it was so cute and so real. I can say it was a bit too cute but who cares?! I have a sweet tooth, so? ;)
Carter and Micah was perfect, i loved their relationship and everything they did together. The age-play was a bit slow for me, but it was good either way.
Micah was a real cutie pie, and the cover is so much him! Aww♥ And Carter, Daddy♥
I loved reading this book and i hope we get more age-play books because they are my favorite! Daddy books are the best! I love Daddies and their boys.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2025This is a great introduction into the DDlg lifestyle and the way that you and others can perceive it. Granted this is an MM take so different standards are there however the author touched on the main ones. I liked Micah’s character with his innocence but I also liked Carters character and his approach to Micah and the lifestyle that he enjoys.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2019I enjoyed the first half of the book, it wasn't amazing, but it was enjoyable enough to read. Though I would have enjoyed seeing more of how their relationship was progressing. It often seemed like a scene was being set up, and then we'd jump to a different scene, but it was fine.
Then we came upon the Big Conflict, which just felt unnecessary and cliche. Additionally, a problem I have with a lot of books like this is that it often feels like the author feels like they need to take the daddy/dom down a peg or two and also throw in a little role reversal. And while from a storytelling, and even realistic perspective I get it (though it happens in so many books it is hardly groundbreaking storytelling at this point), but I'm definitely not choosing to read a kink book just to see the kink get subverted.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2019This was unexpectedly sweet. I got that feeling from the cover but to actually read it was wonderful. I’m really not into age play, which seem to be a good place to start since the book isn’t extremely graphic on it, but it does give the reader a good introduction to what it is, why is it done and the emotional aspects of it.
I end up enjoying a book so out of my comfort zone as it can be. I didn’t loved it tough, but only because it was age play after all. What I did loved about it was Carter and Micah’s relationship. The emotional elements that get this two together was beautiful. I liked both main characters for a lot of reasons. In Carter’s case because how caring and thoughtful he was, how important it was for him that Micah was comfortable and also because, even with all the things that make him so wonderful, he wasn’t perfect. He had his own flaws and to see them was what made me like him even more. Micah was also a wonderful character. In his case I liked him because of the vulnerability in him. The inability to see how precious he was. To see how much he hesitate to accept him as he was, to understand and to give himself what he want, everything about him was so new and beautiful. See him gain confidence was a joyful experience.
It was a bit too slow paced, but other than that and the fact that age play isn’t really my thing, I had the best time reading the book. All the feelings portray felt realistic as their relationship. The possibility to understand something that I don’t generally do, was a wonderful experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2019I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I loved how open Micah was to everything, even though it was nothing he had ever considered (or heard of before). It was obvious how much he needed someone like Carter to look after him, show him the way and lead him by the hand.
And Carter was just wonderful. I loved how nothing phased him when it came to Micah's needs and desires. It didn't matter what it was, all he wanted was to be there for Micah and help him grow into a more confident person.
I have read a few Daddy/little books now and this one stood out for a variety of reasons. Carter was not this all-knowing, all-confident Daddy who just took charge of his little. He made mistakes and he second-guessed himself when it came to Micah. He was as nervous as Micah in many ways. But in other ways he really was the ultimate Daddy. Another difference I really enjoyed was Micah's femme side, as a little and as himself. That is something I enjoy reading about in M/M books and this is the first time I have come across it in this particular genre.
All in all, very enjoyable and I will undoubtedly be reading this again in the future. I'm definitely going to check out other books by these authors.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2019The blurb had pulled me in and it got me intrigued enough to the softer side that R. Phoenix is trying out. It really was completely on the opposite side of what I've been used to, and I had expected it.
I really wanted to like this book more than I ended up doing, and that is mostly because of the way the story seemed clipped. It skipped from one scene to another, and at times I had to retrace my steps to see if I had flicked a page too far.
This is not an insta love story per se, but it's instant attraction and domestic bliss with self exploring and breaking out of ones shell.
It's sweet and have it's funny moments, for me a bit too sweet. I wanted a better dig under the surface to truly connect with the characters, some more details to the characters as I found it difficult to visualise them.
I would suggest it as a nice palate cleanser between something more heavy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasing balanced fiction
The authors explore the initial stages of an M2M ABDL relationship in an authentic manner. The characters are clear and believable. The strong overtone of a transgender theme both adds to the overall complexity of the characters , but also challenges the notions of M2M traditions. The action is pretty vanilla but well chosen for the scenario the characters find themselves in. A sequel would be worthy to consider.

5.0 out of 5 stars Topissime

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet
This story focuses on the very beginings of various learning curves. It's a soft, sweet rhythm of exploration, acceptance with just enough bigotry to keep from being fantastical.
An enjoyable read
