Ivy: Runaway Brides of the West - Book 17 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 93 ratings

It was her wedding day but, instead of walking down the aisle, she was running for the train
Ivy Russell had bigger plans for her life than what her mother wanted for her. She had no desire to marry the man from the neighboring farm, a man her father's age. Unable to convince her mother to stop the forced marriage, she had one option, and that was to disappear. But running away in a wedding dress was not the best way to go unnoticed.

Rainier Armstrong Jr. was surrounded by socialites begging for his attention and his hand in marriage, but he had no interest in their narrow-minded ways or in his mother's attempts at pushing him to choose within his standards. He was content to remain single and run the businesses his grandparents had left him, until his parents reminded him that his grandfather’s only request for the inheritance he received was that he marry soon and carry on the family name

Can their need to marry be what saves them or will being on the run end them?

This book is fast paced and quite humorous at times. Ivy runs away from her wedding to become a mail order bride to Rainier, a wealthy young man whose mother wants him to marry a socialite. She didn’t know she would have to run all the way to the ocean with her parents and his mother chasing them to try and prevent the marriage from happening. Will Ivy and Rainier succeed in marrying one another; or will Ivy have to marry the neighbor who is her mother’s age and Rainier marry a socialite?

This is a mail order bride and a runaway bride tale in one. Ivy is being pledged to marry a neighbor man and she refuses to do so. She runs to the man she has been writing to for a while now. Each set of parents are now hunting for their offspring to stop their wedding and make them go back with their parents. This is a fun story and you will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

With family members hot on their trail. Ivy and Raleigh keep running. I enjoyed the travelogue feel of this plot as this bride and groom plus his faithful servant keeps searching for someone who can marry them. Fun scenarios and likable characters.

It was supposed to be a mail order wedding, but their families had their own ideas for these two to marry, and that did not include to each other. Their mothers were determined to stop their marriage at any cost.
