Twisted Justice: A gripping hard boiled crime thriller (DI Karen Heath Crime Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 929 ratings

Three brutal murders. One savage killer. A detective racing against time.

When a Filipino nurse is savagely beaten to death on his way home from work, his heart ripped from his chest, DI Karen Heath is faced with a crime of unimaginable brutality. But this is just the beginning of a killing spree that will shock even the most hardened detective.

As more bodies appear—each one mutilated in the same ritualistic manner—Karen finds herself thrust into a cat-and-mouse game with a killer who seems to be one step ahead at every turn. The victims appear random, but Karen knows better. There's a connection she's missing, a twisted motive driving these savage acts.

With her own personal life in turmoil and her sister's health deteriorating, Karen must navigate a web of forensic evidence, false leads, and police politics while the body count rises. Her investigation takes her from the busy streets of London to the historic city of York, where she teams up with the enigmatic DCI Zac Walker.

As they race to catch the killer before another victim is claimed, Karen discovers that sometimes justice itself can become twisted in the most dangerous ways.

Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza, and LJ Ross, this pulse-pounding British crime thriller combines meticulous police procedure with heart-wrenching personal stakes.

Twisted Justice is the fifth book in the gripping DI Karen Heath crime thriller series, but can be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!

I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.

In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.

Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.

Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)

Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)

I hope you enjoy the stories I craft for you.

And I only have one left in the series! I'm about to have a panic attack. This was a very intense, original plot, and a very compelling read! I tried to take it slow, but found myself not wanting to put my kindle down, (yet again)! So much has changed in DI Karen Health's life since the first book. She is such a likeable character, as are her team and the team she worked with in York! I just can't help but root for her to end up having a good life!

Another good crime story. The introduction to a new location in order to work on a case added to the storyline in a lot of ways. The interaction in an unknown team was interesting as they became familiar with each other and the differences between working to solve a crime in a London as opposed to York. Also opening the door to new relationship possibilities enhanced the story.

In “Twisted Justice” Jay writes that schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are personality disorders. Bipolar is a MOOD disorder while schizophrenia is a BRAIN disorder. That’s for starters, we may find more inaccuracy later in the novel. He would serve his readership much better by doing proper research. On the other side, his novels are very good.

I love the DI Karen Heath series and this is definitely my favorite. There were so many twists and turns to find this killer. When Karen found a similar murder in York she got permission to go there to investigate. The team there worked very differently from the London office. Possible romance and unusual offer to work there made things interesting. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.
I originally received this book as an ARC, but it was so great I had to buy it. I definitely recommend this book. You’ll love it.

Another well-written story by Jay Nadal. A real page-turner. Suspense with a touch of added romance. It only took me a day to read this book from beginning to end. I can't wait to start on Book 6.

What an incredible series. I love Karen's character. She is strong, tenacious and committed.
This was a particularly good story, if rather sad in parts, due to Karen's loss. I highly recommend this series.

The murderer watched his target leave the house, as he did every day.
Off to get the shopping, a walk round the park, then back home to his wife, whether she missed him or not, he didn't know. Her dementia was getting worse as the weeks passed. He had retired early from his psychiatric practise to care for her, but he needed more help as time passed.
The killer had entered from the rear door and waited. The confused wife confronted him, believing it was her son.
When the elderly man returned from his daily constitutional, his wife did not reply when he called out to her, then the crow bar came down forcefully on his skull, repeated blows made short work of his death.
The killer, then pulled out the knife and went for the finale.
Karen and her team are called out, as SIO she will lead the investigation.
The deeds of this person, will lead her to York for a number of days, where she works alongside Zac, the DCI in charge of MIT unit. They have two bodies murdered in a similar way, and Karen's MIT team in London will liaise with York to track down this monster.
Meanwhile Karen's disabled sister, Jane, has taken a turn for the worst and been admitted to hospital from her residential care home.
A truly engrossing traffic a as vv
