Indulge Me (Kitchen Gods Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 280 ratings

Chef Bastian Aquino is a notorious control freak. For two very long years, Kian Reynolds has worked for Bastian as his special assistant, doing whatever he and his restaurant needs. The toughest part isn’t even all the impossible tasks he expects Kian to complete flawlessly—it’s the hopeless, endless love he feels for his older boss.

Falling for someone so far above him might be agonizing, but at least his feelings aren’t unrequited. Bastian fell in love right alongside him, but at the very beginning, they made the choice to abstain for logical, smart, professional reasons.

But love isn’t logical, it isn’t smart, and it definitely isn’t professional. It defies containment, even by Bastian. While he watches Bastian struggle with their attraction, Kian finally comes to the conclusion that he’s done.

He’s done standing off to the side, done not getting any of the credit, done letting Bastian define the boundaries of their relationship. Most importantly, he’s done waiting.

Indulge Me is an 85,000 word contemporary romance, featuring an enormous amount of pining, a boss/employee relationship, an age gap and very delicious risotto. It is the fourth and final book in the Kitchen Gods series, and to receive a fuller, more enjoyable reading experience, I would recommend reading at least one other book in the series first.

This is kian and Bastian's story in the kitchen God series. For goodness sake I was not prepared for having to train my laughtermuscles. Being an outsider looking in on them characters were fun and heartwarming.
We first meets Kian when he is at school learning to make great food. Until he is coming into the Terroir kitchen, where he REALLY is learning the ropes. We follows his journey from yierning after love. he also wants to be the best chef out there. Throughout the story you will learn to know Kian and his ambitions, and his longing .. Situations are full of things that makes you smile and snorts a lot. We also see how Kian transforms on the paper from the younglings at twentyone to a grown man. We also meets Bastian the owner of the Terroir and his transformation as well.
I dont want to say so much because I dont want to spill beans. Go get this one too and read it.
Well done series by Beth Bolden and if I could I would have given her a good seven stars for this one. A series I will reread often.

This is Book 4 and the last story of the series. I listened to the audiobook. The main characters are Grumpy Chef Bastian, owner of Terrior restaurant and Kian the last of the friend who share a house in the Napa Valley and all worked or work at Terrior. Bastion is know as the bastard among the terrior worker for good reason but Kian still likes him. An Age gap and a slow burn over 2 years, these two finally get together. There are updates from Wyatt, Miles and Xander as well in this story.

This is so important, as I'm tired of characters who apparently have a personality transplant 2/3 into a book as "true love" saves them. That is not what this book does. Instead, it details the relationship that evolves between Kian and Bastian, from the wet-behind-the-ears Kian to the Kian who challenges Bastian in many ways. Bastian's controlling nature doesn't change, but he tries to use it in good ways after a monumental mistake. The dark moment doesn't feel contrived at all. Instead it's a natural progression of their professional relationship, which in turn affects their personal one. There are many levels here, and I'm going to enjoy rereading to pick them all apart. This is probably the best book I've read this year so far!

    Kian. ♥

I was smitten by him in small glances in the first books, and so looking forward to his story. The B@stard's tale is equally enticing, though for his control issues I expected significantly more kink.

Delving back to before the rest of the series and finishing it beautifully, this spans a longer time than the others. This gives more of a feel for Kian, and recaps scenes from the other books from his perspective.

An example of the writing, equally fawning over emotion and food prep:

"The contact was electric. Kian felt like he’d just been plugged into the closest outlet and then switched on high, like one of those gigantic commercial mixers that whirled away, fast as lightning, no matter how thick or goopy the dough was in their bowls."

Bastian is a renowned chef who is nicknamed, aptly, the Bastard. Kian is fresh from culinary school. Their attraction is instant and burns hot. They challenge each other both professionally and personally. When they finally give into the inevitable they bring out the best in each other until they bring out the worst.

Indulge Me is the final book in the Kitchen Gods series and it is not to be missed. Beth Bolden is a wonderful storyteller and delivers a quality, steamy love story.

Indulge Me is the fourth full length novel in the Kitchen Gods series. The stories overlap in their timelines somewhat, therefore they can be read and enjoyed as standalones. This one is no exception.
This is a light fun supersweet love story. Sometimes overly saccharine sweet and it went a bit overboard for my taste. If you enjoy your romances like that, this one is a good choice for you. The writing is solid, the story has a great flow and it is flawless, so kudos to the editing and proofreader team.
My only issue besides the supersyrupy style is that we have no real depth here. At least it didn't come out for me. We get all the right elements, emotions, conflicts but it's all quite superficial. I didn't feel the real connection between our MCs going deeper. Also some elements drove me up the wall and I was too annoyed and pissed sometimes. The ending is sweet and I wish these two all the happiness they deserve.

Beth Bolden's Kitchen Gods series makes for a very satisfying read. With each book in this series the author has given the reader an intimate view of the different characters and the challenges they face while trying to find love and happiness. This final story in the series is about the main characters, Bastian and Kian. In the previous three books we become familiar with Bastian and Kian, which is why this reader felt that this story had the most angst and anticipation throughout regarding will true love prevail. I thought it was pure genius the way that author Bolden incorporated all of the old relationships and friends from the previous books throughout the trials and tribulations this stories main characters. The end of the book is classic Beth Bolden, when Bastian says, "And I want you to meet Kian," "He's the love of my life.". Now that right there makes, Indulge Me, worth the journey.

What can I possibly say about this book....I fell in love with Bastian in the past books. I knew he was not going to be as bad as everyone made him out to be. In the previous books I found Kian to be slightly immature but I have to say that Beth Bolden turned my opinion about him completely around. I loved the journey that these two men took. I love the way the Bastian showed his true colors. You can always tell the salt of a man based on how he treats his mother and this book made me love him just that much more. I am so very sorry to see this series end but I was so very happy with the final story that Beth provided us.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Finally :-) :-)

This was one book I had been looking forward to for quite some time (almost since the first book).

It was amazing and so bittersweet.

I loves Kian, sweet man that everyone looks out for, who is as bull headed and sure of himself as the others, just in a more understated way. He was everything I was hoping for and so much more.

Bastian was the truly horribly conflicted and layered man that I expected. And I loved him very much. I just wanted to hug him all along this story.

It made me laugh, anguish for these two men, burst my heart open, made me cry and patched me back up in the most loving and beautiful way.

I am really hoping for more (Nate, or Tony or even short stories), it was that good

4.0 out of 5 stars Kian wins at all of the things

Whst what makes Beth Bolden great at characterisation is that she is able to take side characters who, seen from the outside, seem so unlikeable, and instill them heart and humanity. She is great at reminding her readers that all of us are fighting a battle and that all of us, no matter our flaws, are worthy of love.

From meeting him in the first books, 1 and 2 in particular, Kian seems naive and kind of a pushover. It was beautiful to witness his strength and common sense in this book; it was also so rewarding to have my view that Bastien would be a softy, in the end, validated.
If you haven't read this first three books, definitely read those first, otherwise you just won't get the full Beth Bolden experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars An intense romance story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 2, 2022
I knew Bastien would be passionate and intense. The previous books didn't give too much away regarding Kian so it was good to finally get to know him. These two had a lot of chemistry, just a shame that the action took a while to get going. Slight angst with other characters stirring trouble but overall a solid book. The ending was lovely to get an insight of previous characters. A good ending to a great series.

Oh my, such a slow burn, long time coming romance, one fraught with all kinds of obstacles. Kian and Bastien were meant for each other, were perfect together, if they could just learn to communicate better. I loved it and am sad to see the end of this series.
