Last Call (Love At Last Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Niall Kerry. I’m almost forty years old, and I’m drowning in something that begins with ‘S’ – it doesn’t quite seem appropriate to write it down here.

After a lifetime out on a sports field, living as a champion – as someone who never had to ask for anything – I’ve suddenly found myself starting from scratch. I’m living in the middle of nowhere with my parents, I’m jobless, and I have a teenage daughter who hates me. Oh, and I have to try and regain the trust of everyone I know.

It’s not easy to convince people that, deep down, you’re not so bad; that you’re no longer that troublesome kid they once knew. It’s not easy to work my way into the heart of my favourite headmistress, Jordan.
It’s especially difficult when she wants nothing to do with me.

But you know what? I’m not the kind of guy who just sits back and accepts defeat, or who stops at the small print at the bottom of the page. I’m someone who plays right until the final whistle.
And when her heart is on the line, I’m ready to make my strict, sexy headmistress an offer she can’t refuse.

Niall had it all but now the tables have turned, and he has returned home to the small town he grew up in and ends up back staying with his parents with his teenage daughter. Jordan is the headmistress of the school Niall wants his daughter to attend. This is a well written story which is heart-warming, emotional, humorous, and about taking chances. I was enthralled throughout this engaging tale and I highly recommend for all readers.

Last Call by A.S. Kelly is a hybrid of enemies to lovers and second chance romance but what really got me interested in this book is the single dad/struggling dad aspect.  I love single parent romances. Niall, a former playboy footballer, has moved home with his 15yr old daughter that he recently took custody of after her mother passed away.  To say he is struggling would be downplaying how he is handling the situation as he never provided anything for his daughter beyond financial support her entire life.   Trying to do the right thing, he finds that he only chance he has to get her back into a school (due to her behavior) is at the hands of Jordan, a former schoolmate, who is now the Head Teacher at the school.  What ensues is a charming story about a father & daughter struggling to connect, a man trying to find some direction with his life and two people trying to keep their “no strings” relationship from becoming more.  Of course, nothing is ever easy when raising kids or in love.

This is a heart-warming and emotional read that really drew me in and I became invested in the different relationships we see trying to grow…both Niall & Skylar and Niall and Jordan.   This is also a super steamy read as Niall & Jordan have combustible chemistry and they burn up the sheets!!.  Overall,  I really enjoyed reading Last Call.

Last Call by A. S. Kelly is the story of Jordan Hill and Niall Kerry.
Nial and Jordan attended the same school but didn't have the same friends. Nail was the popular jock and guy where Jordan was the more nerdy girl. Nial ended up going on to be a famous football player who now has to take full responsibility for his teenage daughter Skylar when her Mom passes. So since he now has to be a full time Dad along with his career slump he decided to return to his small town to get things strait with his life and his daughters. Jordan is still in that small town now the Head Teacher for that school that they attended. When a chance meeting at a bar for these two ignite a hot encounter. Nail ends up learning that to get his daughter into their school he will have to go through Jordan. This was a great second chance at love Romance.

This is the first book by A.S. Kelly I have read. It was on the long side for me. It took me a bit to get into it as well. Niall Kelly is almost forty and has just moved home with his parents and brought his daughter with him. Both him and his daughter are going through a rough time. She has just lost her mother and he is trying find his place not only in her life but in life in general. Things get even more difficult when Niall has a one-night stand with a woman who turns out to be the headmistress at the only school who could possibly accept his daughter. Niall must find a way to make things right. Not only with the headmistress but with his daughter. He must find his way in this new life of his. This book was sad and moving. Niall has a lot of growing up to does as well as some self-discovery. Everyone is town thinks of him a certain way and he wants them to realize that isn’t how he is. That he can be a good man and a good father. I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. I look forward to reading more books by A. S. Kelly.

Yet another great read from this author.
I'm not sure what's with her writing that has me rooted to my seat not wanting to put the book down until I finish it.

Jordan and Niall have quite a few bumps on the road towards their HEA. A few times I was convinced they were not going to make it. But with friends and family there's nothing that can stand in the way of true love.

Another emotional read that has turned me into a bigger fan than I already am.

This story was entertaining, witty, charming, and a tear jerker. From start to finish I was immersed in this world and falling for the characters. I absolutely love that the MC has a teenage daughter. I dont get to read many books where the child in question is older.
Niall spent the last 20 years as a self centered jock. Spent the last 15 years as a absent parent to his daughter Skyler. But nine months ago her mom died, leaving Skyler to live with Niall. Niall knows nothing about being a father, especially to a teenager girl who hates him. He moved back to his home town to live with his parents and has a one night stand with the nerdy girl from high school. Sparks fly and feeling are thrown around in this amazing contemporary romance. At 38 it just may be last call to fall to in love.
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

What do you do when your life changes? What happens when you have a teenage daughter who hates your guts? What to do when you move back home and you're 38 years old living with your parents?? Niall Kelly went from having it all to swimming in the uncharted water of parenthood. This was a fun story that keeps the reader interested. I hadn't read any of A.S. Kelly's work before, but now I'm going to check her out :)
