A Whole Latke Love: A Hanukkah Short Story Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 39 ratings

Have you ever been to an office holiday party? Well, Matthew Kaplan has been to plenty, and he’s not impressed.

In fact, he hates attending the annual gathering at his office. This year, though, he’s trying to make partner in his small law firm and does his best to look like he’s enjoying himself, even though he knows the event is really a Christmas party with just the barest hint of a nod toward his own winter holiday, Hanukkah.

Ethan Becker works for a busy caterer, and although all the Christmas music at these holiday office parties used to make his head ache, he’s learned to tolerate it so he doesn’t lose his mind. Sometimes he even sings along. There aren’t enough toe-tapping Hanukkah songs for a party anyway, right?

Matthew is pleased to find latkes on the buffet and escapes the crowd to eat them peacefully in the kitchen, where Ethan recognizes his hunky former one-night-stand immediately. Matthew remembers their night together fondly, but certainly hadn’t expected to run into the hottie with the sweet blue eyes again. When Ethan offers to make more latkes for Matthew another day, Matthew jumps to accept the invitation. But will their date be delicious or disastrous?

The executive lawyer, and the caterer... yummy.
A hot one night stand, that's what the men remembered. So they melted the sheets once again. Younger Ethan, caterer with blonde hair, and older Matt, a ginger executive lawyer, set up a date.
Ethan goes to his Bubbe to learn to make Latkes for Matt. These guys are terrific. Matt is romantic, flowers, flirty and we get more of what we need. Ethan is wonderful, full of spirit.
A cute, sweet, holiday tale of loving.
    ENJOY !

I enjoyed A Whole Latke Love by Jodi Payne. I was exposed to latkes while living in NYC and fell in love with them. I mean fried potatoes, what's not to like. The story was cute, both sweet and sexy. It helped that the main characters, Ethan and Matt, were both nice guys who met on a one-night-stand. They take advantage of running into each other at Matt's office holiday party to turn it into a second chance. A fun quick read.

The only thing Jewish about this story were the latkes and the abundance of Bubbe thrown in during conversation. I feel safe in saying I don't think the author is Jewish. The book was written well as far as no errors that I found. I went in knowing it was going to be short but it actually dragged on a lot and it was really confusingly put together. Their relationship was extremely abrupt. I'm probably one of the few readers who doesn't mind an insta-love story but I didn't feel the connection to the characters, and it certainly didn't make me think of Hanukkah either which was a let-down. Hoping to find better ones this year.

I think of a good latke as hash browns on crack, and Matt, one of the main characters of this book, would appear to agree. While attending the firm’s annual holiday party, he happily discovered that latkes were included on the menu. While scarfing them down, he then discovers that the caterer was a one-night stand whom he’d never forgotten. And, thus, the story begins.
This is a sweet story and it gets my recommendation.

This was an enjoyable holiday story involving Ethan and Matt. You are drawn right away into their story in the first few lines of the tale. It’s sweet, holiday-ish, uplifting, and a recommend!

This is a cute holiday story. The main characters are very likeable, the kind of people I'd like to meet. Although there are hot scenes, the tone of the story is sweet, with humor. Well done Ms. Payne!

A WHOLE LATKE LOVE was a really cute read about two men reconnecting a month after their one night stand when they run into each at an office party. Ethan and Matthew were really sweet together and they were both excited to see each other again. They jump back into bed quickly but they both acknowledge that they want more. While this doesn't take place during Hanukkah, both MCs are Jewish and there was a really fun scene of Ethan trying to teach Matthew how to make latkas even though Ethan has only just learned how to himself. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author after enjoying this sexy novella.
