A Lawman's Reward (Love's A Gamble Book 3) Kindle Edition
A SWEET WESTERN HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVEL.
Can he prove she’s worthy of the love he has to give?
Lydia is ready for her fresh start as the teacher in the growing cowtown of Abilene, KS. Her brother isn’t happy about her living in town on her own, so only agrees if his friend—the local sheriff—is willing to keep an eye on her.
Lewis Kinkaide has left a life behind, following his dreams of working as a lawman in the wildest town in the west. He agrees to keep his eye on Lydia, knowing it’s no hardship since he’s already had his eye on her for a long time.
Can Lewis prove to her that her disability, which she believes leaves her with nothing to offer a man, is in her eyes only? And, what will happen when secrets from his past come forward, threatening to ruin the hope and trust they've started to build?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2025Lewis and Lydia is one of the most heart touching stories I’ve read in a long time. Too bad his father was such a beast! Thankfully Lewis knew what he wanted and Lydia knew exactly how to put daddy in his place.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2024Lewis character has always been interesting and finally seeing him fall in love is beautiful. Seeing how strong a character Lydia has become is wonderful.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2016This particular book really made me think and feel a wide variety of emotions! All of us have some type of "disability" to overcome whether it be a physical problem (such as a limp like in this book), obesity, shyness etc. How do we handle it? Kay P Dawson has shown us one way a person might handle a personal problem when she introduced us (or re-introduced) to Lydia who was injured while riding a horse as a child. But Lewis taught Lydia self-confidence despite her personal issues; however, did that confidence last? Did they fall in love, especially after the arrival of Lewis' old flame and then his parents who are VERY wealthy? Lydia is a schoolmistress and Lewis is a Sheriff so they meet often. How does an over protective brother deal with his sister NOT living at home? Once I started reading I could not put this book down! I love the entire series and am a definite fan of Kay P Dawson's writing; but, this particular book actually hit home for me. I highly recommend this as a MUST read for all ages!

Thank you again Kay. I truly enjoy your stories and will read more.
Thank you again Linda Pollack
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2019Very well written book and I loved it. Couldn't put the book down because too much going on. A new return teacher, a determined lawman, a teacher who feels inadequate for love, bad guy's, good guys and surprise love. I would recommend this book to everyone. Buy the book and enjoy.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2020It seemed plain and simple. Her relationship with her children was more interesting. I felt her being a teacher with a physical disability was a good character for her and more intriguing than a predictable love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2017This is a wonderful that is a fast read that also gives you things to think about afterward. A lot of us are our own worse critics. If we let a disability make us feel less than we think we should be than that is how we present ourselves in our world. If we compare ourselves to someone else we often come up lacking when others don't see us that way. This "simple" western love story may make you rethink yourself if you have a problem of feeling less mentally or physically maybe you can change your thinking when reading this good, clean romantic story so well written by Ms Dawson.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2023Oh man, this was such a sweet conclusion to the series. Kind and thoughtful and handsome Lewis and beautiful, sweet, string Lydia! Both imperfect but finding how perfect they are for each other. Loved it. Loved the depiction of how we act/live/perceive our own limitations/difficulties we have to deal with, and what it takes to overcome them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good ending to the three stories
Well done! Good ending to the three stories! They can be stand alone stories, but best read in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it, very heart warming
A really nice read, not strong on the alpha male role, but I did enjoy this and the other books in the collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars A sweet western romance
Pleasant enough quick read but a bit tame and predictable for me e.g. reappearance of ex-fiancée, dominating rich father offering 'unsuitable' girl a pay off to leave the son. Characters a bit bland.
