Lightbearer Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,862 ratings

Once upon a time, the devil knocked up a delivery guy.

Not your typical intro to a romance, but I promise, it is one. The devil in this scenario would be a sexy horned demon named Apollyon and the delivery guy would be me, Levi Curtis. Just an average guy who got in way over his head trying to keep his twin sister from selling her soul.

See, in order to keep Lucifer from unleashing Hell’s demonic wrath upon the earth, Apollyon needs a mortal vessel to contain the seed of his demonic army. It wasn’t supposed to be a literal pregnancy, but my overactive imagination has always caused problems.

Big problems, in this case. A whole Legion of ‘em.

I may low-key hate Apollyon, but we’re gonna have to learn to tolerate each other in order to keep our little bundle of infernal joy safe and hopefully not destroy both our worlds in the process.

But hey, on the plus side, you know what they say about guys with big horns.

Lightbearer is an 82k fantasy mpreg romance with dark humor. This is a meta-narrative with intentional tense switching as the story jumps timelines.

Lots of fun!
This was such a fun read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it certainly kept me entertained. Levi is both irreverent and hilarious and I loved how he simply refused to kowtow to his "captors". I loved how all the demons slowly adjust to his existence and then embrace it. Concept ofJanis is hilarious! 4.5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌙

I read a lot. A lot. It’s not often I am genuinely surprised and delighted by a book. A love story yes. A love story that covers love in its many forms. The two MCs are engagingly written with depth and a fair bit of quirky humor. As the story develops it encompasses lovers, siblings, friends, little ones and very unique pets.
Challenges overcome, obstacles hurdled (big ones) and relationships forged. Don’t worry there are plenty of sexy times early enough on but the book is about fighting for what you love.
The main character uses his distinct abilities and quirky view on life to shape his story as it unfold and face challenges in his own unique way. In the story, love does conquer all, but not in a hearts and flowers way.
One of my favorite parts of this is there are elements of some typical tropes, which just made it easier to sink in while having many laugh worthy twists and turns along the way. Highly recommend and if you check it out based upon this review you’ll thank me. Happy reading!

This was quite a unique read and I liked it a whole lot.
It's silly and funny and quirky in all the best ways. And I was enraptured by the story until right after Levi arrived in H*ll.

    Because then the waffling began.
There were these chapters that didn't add anything to the story and felt more like filler somehow. All in preparation for the big event that turned out to be hugely anti climactic.
When Levi and Appolyon finally got together, it was uncomfortable and painful more than steamy. Which - naturally - was a big let down.

But I was pleasantly surprised that the book didn't just end there but there were so much more that happened after that I hadn't expected. And I love being surprised by books. The story was way more complex than I initially thought, and could have been a 5-star if not for the uneventful middle part.
    Still, I highly recommend it!

First off, I've never heard of this author, never knew mpreg was even a genre. So I was kinda going in blind here. I read romance, pretty much anything goes, so I never turn my nose up at what could be a potential great read and what could be a look into the minds and made up lives of whoever. I'm nosy like that.

I read the blurb, read a few reviews, saying how hard they laughed, how much they enjoyed the story. I was in the mood for something light and fun, so I took a chance. And boy, did it pay off.

This book, y'all! It had everything I liked: Snarky MCs (and side characters), hot sexy times (oh la la), the magicks (violá!), action, connection, a little angst, fruits shaped like sex toys ( no, they didn't USE the fruit, they... Look you'll just have to read it), lots of laughs, lasting love, and even a "surprise!" baby.

The snark was sweet, fun and an all around good time. The sex was H.O.T. hot! And not overdone with a million impossible positions or on every. Single. Page. It was intimate and sweet and I WANT A MAN WITH RIDGES!

C'mon! Way to leave us with impossible expectations!

    But, I digress.

Levi was everything. He was vulnerable and strong, always looking out for his loved ones, accidently skilled and endearingly bumbling, and oh, so very hilarious. He's my new BFF. Oh, if only he were straight. And not in love. And, ya know, real. And I wasn't married. Okay, so there's a few obstacles to our love. Le sigh. Apollyon was sexy, snarky and commanding, with a side of sweet vulnerability that left you just, swoon.

I don't hand out five stars. Pretty much ever. My highest honors are usually threes (meh, okay) and fours (this was worth reading). I have to get all the feels. This one gave me all the feels. If I hadn't already named my kids and dogs after the characters from Charmed, Highlander, and Star Wars, one of them might've end up a Levi.

I actually laughed out loud in public like that guy you won't sit by on the bus even though it's the only seat open and everyone else standing smells like armpits, laughed. I actually cried with this one - like, what is this wetness on my face?-, cried. I don't do that. One of my family's pet nicknames for me is "the robot". I was like a manic depressive clown. I swear, I think I'm not manic depressive. Maybe.

This was a good one. I read it through KU in a matter of hours. I just finished it, and I'm buying it so I can read it again. I just, I miss Levi and Apollyon so much already!

I will definitely check out other L.C. Davis books and give them a read after this. I suggest you give this one a try. Even if it's a little out of your comfort zone, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The story is entertaining, and the banter is witty! If you don't fall in love with Levi, you have no soul. In fact, all the characters are so easy to love. Whether you want a badass witch, a sexy demon, or even a hellhound, this book is the one you should pick!

The writing style was great and the main MC was freaking hilarious. I seriously laughed throughout this entire book. I feel like the story was unique in terms of the plot that it didn’t feel super cookie cutter. My issue with the book however, was that I never really felt the love between the two MC’s. I felt like they had absolutely zero chemistry, and the end of the book ended up, just leaving me feeling hollow and wanting more out of the relationship. I also felt like the last few chapters of the book or just kind of unnecessary, and as other people have said the time hopping was super extreme. So again, I appreciate the good laugh of this book gave me because again the main MC is hilarious but in terms of a love story, it left a lot to be desired. I would give it a solid, 3.5 ⭐️ rating.

Is this a smutty mpreg novel? Absolutely.

But it's also absolutely hilarious and has tons of strong emotions. First 80% of the book I couldn't stop laughing. Last 20% I couldn't stop crying - even after it ended perfectly. Even the one thing I was disappointed thinking wouldn't happen was expertly slipped in right at the end.

You'll love the sass, enjoy the romance and spice, and spend time both explaining your favorite one-liners to the people around you, and waving them away when they see you crying.

5 stars because it had everything in it. Comedy, romance, family, tragedy, and whatever else. I went in expecting a mostly cheesy romance story, but nah that is not what I got.

Witty and sweet love story. Yes, it’s unconventional, which made it all the more interesting. The story starts light (kind of) and entertaining (Levi is hilarious, unique in the best way possible), but then it has just the right amount of drama and emotional roller coaster for me not to be able to put it down. Worthy read, which I absolutely enjoyed.

After reading quite a few of this authors books I came to really like his sense of humour and how interesting and full of depth they are. Every book of his I read seems fresh and unique and this one is no different. Despite being a ‘consort’ to a Duke of hell being a fairly common trope, Davis manages to give it a unique spin that adds lots of heart and completely sucks you in.
