Like Hate: A Bully Romance (Redwood High) Kindle Edition
Easy to Hate. Hard to love.
Harper
Love causes hurt, hurt causes hate.
I’ve learned this the hard way.
I fell for a guy who is made up of angry bones, a dark heart, and eyes that can see my soul.
One night changed everything.
Now when he looks into my heart, he pulls out the weakness and he uses it to his advantage.
He taunts me, breaks me down, and is trying to destroy my first year away at college.
So why can’t I stay away?
Why am I so drawn to the boy who used to be my friend—the guy who broke my heart, and the man who wants to destroy me?
Axel
All it took was one night for me to see Harper for what she really is—a fake. An imposter who cut me open, forced me to bare my soul, then tossed me aside without even sewing up my black heart.
She was the first girl to ever stir emotion inside of me.
It’s been a year, but I still feel the sting of what she did to me.
No matter how hard I try, I can’t escape her.
Now we are away at college and she thinks she’s still part of this group we’ve had since we were kids.
Little does she know, she’s been cut, and it’s her turn to feel the pain.

"Axel, Axel, Axel... your journey in this story is impressive. I am not sure how this author did it. Axel your transformation not only felt real (true depiction of growing up) but turned me into an emotional mess. This book is my fav in the series so far... all I say, it is worthy of five clapping hands." Cali Gals

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2021Like Hate is a beautifully written Enemies To Lovers college romance...And, it's my favorite of the Redwood High series.
Harper and Axel have an insane amount of chemistry. Axel claims hates Harper but throughout the book you realize how far from the truth that is. They dated briefly in highschool until Axels mother died and he flipped a switch on her. Axel and Harper end up attending college together, much to Axels displeasure. Despite the amount of bullying Axel puts Harper through, shes still always willing to be there for him. Even when he doesn't deserve it.
I dont want to discuss any spoilers but I highly suggest snagging a box of tissues for this read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2020We meet Axel and Harper in Like You, Knox and Claire's story. We know they dated and broke up, we know Axel makes their Senior year hell for her and we learn the back story in Like Hate. Axel is angry. His mother has died, his dad is MIA, and the one person he thought would be there for him, dumps him. Harper and Axel have been friends since they were 7, over a summer that changed. But, Axel begins to spiral and Harper feels dismissed by him.
Harper thinks she will be able to escape Axel at UCLA, only to find, not only is he attending, but living across the street. Axel holds onto his anger like a shield and continues to torture Harper every chance he gets.
After a major confrontation, they both begin to realize all the snap judgements each made, all the shared feelings they had, and they begin to get closure.
A weekend home packing up her belongings at her childhood home changes their relationship.
But, before they get a HEA, a drunken decision Axel made, threatens their future together.
Axel in all his anti hero glory, wants to love and be loved. He would do anything for the people close to him, but his anger often gets the best of him. Harper is the all American girl. The ying to his yang.
Rachel writes anti hero, bully, angsty young adult, amazingly.
Axel:
“You were never an enemy. It was just easier to convince myself that I hated you because, loving you, after everything that happened, was too hard.” He grabs his phone again, only instead of turning it back on, he flips it around in his hands with a serious expression on his face. “I don’t talk to other people the way I talk to you. I’m not sure what it is, but telling you how I feel comes naturally. Whether it’s feelings of anger, hurt, happiness. Anything. You make it easy.”

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020I am hooked !! Axel and Harper give me all the feels. Heartbreak, anger and misunderstandings are the driving force of this book. Axel will make you want to knock him out and hug him all at the same time. It was too good to put down. I have read it twice already and I want more ! Loved it !
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2022I was expecting that something bigger or more in depth happened to cause their anger. The ending was just that...an ending. The anger was there but to me not enough to back it up. Everything after just didn't have that excitement for me. This book could have had potential to be greater but in the end it just didn't do it for me.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2020Like Hate is a terrific read. You will get sucked in from the start as our favorite Redwood High kids are off to college. There is enough drama involved that will keep you pulled into this book. This is Harper and Axel's story. The fine line of love and hate is crystal clear in this one. Harper and Axel both have their worlds turned upside down and deal with things in such different ways. Axel lashes out to those he love. Harper keeps things close and is a sensitive soul just trying to move past all the changes she is facing. In Axel you will see so many sides to him and watch him grow so much that you can't help but to love him by the end. I love Harper and Axel together. There are so many sweet moments between Axel and Harper that you over look the not so much sweet moments. This is all about timing and growing when it comes to Axel and Harper. By the end of this one you will have a smile on your face.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this
Such a great read. I absolutely loved it.
Axel..... you want to throat punch him but love him at the same time 🥰 he definitely struggles with his feelings but I guess that’s what makes him, him!
Harper is a great character too, but much more naive and a genuinely nice person.
I love these too together though, they bring out the best in each other. I was genuinely quite gutted when the story ended. I would have liked another epilogue further down the line.
I would highly recommend this book. Bully romance/ lovers to enemies to lovers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
It wasn't what I was expecting, dramatic and the story is messy. I don't recommend. The time apart was also uncalled for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
Oh absolutely loved this book, Axels story is so intense and powerful. And their love story together was so addictive had me gripped from the beginning like this whole series! A must read!
